It feels like forever since Dean died and Sam left the bunker, he asked you to join him but the bunker was the only placed that ever felt like home so you stayed, despite the fact that the two people who you cared about the most in the most the world weren’t there with you.
You still dream about that day, that day that you’re whole world changed and you watched one of the few people in the world that you care about die. It’s hard to fall asleep nowadays but when you do all you see is Dean’s last moments, his eyes brimming with tears as he tries to stay strong for you, but you can see through it you know how much pain he’s in and all you can do is watch him and try and convince him that it’s ok for him to go, even though the thought of a world without Dean Winchester is too much to handle, you don’t want him to be in anymore pain so you smile gently at him and let him know that it’s ok.
Suddenly the bunker door opening wakes you up, you cautiously get out of bed grabbing a blade that sits on your desk, Sam hasn’t been by in months he said that it’s too much for him to come back so you normally go to his house.
You slowly make your way down the corridor and that’s when you come face to face with Dean, you freeze as he looks at you smiling, it can’t be Dean you watched him die and there’s no more God to bring him back and neither you or Sam had tried to bring him back, so surely the only answer must be that it’s a monster disguising themselves as Dean. You lunged yourself at him and begin to fight but he manages to push you off him where he tells you it’s him. You look at him and take a couple steps closer, you don’t believe him so once again you fight him. This time he manages to take the blade out of your hand and cuts himself to prove to you that he’s not a shapeshifter. You look at the cut and then back to him as you slowly whisper “Dean?” He smiles at you as you walk towards him, he opens his arms out for hug but you grab some holy water sitting on the table and throw it in his face. He looks at you before doing an exasperated sigh and then moves his head to the side to spit out some of the water. You softly laugh as you look him drenched in water with a defeated expression, you hand him a towel that was thrown onto a chair and he pats down his face and wipes the blood from his arm. He chuckles slightly before pulling you into a hug which you gladly accept and you both tightly wrap your arms around each other.
Once you both pulled away from the embrace you asked how he was back to which he doesn’t respond with an answer and just says that he’s here and honestly that’s all that mattered to you. You properly patched up his wound and he began asking where Sam was and what you’d been doing and you told him how Sam quit hunting but you still carried on. He then asked the question you’ve been dreading.
“Did you look for me?”
The truth was no, you and Sam had decided that he was at peace and you didn’t want to bring him back for selfish reasons. You didn’t respond to his question you just looked at him which seemed to answer his question as he abruptly stood up and moved away from you.
You tried to reason with him and explain why but he kept cutting you off before walking off and the bang of his bedroom door made you jump slightly. You sat there for a while before you tided the first aid stuff up and then went into your room.
After a while Dean knocked on your bedroom door, you ignored him and remained curled up on your bed. The door opened and Dean made his way to the chair that was next to your bed. He didn’t say anything for a bit just looked at you before he started to apologise for getting angry and saying how he forgave you. You slowly sat up so you were properly facing him and then pulled him into a hug as you both cried into each other’s shoulder. Dean was back and at that moment that’s all that mattered.
