If ever an album demanded a full album listen... It's Crime of the Century by Supertramp. Not a bad moment from the second you press play

"You hear the phone ringing?" Actually, that wasn't a phone. It was a Mattel Electronics Football game, which was a first generation handheld game that was very popular at the time. The tone that was in the song was the tone you get when you fail to get a first down on 4th down and have turned the ball over to the opponent.

Supertramp could do NO wrong in the 70's. So many amazing songs.

I’ve got to be honest; I never gave this group a chance because of their name. It’s stupid. I’m glad I’ve finally started listening to them. They are so fantastic. So many good songs. This particular album is amazing from beginning to end.

Time to get back to Supertramp guys.............No wrong selections but I'd go with "Take the Long Way Home" next

Supertramp was such a "tight" band, yet progressive in their song structures. They went from one mood to an entirely different one in a breath... and you could feel the angst in their vocal deliveries. Rodger..."Jesus"... is the smooth-voiced, multi-instrumental, guy who sang their biggest hits... but I love Rick Davies... the other front man on keys... his voice goes from bar room gravelly, to a high falsetto... but he sings with all-out emotion in some of their best songs IMO. From the same album, try "Goodbye Stranger"...or from their best album try "Asylum" or "Bloody Well Right".... so many great songs! For another GREAT sax solo, try Edgar Winter "Easy Street"!

The whole Breakfast in America album is amazing! Goodbye Stranger is the next track on the album. Recommend!

‘Take The Long Way Home’ … you’ll love it.

Roger's song is about being sent to boarding school for 10 years and what the hell it was all about. His voice is so amazing and there was no auto-tune back in 79. He's still singing and performing this in his 70s and can still hit those notes. John is always fantastic on the sax.

Finally, my favourite band of all time. The Logical Song and Goodbye Stranger are the two most played songs from the album but there is not a bad song on the LP. You need to hit ANY song from their four consecutive classic albums between 1974-79: Crime of the Century (my favourite album by anyone ever), Crisis? What Crisis?, Even in the Quietest Moments and Breakfast In America (their most successful commercially). The next LP, Famous Last Words (1982) is also a great album. Please, please guys react to a lot more Supertramp. The ultimate anti-education system song by them is School, the lead tune from Crime of the Century. It has such a haunting harmonica intro. Supertamp uses a lot of saxophone, harmonica and even occasional clarinet but they are most known for the electric piano playing of lead singers/somgwriters Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson. Their overall musicianship is among the best of any group but their lyrics are often serious with great social commentary. Get on the 'Tramp train boys.

That whole album is amazing! Not one weak song. *The cover is iconic.

This album was extremely rare in that it was flawless. Set aside the time one day and listen to it straight through. Its more than worth it.

So glad you guys are finally doing some Supertramp......Such a gifted, versatile, and under appreciated band IMO. You could literally pick 15-20 of their songs and they would leave you blown away. The harmonica in "Take The Long Way Home", is mesmerizing to me. Thanks so much guys, hope you enjoy this band and get to more of their great stuff in the coming months.
