I think one of the reasons Dean is so annoyed, for himself but also for Sam. Dean was more of a parent to Sam then John ever was and John was so mad that Sam wanted a normal life. Dean wasn't allowed to be kid because John forced him to grow up. And suddenly there is a brother that had everything that Dean wanted. A family with his dad.
hello like I have another opinion, if Adam had a happy childhood, a nice house, friends and went to the university was for Kate not for Jhon. It was already explained that Jhon only visited Adam for his birthday. John never had anything to do with Adam's upbringing.
I love Sam's angry 'what makes Adam so special?', because it shows how deeply jealous they both are. It's completely human and makes total sense after everything they've lived through. I feel for these boys.
Dean started out being jealous of Adam but then realized how John wanted to protect him and keep him away from that life. Even though Adam got stuff for his birthday from John that Dean never got for his, the jealousy disappeared because Dean realized that Adam saw less of John than Dean & Sam did. I'd say Dean felt more loved by John because of the training he & Sam got to protect themselves from what they knew was out there than Adam did even though Adam got to have a normal life for all those years. And after he found out the truth that the real Adam was dead, I think that sank into his brain even more.
I reall liked their exchange at the end, when Dean said Sam was more like their dad than he ever way, then Sam replying that he'll take it as a compliment, only for Dean to answer: "Take it any way you want". The tension between Sam and Dean is really building nearing the end of S4.
Great reaction and analysis as always. This is certainly one of the more interesting episodes as it hits close to home with the brothers. A friend of mine pointed out a little detail about Adam as well. Since Adam is about 20 years old, and John contacted when he was about thirteen, John contacted him around the same time Sam went to college, which was about two years before the beginning of Season 1. He thinks that this is due to John wanting to fill the hole in his heart that Sam left.
Good Reaction I think Dean was more angry about Adam having the "Father" that Dean always wanted. The Dad who: Drives ALL night to make it to your birthday, takes you to a baseball game, even is relaxed enough to give you your first beer... Adama did not have ANY responsibilities about being a Winchester. (Sam & Dean could have demanded that the Angels resurrect Adam, but they didn't even think to ask).
Adam was not raised by Jhon, he only visited him 4 times in all of Adam's life and in the end the only thing that Adam owes to Jhon is a horrible death. everything good in his life he owes to his mother and everything bad to Jhon. and more on the Winchester is envious of stupid visits once a year. This makes me very angry. poor Adam.
For what i understood from the episode the first time i watched, John didn't had a double life while married with Marry, his relationship with Adam's mother was during his life as a hunter after Marry's death
Compare the way Sam talks about friends being weaknesses in this episode to what he was doing back in Skin when Dean was telling him he had to cut out all his friends and you'll see how much Sam changed after Dean died & went to hell. It makes sense because Sam idolized Dean and once Dean died, like Sam said prior to the season 3 finale, he would have to become more like Dean to survive. And that's exactly what he did. Especially since at that point he & Dean went through the same experience of having someone die & go to hell as the result of a demon deal to save them. I wonder if John ever found out about Mary's deal with Azazel to bring him back at Sam's expense. Dean only found out about it from time traveling, but it's possible a demon that John may have interrogated/tortured told him about the deal. Probably not though since Mary's deal would've probably ended up documented in his hunting journal like the other deals made in 1973 were. Unless he found out during the season 1 era after he gave his journal to his sons.
I get both brothers views on things. I mean, for one they were both *clearly* jealous. But Sam wanted him to be able to protect himself, and Dean wanted him away from hunting to be safe. They both wanted him to be safe, but they went about it in different ways... :( Also, if you replace the last letter of each of their names with a 'D' you get: Sam - Sad. Dean - Dead. Adam - Adad (A DAD!). Adam is the one who had John actually do kinda fatherly things with him. I'd seen the Sam and Dean ones multiple times, but then I just started thinking about Adam and was just like "Huh..." And, POOR ADAM! HAHAHA HE DESERVES BETTER! :(
Same. They’re both justified with their feelings. It’s a very complex situation. Poor Adam indeed. Thanks for watching daisy, always look forward to your comments:)
I just think they need a therapy session with someone who knows the truth... Might help them a bit... Haha You're welcome! I always look forward to your reactions!
The first time I watched this episode I was so excited about the prospect of a new brother. I was hoping he would continue on as a regular just like you said. But then all my hopes and dreams we're crushed. Lol You are so close to the finale. Excited to see your reaction!!
It seems like a shame to have such a huge thing revealed to then kill the possible arc but I’m under the impression that the majority of viewers wouldn’t have enjoyed Adam as the third bro. I know! I can’t wait to watch!
It's crappy when parents pass and the secrets they kept buried start popping up. "Knowledge is power" is a good lesson to take away. The knowledge of hunters and proper training could have prepared Adam to fight those ghouls. Instead, keeping the truths about a hunter's life secret got him killed. Good parenting, John.
Typical Negan, another woman on the side, lol. Sorry, couldn't help myself. It was interesting to see Sam playing Dean to Adam like Dean was to Sam, looking after his little brother. Fun reaction video, CTU!
I love the scene where Dean is crawling & going through the crypts and mausoleums of the cemetery. The music, darkness, and general atmosphere is perfect and really creepy. Classic Kripke-era Supernatural greatness compared to the crap we have now.
Just for clarification ---- the episode is called "Jump The Shark" for a reason. The title of the episode is a tongue-in-cheek reference...lol In case you're not aware, the phrase "Jump the Shark" means that a TV show has reached that episode where the show has become stale, tired, unimaginative, and lame. The typically means that a show is in decline beyond the point of no return, and will soon be canceled. The phrase originated with the 1970s TV show "Happy Days" that was very popular, but was soon cancelled after a dumb episode in which the main character, 'Fonzi', on waterskis, carried out a stunt where he jumped circling sharks...lol (All this was before my time, but I'm aware of the history...lol) Anyway, TV shows today usually "Jump the Shark" when they suddenly introduce new characters, such as a 'long lost brother or sister from nowhere' to reinvigorate a TV show. Those sudden unimaginative additions typically make a TV show lose frustrated views, and loss of ratings...thus cancellations...lol That's why the writers, cleverly in jest, titled the episode "Jump the Shark". They were making fun of themselves with the addition of the 3rd brother...hahahaha
6:57 considered as one of the biggest moments of maturing and growing up in LIFE...not just this show...is when you can look back at the upbringing your parents gave, and wether you agree with it or not, wether you would do the same or not...being able to look back and go “I understand now why they did what they did and how they did it...and I don’t hate them for that”... It’s a life lesson that sadly too many in this world either never fully grasp, or if they do, they run entirely the opposite direction... I myself chafed a great deal at the upbringing I had, perceived with VERY little positivity...but not, looking back, I realise and can see the hows and whys etc...and whilst I still wish there ere other ways it could have been achieved, it was what shaped me into the person I grew to be, wether because of or in spite of...I came out of it alright, and if you or anyone reading this can look yourself in the mirror, and genuinely feel “I am proud of, or at least ‘ok’ with the type of person I became”...then regardless how you might think of them, and regardless of their methods...your parents succeeded in their job of raising their kid. Sorry, don’t mean to ramble, just venting in a heartfelt manner...
for me also Adam is my favorite character, he had so much potential, it is likely that in season 15 we see him again they imagine an Adam as well as Nick
So, how's it working for the finale? Are you uploading three episodes next Monday or only one next Monday & then two the following Monday? I mean, I'd love all three next Monday, but I know you said finding time is tough.
I think ep 20 will be in two parts so there will be two videos but one episode. Then I’m hoping the week after to have the last two eps together uploaded but I haven’t watched them yet so all depends on what I film.
6:25 not about being nice to Adam for Sam… Dean is trying to protect Adam from being a part of what they are… Adam didn’t have to join this life… but Sam is pushing him into it instead of letting Adam move on while they handle it. Pay attention to sams attitude…don’t get caught up on what he’s saying but how he’s saying it, the aggression… I think you’re missing that a bit and the difference in sams attitude and strength when he has blood and when he doesn’t
Oh Saaam is all in negativity mode here :'( Sam wanting to be a hunter, sounding like John, wanting Adam to be in that life???? that's so not Sam!, and he's going *dark Sammy* ugh
DakaraJayne I'm doing ok! I've just been working alot especially on overnights and haven't found alot of time to relax or sleep lately lol. I really hope you can get back on playstation sometime but if you can't, I'm just gonna have to watch all your videos and leave a comment! 😊 I hope everything has been good with you!
Ahhhhh. Im screaming in my head because she took out some important dialogues and also how oblivious she is. What a way to see how a first time watcher react to this episode. My goodness, im so triggered right now. But thanks and cant wait for the first 4 episode of season 5!
I dont think she took important dialogues. I mean she watches SPN for the first time so the "dialogues" that you reffer as important are not important to her right now. So cut her some slack eh?
I really have mixed feelings for this episode,I don't like it and I don't know why!not that I dislike Adam!it was Ghoul Adam but the real one is interesting❤️!I guess that's why!the real Adam wouldn't just show off of what a good father John was too him,for his brothers!he had more complicated and none acceptable relationship with John!and I don't know, this episode was only to just break Dean's heart, again and tease the viewers with both Sam and Dean's behavior towards Adam!and another reason to just dislike John!imagine, fake Adam told,John was with him two years ago!that means in S1 while Dean was so worry that something might happened to him and he's lost😡!the thing Dean felt about Adam, wasn't just jealousy!disappointed in his dad(again)was there as well!the way fake Adam told those things was like John was a father Dean always wished for, only for Adam!while imagine he never gave himself the pleasure to appear in important events such as Christmas and Halloween!and Dean was the one who should take care of Sam,excuse John's actions to him and even tolerate his whinings!doesn't he really had every right to be mad?but even without it he was protective over his half brother and didn't want him to be part of the terrible hunting life!I don't think it was because his dad wanted it!it's because he saw Adam as a normal guy with wishes and not cursed(unlike Sam)a young version of himself who had the choice to stay away from this life, before it's too late!Sam trying to convince Adam to be part of this life the same way John did to Sam was,I don't know, meh for me!like:look who's talking?
