In America, there's this massive and widespread assumption that eating healthy food is more expensive. The girl wanting to out caloric values on the restaurants actually works, at least in my experience I've been to a few restaurants with that system on their menus and as yummy as one thing might sound when you see it's over 1000 calories you kind of just look for an option with less, that just my personal experience

Here in the UK, I believe chain restaurants with 20 or more restaurants must have calorific amounts on their menus. As much I like supporting independents, I love to see the calories on a menu. It's an eye-opener.

In Canada all of the big fast food restaurants (McDonalds, Wendy’s, Birger King, etc.) have to post the calories right on menus. Currently Canada has 8% less obese men and 12% less obese women than in the USA. Not that this is the sole cause of the difference in numbers but still it is interesting.

I've been watching this show for a good while and the psychology behind it is incredibly interesting. People with a really unhealthy relationship with food and their bodies tend to keep it behind closed doors so to speak, so the question this begs is "would you feel comfortable watching someone else eat your diet?" A lot of the thought behind eating disorders including over eating that it's only hurting them and some even believe they deserve the punishment so being able to see someone else struggle with what your doing to yourself forces someone to take a look at why they think they deserve to be treated like that if they don't want to see someone else be treated like that.

Funny enough, I used this show as a trigger for my ED years ago. Now, I watch it and find myself in the spot of the super skinny. The psychology really changes people, even if you're a viewer! If I felt bad for the super sizer eating five bites of food a day...why do I feel okay doing that to myself? It makes you re-evaluate your own relationship with food and it helped kick my ass into recovery. I honestly wish this show would come back, and I wish they'd also send the super skinny overseas to see how under eating affects people, it's a good way to see both sides of the scale and how maintaining a healthy middle is always better.

I also have an eating disorder. Thankfully, I’m vegan and vegan food here is pretty hard to find. This means work events, my coworkers and managers have stopped asking me about my food. I never ask them to special-order me anything, and I show up and act social, so they don’t say anything about the food. Maybe you aren’t vegan, so you can say you’re on a specific eating plan. If anyone presses you, you can say it’s personal or even religious. People tend to stop when you bring up religion.

For anyone curious, a corn dog is similar to a battered sausage but has a couple key differences. First, cornmeal is used in the batter. This gives it a fluffier texture and slightly sweeter taste. Second, corn dogs are almost always served on a stick. While they can be eaten as-is, many people add a sauce, such as mustard or ketchup. The US has also created a breakfast version that is sold as a frozen product to heat at home: the inside is a breakfast sausage and is wrapped in a pancake batter. Some versions include chocolate chips in the pancake.
