Thanks for all of your suggestions, information, and encouragement PK. It is always appreciated. And may you always have "tight lines". Happy fishing!!!
Hey PK, it’s awesome to hear about barview jetty being your first spot, I swear it was mine as well my grandparents owned property in rockaway on Washington St I use to just walk down to the beach and start fishing I caught tons of fish there over the years with my grandfather. That brings back some very fond memories.
Very informative and a great piece of intel to keep in the back pocket! I have fished Neskowin area many times with poor results, I will definitely try out Tierra Del Mar and Lincoln city instead. Thanks again PK!
Hey PK, I've been skunked numerous times at Gearheart and Barview Jetty. If you ever want to experience the adventure of getting skunked, let me know and I'll be happy to show you how it's done! :)
This is a video that Im glad alot of people arent searching for. This is quality info. I have fished several of these beaches. Even kape kiwanda is good if you can get away from the dorys launching.
great job PK I would like to thank you so much for showing me your fishing spot and now i can go out and fish and hope to caught my limits of redtail perch!:)
Thank you. I am heading out all the way from Nebraska and will be looking for different spots to try my luck at surf fishing. Will be there to both crab and surf fish. Neither we get to do in Nebraska. Planning on staying at Newport for a couple of days. Thank you for both your crabbing and fishing videos. I have an idea of what to look for, and where to fish now.
I too have been surf fishing ever since I was 12. It now 6 decades later and still get that thrill of hooking up those red tipped surf perch! Like most I use my surf fishing rig consisting of a large spinning reel with a good 10ft fishing rod. Like most people into surf fishing I always catch something! Even a few flounders as well! I do love the jetty fishing also! Without telling too much I find any rock out cropping to be beneficial for surf fishing, But that's just my opinion.
Thanks, PK! This was excellent! You didn't make it as far down the coast as my favorite spot, Gold Beach, but like you said, Redtails are where you find them!
Yes, Roads End at North end of Lincoln City is a Marine Reserve, runs to NW 30th... Surftides Hotel.... Then a MPA to South, so some take allowed...check regulations.
Thank yoy for the video. It was vary helpful. you every have any luck in Florence Oregon? Wanting to take my son to a safe, (not to far from springfield) place to fish. Everyone keeps telling Jetty fishing is the way to go. But He is to small for that.
Great Video PK. I go to Gearhart often because we have a condo there. Is there any place to rock fish without a boat? Is the jetty by fort stevens open to fish from?
@@politicalcorner162 I like to try a little bit of everything honestly. Just depends on what they really wanna bite on. I like to use a good variety of stuff though!
pk, understanding tide time for example when it says high tide is at 6am is that the peak when the tide is at its highest? or the begging of high tide? please help
Hey PK, thanks for the informative videos! They have been a big help as I recently moved to Oregon and wanted to start fishing some new species. I know most fish have worms or other parasites in them and that cooking will kill them off. I have found them for years in fish I have caught. My recent surf perch trip resulted in fish that were infested with parasitical worms, sometimes having 3 per filet of meat. I know it should be safe as long as it is cooked above 145*F, but the infestation of worms is just a bit much. Have you come across fish with this many parasites in them? I caught them near Beverly Beach, just north of Newport. I am just curious as to whether this is what to expect from surf perch.
The warmer the water, the more common they are. Ergo, later into Summer you go, more you will see. Just use the tip of a sharp fillet knife and pull them out if they are off-putting to you. They really aren't harmful to us, but the idea of eating them certainly isn't a nice one. Thankfully they really are easy to remove. A bright light and sharp knife = done.
Question about Gearhart, will my two wheel drive Honda Civic be able to drive along the beach? I know some beaches can be flatter than others and easier to drive on. Please let me know, thanks PK.
Which one is best for pier fishing in Oregon ??? I saw your video on RU-vid at video and you said moved to California so I need to someone know about piers fishing in Oregon
I don't know of any ocean piers in Oregon. Newport (Yaquina bay), and Tillamook bay at Garibaldi have public piers for fishing in the bays. The Newport dock is west of the marina, south side of the bay, not far from the brewery. This south bay area has good jetty access too. North side has spots too. See myodfw.com/articles/marine-fishing-oregons-central-coast For Yaquina bay fishing. See visitgaribaldi.com/piers-end/ for the Garibaldi pier.
Hi PK. we are in Las Vegas looking for something new. tired of the desert. Could you please tell me where you recommend to live with house in decent neighborhood and great price and decent drive to the ocean. does not have to be to close but not several hours. My husband has watched your videos and I follow you too. Thank you.
From Vegas to Oregon, that's quite a change. I've always liked small towns over big cities, so I might be biased. To me, Corvallis Oregon is perfect, as it's only 1 hour from the coast. However, housing can be expensive here due to it being a college town. Then there is also Albany 15 minutes away where housing is cheaper. Albany isn't too far from the coast either. Most of the towns here in Oregon are nice and quiet - compared to the hustle-and-bustle of Las Vegas. I have a friend who lives in McMinville who said it's really quiet there, and the housing is decent. And it's pretty close to the coast. Not related, but my next move is Newport as I love to be on the coast due to my lifestyle - and I want to raise my son in a small town atmosphere. Hope this helps a little bit, and maybe a local Oregonian will chime in. Good luck in your search.
Oregon Life Awesome! Thank you for helping I appreciate it so much. This should help yes it will be a big change if that is where we end up. raising kids in a small town is much better then a hustle and bustle city. I wish you well and hopefully we stay connected. thank you
Don’t go to Horsfall beach guys, it’s a horrible beach, you won’t catch anything at all and I’m definitely not telling you this because I live 10 minutes away from there and that’s my fishing spot, so just don’t go there okay?
