Glad that found this video on my “15 minute break.” 😅 Today is my first day back to splitting since right before July 4th. I split with the flat side down as well. It just only made sense to do it that way. It just makes it easier to make those slabs that you were talking about, too. I only get “triangles” from the outsides of the rounds. I love making square splits. My customers really love them,…plus the fact that they can easier handle the small splits as well.
@@ifixitall-24-7 I split all of my wood small, and advertise it as recreational firewood. It allows me to sell less desirable wood as bundles at a premium, which ends up twice as much as what a cord of oak sells for. Planning on selling 1/4 cords in the near future, which would still profit more than oak as well. Splitting small keeps the lowball home heating wood buyers at bay.
