The “Heh Loser” from Darkseid gets me every time. It’s so in-character for him for him to happy that his greatest enemy was denied the chance of killing him, even if Darkseid was just gonna die anyways.

The DCAU cartoons were the best because they didn't treat the children of the era like idiots. It makes these shows even more satisfying when you come back to them as adults and can pick out all of the nuanced writing and themes
Michael Ironside did an excellent job in voicing the malevolent ruler of Apokolips himself, Darkseid. He was so calm, soft-spoken, and intimidating all at once.
Wow I didn’t know that. Yeah I noticed they had Superman on the sidelines too much in the first season. Plus they changed his face a little bit. They removed some lines on his face and that makes him look a bit younger.
@@Steel-101 Yeah in the first season they said they wanted to make Superman look older to indicate the passage of time, but fans pointed out that Superman wouldn't age so noticeably in the handful of years that passed between Superman: the Animated Series and the first season of Justice League. Plus his older look combined with the Super Wimp status made Superman very off-putting for the fans. So they thankfully adjusted accordingly for the second season.

Then one shot from lightning or an alien gun would completely knock him out. It was so ridiculous. Lol 😆. I’m just glad they gave him more awesome moments in the unlimited series.

Man I despise that talking down he gave Superman. They took the whole Batman is a blunt guy thing too far. He was just an a-hole to Clark in that scene
I love how even though Supes is pissed unbelievably off and is probably still harboring some anger towards Batman, you can still hear the concern in his voice when he yells at him to leave.
Batman being as smug as always is. You have to be a Superman to tolerate how much a dick he can be. Bats called Superman an "idiot" yet if Clark didn't go after Darkseid, Orion would've been dead and Darkseid would've escaped but all means Bruce call him an idiot. This isn't even including him being a dick earlier in part 1 of the story where Clark was right in having Braniac destroy Darkseid yet Batman of course acts like he is in the right by telling him to "cry me a river". I respect Superman so much for putting up with a guy like that.

@@LegacyKnight-zm6vz It's not so much they did Superman dirty, it's more so that Batman in a lot of his team up stories from my experience is written this way. A later scene in JLU where he took the moral high ground on Superman for trapping Doomsday in the Phantom Zone is one is an even worse example of the stuff I listed here. I might get so much shit for this but I actually think Batfleck in Snyder League is pretty likeable compared to the teamup stories I have seen him in.
I suppose Superman thought it was a way of redeeming himself when he was under Darkseid’s control and to ensure that Darkseid doesn’t cause anyone else pain and suffering ever again. I guess Batman had to save Superman because he knows the earth still needs him. Heck even Vandal Savage said that the world needs Superman to do what he does best.
He’s got that grudge from the animated series, the brainwashing, the almost complete takeover, Dan’s death. Lex Luthor may be his most iconic foil, but Darkseid is his most hateful enemy.
I love how the theme of Superman: The Animated Series comes back and it's a little distorted, showing that what Darkseid did to Superman in the show is coming back to haunt him.
I love the sadistic look on Darkeid's face when he's squeezing the life out of Orion and Bats deserved that slap from Supes after what he did in part I of the episode
@Chuck Green He was a jerk to Supes in part 1,Supes was trying to warn them about Darkseid, but Batman told him to "get over it" and decided to help Darkseid

This needed the coda between Superman and Batman where Superman reminds Batman, "You aren't always right." Especially since they faced Darkseid again after this.
But Batman was right and Darkseid did due in the blast. It's just that Alexander Luthor went and resurrected him on his quest to merge with Brainiac once again
@@Syryu But if Batman hadn't forcibly sent Clark back, Superman would've died with Darkseid in the blast. Which meant that when Darkseid was resurrected, nobody would be able to stop him.

@@maxacorn uh, I recall Superman beating the Hell out of Darksied in the finale to Unlimited. So I’m pretty sure Superman was more of a match. Though I admit it ended up being solved by a weird Deuz X Machina with Lex showing up. Though I think the idea of things being ok without Superman around is a bit hard to believe. They ceartainly would’ve been screwed when Doomsday returned. Plus the show generally treated it as Superman being the strongest by far and then losing their strongest member would undeniably make things worse in the future. So Batman telling Superman to get over his hatred so that he wouldn’t get himself killed like he almost did at the end is arguably a good thing to do.
The DCAU was on point with _everything._ The writing, the voice acting, the animation, all _perfect._ There’s a _reason_ Kevin Conroy is the voice everyone thinks of for Batman.
I love how the Justice League cartoon have so much more to the shows before. Like it makes sense how Clark is so hellbent in ending Darkseid here if you saw the finale of the Superman Cartoon. Or obviously the Ace episode and aftermath means a lot with the Batman cartoon and Batman Beyond as well.

Remember, Superman was NOT holding back here despite what anyone may say. He was fighting Brainiac's army on Apokalips and was tortured for who knows how long - all without sun light. So, I estimate he was running on a half tank of gas; maybe even less and he still whooped Darkseid's ass with might to spare. Goes to show how far his reserves go.
True but darkseid was also weakened from having a fire pit blow up in his face earlier in the episode plus he had just fought Orion too, so u could call it even
Superman has been absorbing sunlight for about 30 years so he'd have to be away from earth for an extremely long time before he got noticeably weaker. This is also why he always has an advantage over other kryptonians who come to earth. Let Zod have time with the sun as long as Clark and he'd wipe the floor with him due to his background and training as a general
Added fact: When he beat Darkseid for the first time at Apokalips, he just saw how beaten down its population were, with how they decided to gather around Darkseid and carry him off to heal instead of taking revenge for eons of abuse and torment.
Love how the Superman Animated Series music starts plating around 0:35. You just know right there that this fight is gonna be a straight DISRESPECTFUL smack down. Also, I think it's cool that Darkseid seems to be hesitant to use his Beams, considering what Superman did with them during the last encounter.
I love the Fact that out of all of the Foes in Superman’s Roster of Villains, Darkseid is the Only One that has Kal Full of Hatred and Rage that he might Cross the Line on the God of Evil if he has One Chance.

I like this one a lot for the fact that I think Superman did the best here against Darkseid than he did in the 1st and 3rd fights. The 1st fight was cool with Supes holding Darkseids beams in his eyes, while the ‘World of Cardboard’ speech in the 3rd fight was awesome too.
I know everyone loved Tim Daly's Superman voice in Superman TAS, but I prefer JL and JLU Superman voiced by George Newbern for one reason. When he gets mad, George slips into his Sephiroth voice (that at the time, he hadn't done yet) and as a Final Fantasy nerd, that always makes me smile.
Best iteration of both Superman and Darksied, the rivalry these two had in the animated series was just iconic. It’s a tie between these two and of course Batman and the Joker, but every single interaction between these two was just absolute peak fiction. I know people see Lex as Superman’s nemesis (with good reason) but for me I always saw it as Darksied thanks to the animated series and both Justice League and Unlimited. Lex came off more as petty if anything due to having his shine taken away, but Darksied just loved to absolutely torment Sups mentally and physically for the hell of it. From killing Dan Terpin out of spite, brainwashing Superman to be his pawn, saying shit like “if I’d known one humans death would pain you this much I would have killed more.” The man just absolutely loved to mess with him for his own sick amusement, not to mention that it was always on sight whenever they laid eyes on one another. Everything about their dynamic was just gold, it’s a damn shame we haven’t really gotten anything like this between these two since because it works so perfectly.

We didn't see darkseid after this because the explotion killed him. He was actually revived in the justice league finale and he had an awesome rematch with superman ! I recomment you check it out , it is awesome !
Superman was actually willing to kill Darkseid here, and very capable. His heat vision burned actual holes through his foot, could have been his head. Batman knows that a killer Superman is a giant risk to... basically everything. I appreciate him doing everything he could to not let that happen.
He still won Bro, he couldn't finish Darkseid because of Bats (and well because he would've died in the explotion too). Darkseid did die or was defeated in this episode but was resurrected by Lex at the end of Unlimited
Movies are written by committee, according to a list of bullet points determined by a marketing research team that understands everything through spreadsheet data and focus group surveys, and geared toward one thing: immediate return on investment. There’s no such thing as art, or quality, or soul, in capitalism. There’s only money. So everything made by a company is optimized for producing as much money as possible, as quickly as possible. So everything is aimed at as large an audience as possible. So it’s intentionally designed to be shallow and full of extremely basic ‘fun’ triggers. Did you know that the original _Total Recall_ was suspenseful, with the big reveal occurring only at the end? The remake couldn’t have any of that, so it’s explicitly spelled out to the main character and the audience as early as possible, so they could cram in more overly-choreographed, _Matrix_ like fight scenes. They wanted Judge Dredd to kiss Rookie Anderson in _Dredd,_ because survey data says ‘romance between male and female leads automatically makes the movie more successful’. Hell, they wanted Dredd to take his helmet off, because ‘face time equals money’. Karl Urban, who grew up reading the _Judge Dredd_ comics and is a huge fan of them, said no, because Judge Joseph Dredd _never_ takes his helmet off, and if he ever had an amorous thought in his head, he would’ve immediately beaten it to death with his nightstick. The studios _hated_ the final NU _Trek_ film, _because_ it had the feel of an actual _Star Trek_ film, and having a discernible sense of identity in a movie is _anathema_ to corporate executives.

Superman’s “I won’t stop until you’re a greasy smear on my fist” is better than his “it’s time to show you just how powerful I can be” speech that he gave in the Justice League Unlimited finale “Destroyer”.
