When I first saw the photo, I immediately saw the New 52 inspiration. It was funny that I saw memes with Goku and Vegeta fighting in the background

I dont think its darker. The legs are very bright blue. It's more of the battle damage that kinda make the blue fade away.

Holy crap- by FAR the BEST video reaction/breakdown/whatever you want to call it out there after this suit reveal….you gave us a literal breakdown of the suit, what you like, what you don’t like, even a history of past suits and further explained things rather than just 💩 on it like others did. Thank you for this amazing standard of what a breakdown video ought to be. It was refreshing to watch!

Honestly, I kinda just can’t believe we’re seeing actual stuff from the DCU. Like, I know we have that one Creature Commandos image, and we’ve had plenty of news, but to see something this real and tangible is really exciting. As for the suit itself, I think it’s alright. It’s growing on me the more I see it. Love the hair though.

Superman Returns and Routh were definitely underrated. Still one of my favorite comic superhero films.

People think Superman must always be happy and smiling. I like to see him pissed off/tired he must to deal with another villain today again. He is allowed to feel basic human feelings.

I love it! I heard someone complain saying it looks like Cap’s suit from Winter Solider but I think that makes sense because it is most likely a military suit from Krypton.

the more i look at it the more i really like it. i don’t think this suit will last long, probably a one film suit. i can’t wait to see Hawkgirls suit and even more Guy Gardners

It seems this photo reveals the tone of the movie. Superman starts in the movie feeling he's one of many superheroes... his taking his time putting his suit, maybe because the kame kame ha in the backround is being managed by the authority. But at the end of the movie, he will find the spark that makes him SUPERMAN and will become the luminous hero we already know and love. His lower body is iluminated and his upper body is darkened... from the damage of previous fights. That gives the message that his roots, his values are of superman but we will see his heart conflicted in this movie and him finding a way to heal and grow.

Also don’t forget the original picture reveal of the logo in the snow. That’s shows a small bit of what the blue will look like in the daylight of the sun.

I agree with most about the look being a "put my boots on and go to work", but I also immediately got something much larger from that which I haven't seen others say. He looks like the true meaning of a hero. It immediately reminded me of the World Trade Center 9/11 responders. To me, the battle damage, dirt, and/or scorching on the suit tells me he has been THROUGH IT, it's been rough, and after perhaps a moment's rest, he has to get back to it. In a word, it gives me the vibe of a true hero being - RESOLUTE. I dig the costume! I think this is a great reveal. Some people point at the seeming lack of urgency with such a devastating event going on in the background (and I get that!), but, to me, it's just a cool image, more than a realistic moment in the film. We shall see! Regardless, while I am an old fashioned traditional Supes kinda guy, I like the design of the suit. It's got embellishments, but they feel realistic, to me. The seams look more like they're being strengthened by the designs, rather than having linework for no reason other than style. The folds and lack of an extreme tight fit is different - but I am thinking that it will more often be well-fitting and that this image shows him slumping and perhaps even the suit isn't fully adjusted yet, as he is just getting ready. Perhaps a quick 'Picard maneuver' can fix it.

U think Gunn would release that photo, and it be like the last shot of the movie? That's my guess, a tease of brainiac for the last shot of the movie with a tired supes putting his boots back on after just taking them off.

I want to share my experiece on this, the first time i saw the suit it left me with the feeling of confusion, i don’t know how to react to it, i had mixed feeling about it and i still had it untill now, but now i realize that i think maybe i got too excited about this and my hope for James to get everything right is high because of all the stuff regarding superman or dcu that James put out on social media, every update give me hope of like okay they will do it right this time, but then i saw this reveal i’m not gonna lie i feel a little bit let down by it and now i think i will down all my expectation or hope on this and just wait and see what James and the team made.

People said Caville’s Superman didn’t care about people-this guy is literally casually pulling up his booties while people are dying outside his window…

I like this pic the more I look at it, was surprised this was the reveal initially but I think there's so much to unpack here as you said. Could be nothing, could be everything. My fav part is the symbol, I'm like you, it's weird when the S is so obvious yet they try to make you believe it's a symbol and not an S.

Your take is so refreshing. I’ll admit that I am disappointed with some aspects of the suit, but I’ve seen people fully obsessing over how much they hate this thing. I like how you said “it’s something I need to get used to.” Love it or hate it, this is the suit, or at least a version of it. We as a community need to accept that

The green looks like Green Lantern flying in. My take is that Superman was in a fight with this thing. Got hit really hard -- that's why the suit is so scuffed up. And Green Lantern is coming to help.

I think people are reading too much into it. To me that shot reads as the actor pulling his boots on before he goes to shoot a scene and someone on set snapping a pic, which James Gunn liked and chose to post online, rather than a posed image. It's David, not Superman. I'm sure in the movie things will be shot to look more flawless. Like no riding up of the collar and so on. There will be multiple suits that move in different ways depending on the scene.

I honestly kinda like the suit being a thicker material that doesn't cling tight. In OG lore, Ma Kent made it from his baby blanket.

+1 for Underoos. I'm not a scholar of the relevant Superman comics but that face to me looks like he's about to do something he doesn't want to do...or just did something.

I appreciate this, I do like the suit, but people need to learn, superhero suits need to be seen in motion before anyone makes up their mind completely.

I like it, I do agree we need to see more of it, especially in motion. I like the different aspects from other Superman costumes, like with Alex Ross as well as the New 52. I think it's bold and to make it different especially from past film versions I think is interesting. Definitely make more videos as we get more information

It’s fresh in its old school workman-like qualities, yet includes classic Supes elements we’ve not seen a while like the trunks, big yellow shield, brighter blue. Yet it’s very early 20th century vibe with the hair and boots, and kind of fits if the start of the movie is set in a “golden age”, jsa and all, before presumably Supes steps up and ushers in a new (silver) age, with his JLA (and presumably a change to a more silver age costume).

Coy...do you think the suit thickness and fit in the shoulders is to hide the fact that Corenswet isn't fully buffed out yet? Maybe as he gets bigger they'll adjust? He has buffed some but who knows what the target size is..?

I've been putting it comme ça, I like the design, not a fan of the fit but I'll give it the benefit of doubt that it may look better in motion And as far as the collar goes, people weren't a fan of it on the Pattinson batsuit either but it looked great there imo

I'm in the same "don't love it but don't hate it" boat. I always had a soft spot for the New 52 costume (especially seeing Jim Lee draw it) so I do like that influence as well as the Alex Ross symbol. I do want the suit to have more of a tight fit look but I guess we have to wait and see. I'm really hoping the cape has the yellow S on the back.

I didn't even think about it before you mentioned it, but the thickness of the suit kinda reminds me of medieval chainmail. I'm curious to see how it works in motion!

Great video!!! Cool picture, Epic Suit!! I am very interested, intrigued and more understanding on the potential reasoning of using Kingdom Come Superman Symbol! I like the suit, I understand the negatives. For me the negatives would have been less than if the first picture was in a Super Hero pose but I like that it isn’t. We usually see superheroes fight villains, superheroes posing heroically after they save the world. I like that this picture shows more of the preparation portion of being a superhero while it gave more of a chance to see faults of the suit in personal opinions. I really hope it is Brainiac, so calculating and tech base. But I see how Parasite could be easier to pull off as it could be a potential creation of Lex Luthor. I like this picture, I am interested to see where it goes. Do you think the Superman Logo is just taking Kingdom Come design as inspiration or is there potential Kingdom Come storyline we may see?

I'm curious how it'll look in film, once it's had the touchups that will come with the finished product. I remember years ago when stills from Dark Knight Rises came out of BAtman and Bane fighting, but because they were taken on set, the suit looked kind of rubbery? Like you could see the chest piece kind of flapping in the movements in the still, but it looked tight and form fitting in the final picture just fine.

Definitely was not what I was expecting but I really like it. Absolutely love Kingdom Come so I’m super happy about the large s symbol. Look forward to seeing him in some sunlight standing up. I agree with what you said about thicker suit but I think that will look better when he’s not hunched over like this.

I definitely have conflicting feelings regarding the reveal! Great video! I like your balanced approach, everyone on the internet overreacts to everything but your take is refreshing! A few thoughts, 1)The Suit won't make or break the movie. We all know as great a Cavil looked in Man of Steel, his suit didn't save Batman V Superman or Justice League. The quality of the writing will make or break the film. Gunn made me care about a talking tree with a limited vocabulary and an angry racoon...so I'm giving him so leeway. 2) This suit may have worked better if we didn't have some many recent interpretations to compare it with. Not only Cavil but the CW has pumped out a few high quality suits recently. If you're looking for the best update on the classic look, just check out Brandon Routh in the Crisis crossover. He looked flat out AMAZING!! The again if you want a more modern look, Tyler Hoechlin has worn a variety of high quality suits, the best being the most recent which reduced the padding and looks like a more complimentary fit to his body. All that said, there really was no reason to "reinvent the wheel" as the saying goes. We've had so many good suits recently, and I think classic always works better. I don't think anyone was clamoring for the New 52 suit to make its live action deput. I hope that's the only thing he pulls from that storyline because honestly it was one of the weakest reboots of the character. The Grant Morison stuff was great and if the first image was that suit design I would've been excited...but this...I'm still hopefully but the reveal didn't add to the excitement.

Its not just the picture, its the way Coy has described it, if you want to know why it looks like it does, then Coy is your man. Saw a video saying the suit looks like it is the same material as the Guardians suits. The only criticism i have is that the suit looks a bit crunched up around the shoulders maybe from the type of material used. Cavill was a favourite and not allowed to finish his run so will be interesting to see how this Superman goes. Reeve was my original and i grew up with that.

I actually remember liking the Superman suit from the footage of Cage's fitting. I wish this was a different world now with a new movie is being released!.

First impression is Brainiac is attacking Metropolis and Green Lantern Guy Gardner is responding to it and Superman seeing whats going on thinking “I gotta get in there and help”

Gunn is inspired by All Star Superman: I believe Solaris was one of the villains in All Star Superman. Solaris has injured Superman and have blocked the yellow sun while fighting Superman; this is wear the damage on suit came from. I see a green light striking Solaris in the picture as well. Superman may be injured and weaken from the first fight. Green Lantern and others are distracting Solaris while Superman recovers. Solaris is overcoming the other heroes and weakened, Clark Kent witnesses they need his help. They need Superman. ⭐️ In this picture, a weakened Superman is putting on his boots for round 2, he beaten and injured but he is preparing suit back up to fight Solaris, who is blocking the sun, all odds are against Clark but he is the beacon of hope; he is Superman. I like the way you put it, "like it, but don't love it). That's how I've been feeling about all day. I think the performance of David Cornsweet will be the key to this Superman.

Great video no one should come to one person for definitive view on how to feel , if you don’t like the suit people need to realize, influencers, RU-vidrs aren’t the deciding factor the viewer is.

The suit is fine. I think in movies, they have multiple suits for different angles to make it look like a perfect fit. We will have wait and see in the final cut.

Excited, not sold 100% on the suit but I have an open mind about it.

My prediction on what the story will be about; the reason why I think there are so many superheroes in the movie is that the film will ask “What makes Superman stand out?” I think this young Superman will struggle to find his uniqueness amongst all of these other superheroes which is parallel to real life. A lot of them can fly, have super strength, and shoot lasers or whatever; most are more popular than Superman. Perhaps this Superman is a little down because he’s feeling purposeless since there are already other superheroes doing his job. Hopefully this movie will successfully answer the question that was brought up in Superman Returns, “Why does the world need Superman?” Superman Returns’ answer was, “Because he can solve problems with his superpowers that normal people can’t.” He’s more than just his powers. Hopefully the movie will be about that. Stay optimistic.

I think it looks great. Colours are vibrant, he's got the trunks. It's got wrinkles in it, sure, but don't we all complain about the glossy smoothness of mcu Spider-Man? I'd rather it feel real. Having our first look be a shot of him PUTTING IT ON, you know, like a costume, reinforces that. It's not a nanotech that pours over him, or a hard light construct that's projected on to him. I think James Gunn is teasing us a bit here. I think this shot is not even a in scene shot. Maybe he’s just in wardrobe casually putting on his suit. Maybe the scene he’s about to shoot calls for this particular suit. Maybe his suit has a zipper in the back to where it is down because he can’t put on his boots unless his suit is unfastened. Hence the looseness of the suit in the upper shoulder/neck region. Maybe Corenswet doesn’t even have a clue that this picture is going to be the photo for the suit reveal which explains the uninterested look on his face. Gunn: yeah let’s use this pic, put an energy blast behind him and watch the world go wild 😂🤣😂. Mission accomplished JG🔥🔥🔥. Can’t wait for this movie

Supes is my favorite across the board of Marvel and DC. So I am hoping it's done in a way that reminds people why Superman was so many people's favorite for years. Odd choice to go dark filter when that was a complaint. It looks like a wet suit the more I look, but toys need to be sold which means new suits will need to come with it, so if it's not for you hold tight people. Thanks Coy for the video!
