Everything with Benny makes me mad at the writers. Aside from being a cool character, he opened the way for more stories with good monster. Even though we know they exist in truth like 95% of the time monsters are just plain evil.
Thabk you for paying close attention this episode and last. Most people have no idea what just happened or why and just get mad. Thanks for having the maturity to see how and why the boys finally chose each other and not get hung up on the wrong details. The rest of the season is one of my favorites 😊
I recognized the dude torturing Samandriel from a previous episode. He appeared way back in season 2 in "Crossroad Blues". He was one of the people who had sold their souls to the devil and Sam protected him from the hellhounds.
BLECH! Amelia - so absolutely thrilled to see the back of her! 🙄 Sad to say goodbye to Benny though. I enjoyed him, but I get Dean's belief he had to sacrifice a relationship, since Sam was doing the same, even if I don't agree with it. Very glad the boys are back together, of course, but they both looked so sad at the end. 😔 And oh, Cas! 🥺 Friggin' Naomi! All he wants to do is help people and "atone" for Godstiel. Just let him heal babies!! 😩😠
I still don't see how giving up Ameila is the same as giving up Benny?! Amila knew jack about Sam's life and his problems and keeping in touch with her just put her in danger, also if Sam went to live with her they'd be a sitting duck when Crowly came after them so he can get to Dean who was trying to seal the gates of hell. Also the obvious Ameila no longer served in any kind of story and wouldn't be a help to the brothers aside from having sex with Sam. Meanwhile with Benny, he was a trusted friend who Dean shared his secrets with and he could've been a big help on cases and their was plenty of story material if he stood around. So no Ameila and Benny aren't equal in anyway and this trade off wasn't fair.
@@patrickmcguire7896 I mostly agree with you. As I said in my original comment, I think Dean thinks it's a fair trade, but I don't think it is. They're two different situations entirely. Plus, as you said, as a vampire Benny is in their world a lot more than Amelia is as just a normal person. But I disagree that Benny could have helped them with hunting. I've heard others make that argument, and say that Benny could have joined them as a hunter. But he's clearly struggling a LOT with staying off of human blood, and there's no hunting without humans bleeding. I think it would be way too tempting and hard on him. But I was still sad to see him go all together. He might have been helpful as a contact within the monster world anyway, and he and Dean should have stayed friends, for sure. 😔
Wow haha the emotions in this episode, I'd forgotten the Castiel line and Naomi, now THERE'S a character lol but that ending... Really just sums up the boys journey up till now. Both have their "other foot" out and caught up in something thats distracting them and keeping them from really understanding the situation. Now its different situations, but until NOW do we actually get the in your face parallel. So both choosing each other and being both feet in has this sad but good feeling, the boys are back 🙏
Oh, I have such conflicting feelings about this episode. Parts I really like; Cas telling them to "stow their crap", seeing Kevin and Benny both (even if briefly), Crowley is there and being Crowley, the whole tragedy of Cas wanting to save Samandriel/Alfie and failing due to Heaven's control. I just don't like what the show is doing with the brother's here. I don't like that Sam is so against Dean being friends with a "monster", when he used to have a much more nuanced perspective, questioning the black-and-white binary. I could accept such a turn for Sam in theory, if it followed as something natural from his betrayal by Ruby; he questioned the "Supernatural = bad" binary, and freed Lucifer as a result, starting the Apocalypse, and what has happened since ultimately come from that. But here, it just feels like Sam feels the way he does now because Dean feels differently about Benny, and they HAVE to have disagree to provide some drama. And I don't like how Dean abandons Benny. Not because I feel it's so out of character, but I just find it so, so boring. It's more of the same old, same old, instead of letting the characters actually go somewhere truly new that might require shaking up the formula. And I HATE how it isolates the brothers, because I like them better as individuals when they at least also interact with other characters, and I like them better together when the show isn't making them carry the interpersonal drama alone; it keeps feeling forced for the sake of the drama, rather than coming naturally from them. Still, despite the parts I don't like, I would still overall rate this episode has enjoyable, especially if I'm allowed to skip certain parts 😂❤
Matters of the heart trouble Sam as Amelia decides whether to return to her husband. Castiel also has split loyalties when a fellow angel needs rescuing.
i feel so bad for Benny. The boys needed to chose each other and start working out their crap. Amelia had Don to go home to but Benny was just left hanging. I felt so bad for him but I'm so glad with how it worked out with Sam and Dean. this was the first step. now what they need it to really talk and communicate but we know that'll never happen, lol.
I really loathe and I mean LOATHE Sam in the entire Benny arc. It's really hard to see his perspective on this at all when he's essentially demanding that Dean cut ties with one of the very few friends he's EVER had in his life for no discernible, logical reason. Especially given what comes next.
Agreed! Both brothers make mistakes and both brothers hurt each other, but they always apologize and regret their actions. But not here! Sam never gives a heartfelt apology to Dean for having him cut ties with Benny, and never apologizes for being wrong about him either! And for the record Dean does apologize for how he acted and he regrets the fake call. But Sam never shows any remorse for Benny through the rest of the series. Yeah he'll give a better apology over the purgatory thing but not about Benny and that is what I hold most against him!
Never liked the Amelia storyline. She's with Sam, when her husband returns. Sam leaves her so she can be with him. Says he's in love with her. Then goes back to stand her up. If Amelia wanted Sam, she should've fought for their relationship. She wasn't treated right by, her father, husband, Sam or the writers.
Yeah I never like Amelia either, but they did her dirty and Sam at the end. It felt like Sam only hooked up with her in this episode because he was mad at Dean.

I completely agree! I hate the writers and Sam for how Benny was treated! Benny was completely innocent in all of this! He never tried to tell Dean to leave his brother or have Dean do anything dark and dangerous, he only called once to help him with a vampire nest, which is something he already does, it was Dean who didn't call Sam for back up. And that's just it, Sam doesn't hate Benny or have any valid reason for hating or mistrusting him that matches with his character, he's just mad at Dean and is taking it out on Benny.

This whole episode is toxic! The brothers should have their own friends and girlfriends, there's nothing wrong with that, be they monster or human, the other brother shouldn't force them to choose. The only criteria should be that their trustworthy, know about the supernatural and can defend themselves, also that they don't talk the brothers into doing dark dangerous stuff like drink demon blood, All these apply to Ruby but none of it applies to Benny.
The writers passed Amelia around like a trophy. She didn't even have the option to stay with Sam. They could've done so much with both the brothers having girlfriends. Or friends for that matter. They have Mills and a few others, but no personal friends or gfs.
My mum doesn't like me having friends. She gets all jealous. But it could be due to her having Schizophrenia. When ever I come home she think l left the house to be with some guy. She really don't wanna live alone without me.
So what was Sam's plan? Live a normal life with Amelia till Crowly killed them?! The only reason he got a year off was because Crowly wasn't interested in him, but after their last 3 encounters that ain't happening. Sam could never go back to a normal life with Ameila, it was never an option, so at the end when he picked Dean it wasn't because he wanted Dean it was because he had nowhere else to go. Sam didn't give up anything, it would've never worked with Amelia, hell that was the reason he broke up with her in the first place because he realized he would never be as honest or open with her than her husband! Meanwhile he forces Dean to cut ties with his friend despite him being innocent and has the gall to be upset about Martian when Sam dragged him in this mess then bolted without a word. Meanwhile Dean actually went through a character arc and accepted that Sam can make his own choice, he grew while Sam gave up nothing and acted like a spoiled toxic jerk!
Why would Crowley just randomly come after Sam? Crowley minds his own business. He cares about Kevin and the tablet, not Sam. He didn't go after Sam for the year he had quit hunting. He hasn't come after him the entire time he's been back on the road with Dean. And what would stop Crowley going after Amelia anyway, even if Sam wasn't there? That's also not why Sam broke up with Amelia. He stepped aside to give her a chance with her husband, not wanting to stand in the way of her happiness (knowing that Amelia would be torn between the two of them as long as he was there). The Sam hate in these comments is ridiculous. It's like Xander hate in the Buffy fandom. They twist things and invent their own headcanon to turn Sam into the bad guy and ignore all the things Dean does wrong. Dean keeping Benny a secret from Sam was a mistake. The text message last episode was outright cruel; the old wounds that must have opened back up for Sam must have been horrible. Sam dropped everything from his old life just to rush back to hunting with Dean and was met with nothing but controlling behaviour from Dean when it came to Sam wanting to get out of hunting.
@@Wannabe_Baby Did you forget that the whole damn plot of this season is to seal the gates of hell which Dean was going to do with or without Sam, so Crowley would obviously do everything to stop Dean and Sam is the best way to get to Dean and if Sam settled down he'd be an easy target just like when he was in Stanford. Also what the hell are you talking about Sam dropping everything to go back into hunting for Dean? Are you talking about the pilot cause if so your dead wrong! Sam agreed to do one hunt with Dean to find their dad but only for a few days so he wouldn't put his interview on hold, and that's what happened, Sam went back into hunting because Jess died, he left his old life behind for Jess not Dean! If you were talking about his season again your dead wrong, Sam had already given up his normal life before Dean even got back, he was at Rufus's cabin so he obviously was going to become a hunter again, hell when Dean got back he didn't even want to go in a hunt with Sam but Sam came along because he had nothing else to do. As for how Dean acted most this episode yes it was unfair but he learned he was in the wring that's why he stopped, for two episode Dean wasn't hostile towards Sam even when purgatory was brought up. As for the fake call yeah that was extreme but guess what Dean regrets that he apologized for that and how he's been acting and how he's been too controlling he regrets his actions. At no point in the series does Sam apologies for Benny and focusing Dean to cut ties with a true friend who was in need and innocent. Both brother do bad stuff all the time but usually at the end they apologize for their actions and truly mean it but in this Case Sam doesn't so yes he deserves all the Hate!
