Even if Leo is not as dominant anymore, it goes to show how legendary he is by how much respect the other top players have for him. No one has ever gotten Acola to take off his mask... that's crazy aura
thats true, not even Sparg0 with all of the Finals that they been toghether have gotten the mask out of Acola, MkLeo is still the most respected one here
its like when sonicfox was at evo and was losing and took his hat off, he had never ever done that before. but he came back swinging, creating an evo moment for the ages. now we got the acola version
@@mercurysnake274 "I am thou, thou art I. Thou who art willing to perform all sacrilegious acts for thine own game 4 victory! Call upon my name, and release thy rage!" Acola takes off the mask
When Acola took off his mask like showing respect, I remember when SonicFox did the same thing with his hat, men Leo played like if he was at matrix avoiding everything, but still not enough
Leo seemed to have purposeIy thrown this. No d riding stuff. It was very weird what happened at game 4, when he let acola get half his inventory filled with iron, while leo just stood there. He then kept making bad decisions after that
@@fupaloverIf steve lost his diamonds in inventory and couldn't upgrade while invulnerable after losing a stock, I could kinda see where you're coming from, but Sakurak clearly didn't anticipate how easily an even mildly-competent Steve could wall out the rest of the cast. Diamond lethality combined with Steve's insane frame data just isn't balanced at all.
I think Dabuz and Marss didn’t make him take off his mask, but still had insanely close matches with him. If I was Acola I think I’d be having a heartattack rn after those game 5s
@@ejy-u1x We're powerscaling Pro Players now, the mask is important if we want to put MKLeo in either Planetary or Universal scaling with the feats they've shown thus far.
This is just an unfortunate draw for Leo. He was playing out of his mind, even though he lost, it really did seem like a return to form for Leo. He was getting a bit impatient later on, but still a phenomenal showing from Leo.
Yeah, I don't know if it is because back in the day, he was rarely scared because he was better than most but these days I feel like he is often scrambling. He composure used to be rock solid but it seems like he plays more sloppy than a lot of other top players in those intense situations. Maybe he is just not as used to it as them because he is so used to winning?
I think that Leo is really composed until 90-110% because that is joker kill percent you can see him playing at lot less impatient so that he can get the kill, nothing against Leo (he is my favourite player) but I think in that last game going byleth even though not Leo's strongest character, would have thrown off acola enough to secure the win.
@extonjonas6820 I think it’s important to keep in mind that Leo was known for going to game 5. He’s literally famous for barely winning against top opponents. After a few years everyone just learned from their mistakes and now it’s much more even, which is to be expected.
Well, man, how could he not take it away? If for the first time he was in that situation, he was already in the losers and about to stay in the top 17. Logically, he was going to take it away. They talk about this as if it were a big deal when in reality it wasn't. is
What I’ve noticed from acola in his set between Marss and mkleo is that during game fives he goes all out on the mining and hides as much as he can in the beginning in order to get diamonds as fast as possible. Once he’s maxed out he’s goes absolutely ballistic and spams attacks.
24:48 While Acola's play was questionable at several moments during this set, that fair from Acola was top player decision-making. He knew Leo would try to ledgetrump him again, so he jumped away from the ledge to hit Leo with the fair before Leo could use his bair.
@@1tsbag134Asian cultures were already used to wearing masks even before pandemic, some people do it to keep healthy because city air is definitely not healthy
man Leo played amazing but really didn't like in game 4 when he was up a stock 16:40 he sort of just stopped pressuring for a moment and let Acola fully mine resources I feel like that gave Acola a moment to breath and was a turning point. Also its so frustrating seeing so many random steve F smashes being rewarded not just in the leo set but also the marss one
I mean he naired baired and gunned the wall but Acola used mine cart so he ran out of there. I believe if Leo camped and held his first stock for game it could have went differently. But honestly Steve is just busted so if Leo camps he gets stronger but if Leo approaches Steve can punish. It’s a tough spot to be in
@@kajin2422 Yeah agreed I do wish he had taken the mentality of well I'm up a stock so if you want to camp we can play for time. He ended up letting Acola get resources anyways so might as well have camped him back at that point. But from what I can tell Leo in general doesn't like camping/playing for time.
My man played absolutely phenomenal. I'm pretty sure all the Leo fans are so proud right now. He's just been getting better and better these past few months. Also its just insane how Leo can make me enjoy an Acola game.
Leo getting the game 3 was the most I’ve ever seen him pop off. Check the player cams as he landed that back air! I can’t imagine the crazy pop off he would of had if he actually won the set 🤯
Man, what an AMAZING match. I haven't seen Leo move like this EVER. It was like the EVO 2019 for me. あcola was playing incredibly too! So many great reads and setups!
I was constantly shocked and amazed by his movement in the first two games or so, it only got less noticeable as Acola adapted, I've never seen Joker move like that and gives me hope for Leo, as he is definetly not out of practice with this character. He just played agianst a really good player playing a better character, but he made this matchup look even.
14:13 can someone explain why those two confirms with the drag down up air didn't connect? I'm confused. Was it because Leo took too long the first time? I think if he had done it right away he would've gotten it, but the second try made no sense to me.
The first one missed because the crafting table stopped Leo’s up smash for enough frames for Acola to put up his shield The second one missed because Leo messed up the up air and didn’t land enough hits for it to put a character into enough hitstun to confirm with the up smash
Luugi: “Brother I thought you were going to win I woke up the beast from his slumber last night.” Leo: “The problem is that Joker is not the only one who can take off his mask.”
The Goat played amazing, it awesome to see him playing like that, he must be a looooot better than Acola to get the punishes because the Steve stupid frame data, he outplayed so hard when is able to win and just one mistake is enought to lose all the advantaje. Is frustrating but also shows how good he is
It’s awesome to see Leo Joker being able to at least compete with Acola Steve, gives me hope that I’ll be able to beat the block man one day. Awesome set from both players.
@@mercurysnake274 not really. Most do like 40 and it mostly comes from a grab or falling aerial. Steve can get more damage from a single safe disjointed tilt or jab that has little endlag.
i know he have been saying that leo is back but to be honest lately it kinda feels like he is getting back to prime Leo obviously its more difficult with the current meta and updated playstyles but hes been playing so good lately to even getting Acola to Game5 i think he will slowly but surely get there again
Acola forced to power up and take off the mask to defeat game 4 Leo *spoilers for a couple other sets* As an aside Acola has been fighting for his life since getting sent to losers. Game 5 against Leo, game 5 against Dabuz and game 5 against Marss. He has absolutely had to work for his top 8 spot at this tournament.
Yall dont want to hear it, but Leo choked. The quality of his play went straight down in Game 5. Leo has some of the best spacing in non-Melee smash history, but he was CONSTANTLY misspacing his attacks in G5.
I know acola is good at the game, but seeing him throw slow ass Steve back airs at ledge like Fox would makes me feel like he CANT be good at the game, he’s way too used to letting Steve’s kit be egregious it feels like sometimes his moment to moment decision making looks like elite smash gameplay. Granted I know he can do several of the zero to deaths so I know he’s better than that, but it’s wild to see the vast difference between the two game plans
@@kingkillmger9597i never said spargo was goated for back air, but look me in the face and tell me side b to down air to side b to down air to side b to down air is intelligent gameplay
It’s tough seeing Leo consistently outplaying him most of the set and still losing. Just such a difference in character strength. Acola is definitely a great player but he doesn’t deserve that win.
That was a really good set, cool to see Acola take off his mask like that. Mkleo played great, his Steve counter play was much improved compared to what we've seen in the past. He almost had it in game 4 this time, next time he can get the win.
Sad to see anyone lose to Steve. Such a terrible character to watch. Steve singlehandedly makes me not watch competetive Smash anymore. I only clicked this vid in the hope that Leo won.
People are hating on acola but mkleo respected the blocks way too much. If you let Steve mine all the iron and diamonds he wants, you’re gonna get minecarted or anvilled
Steve has counter play bro you just have to pick up an entirely new character 6 years into this games lifecycle bro and play that character to perfection bro
