Honestly, as an Indian who's living in a predominantly Chinese country, I can tell you from experience that Asians, including Indians, are quite racist towards people darker skinned than them. There was no shortage of casual racism growing up. Seriously, even up to high school, random people called me a black dog for no reason. Thankfully, my country is nowhere as bad as other Asian countries judging by some of the stories I've heard from South Korea, Japan or China.

In case anyone was wondering... In Thailand, there is a recognised third gender called kathoey. When translated to English, it is called ladyboy. So "ladyboy" is not actually used throughout Asia. It's just used by Thai people when speaking to someone who is not a native. And when used in that context, it's not derogatory at all.
