I like the gear ratios in the R154 transmission and wish it were feasible to use the 1st gear for my R155 transmission, but can't due to the secondary/countershaft is a one piece unit unlike the primary/main shaft. The ratios of 2nd through 5th are so close between these 2 transmissions, but 1st is 3.95 in the R155 and the desired ratio is in the R154 with a 3.25. My application is in a supercharged 2013 Tacoma base cab to X-runner Jr./Runt conversion. Maybe someone will produce a replacement secondary shaft so the 1st gear problem can be cured. The R155 was used from 2005 through 2015 and I see some using it in drift cars and drag racing. Your Supra is quite the nice piece and the transmission build looks good too.

Great video. I read somewhere that that the southbend stage 3 endurance will hold 600ft/Lb. Did I read wrong? Is this what you went stage 4? Ty.

I don’t remember reading the stage 3 holding that much torque, but I know for a fact the stage 4 does which is why I got it

Not sure if a kit like this exists for the W58, but it holds far less power stock than a R154, so I don't think it would hold anywhere near as much as a built R154. In that case I would suggest just save for the t56 or cd009 swaps available for these cars.

Southbend clutch? Indiana south bend clutch? Lol if so I have my old mk3 stored up in Michigan with a $950 south bend clutch (can’t remember which one though, years ago). Oh nevermind I see palm trees in background so your in the south somewhere lol

Wow, thanks for bringing me back to this. I should do a follow up vid lol. Holding 637 whp 601 tq with hard driving (no launches tho) with zero issues. Just needs another clutch (probably a throwout bearing or just pressure plate) but even then the south bend is not slipping. I just feel the pedal pulsating
