Surface Pro 8 yay or nay? 👇

You can use the trackpad without clicking. One finger touch is left mouse button. Two fingers touch is right button. I personally find this way of working way faster than physically clicking.

On the Surface Prox with LTE when removing the keyboard there is a small keyboard icon you have to press on the right side of the taskbar and then the keyboard comes up. You can also customize the virtual keyboard to look different and to either start as a keyboard or a writing pad. Experiencing noissue whatsoever with Window 11 on this one. Great video as always.

FYI they've fixed the touch keyboard issue. I had the same issue. I bought the i7 16gb version. Performance is so much better than my base model Surface Book 3. Runs like a dream. I think the return of active cooling probably helps.

ur a legend. no one has mentioned any of the things you've mentioned. And as a user of the surface pro 5, I've had the same keyboard issue. I eventually had to put a KB icon on the taskbar bc the normal mechanism for it to come up is so glitchy (even to this day).

is it possible to use the keyboard when it's detached? physical therapist recommended screen elevated and separate keyboard. I'd be fine with a cord connection if needed. thank you for the review!

I am experiencing the touch keyboard not popping up you mentioned in my SP9. I dont know how to fix it... I updated already. Still doesn't work fine...

Thanks for the great review. I own a Surface Pro X and I noticed that you mentioned you also own one. Could you help me answer a couple of questions? 1. How is the weight and thickness compared to the SP8? Does it feel significantly heavier and bulkier to the SPX? 2. Other than the 120Hz, is there a big difference in the display of the SP8 vs the SPX (especially with regards to color accuracy) 3. I find that Xbox cloud gaming on the SPX is terrible (lot of lag, lower resolutions). I don't have the same issue when I use it on my iPad Pro connected to the same WiFi network. How is cloud gaming on the SP8? 4. Does the fan turn on most of the times? And is it very loud? Sorry for all the questions, but after scouring the internet I couldn't find the right platform to find the answers to my questions, hope you could help to answer them ;)

The thing with the surface pen, that it is not soft on touch anymore, it is actually very important, atleast for me it is, I had for a long time a Samsung Tab s4, it worked great but the only thing it bothered me was the way it felt when I was writing or drawing something, it felt weird. I tried to do it on a Surface 5 pro and it was a tottaly other feeling, it made me sell my Samsung tablet and buy a Surface :)

One thing I always wonder is why doesn’t anyone do a surface review with the tablet only. That’s how they ship and how they are used in the NFL, but every time I see someone with a surface they have the type cover. And like at that point why not just get the surface laptop.

haven't heard this in any review but I bought the surface pro 8 mostly for using onenote and its heating up after one hour writing on it with the pen. Microsoft already switched my device but I have the exact same problem with the new one. and it appears I'm not the only one. there are hundreds of complaints and questions about this problem in the Microsoft community chat.

Question, are you able to use the keyboard wirelessly, meaning it doesn't have to be attached and still be able to type with it?

Question; is there anywhere to store the pen if you don't own the keyboard? I plan on using a separate bluetooth keyboard

For as long as 2 in 1 tablet exist, i've always wanted one but after tasting ipad with the keyboard case, I find 2 in 1 tablet isn't for me with the case double as keyboard. I've travelled a lot and type on soft or small spaces and it has been a nightmare with this kind of 2 in 1. That's why I stick with Yoga for 2 in 1

Can you not remain in desktop mode all the time? With my older model I never go on tablet mode. This would be a deal breaker for me.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 battery life is only four hours is it normal

Great and very useful review I have subscribed. I had exactly the same missing on screen keyboard both with my SP8 and upgrading to W11 on a HP Envy laptop. Silly. You are not the only one to complain about the noisy trackpad. I was all for returning my SP8 - also irritated by the storage solutions (no microSD slot and a hard to find Nvme 2230 SSD card for upgrades) - but I knew about those when I bought it and its beauty and speed is now growing one me.

the price difference is just not justified. going from i5 to i7 costs $750

I have 2 questions: 1) What is the smoothest way to connect Surface pro 8 to a computer monitor? 2) Is that possible to charge Surface Pro 8 with USB-C port? (I guess it will be much much slower?)

Microsoft still needs to work on improving the touch tablet experience on Windows 11. Aren’t there any iPad users in the company? Just for research and comparison purposes? Also make it more portrait friendly as well.

Now, a lot of these things are mostly problems with Windows 11... So that's not really the fault of the device, and more the fault of Windows. If you take a look at the current Insider builds, they are already much better. I do however also have some problems with touch input, and I don't know if that is due to Windows or due to the device firmware... Now, when you get a new device with windows, you always have to install a bazillion updates. And you can't really install them all at once. It doesn't work because some updates rely on others being installed first, so you need to go in and do a couple of searches for updates and reboots until you have all the updates installed.

You realise you don't have to click down on the trackpad on PCs right? I NEVER click it, just tap.

As a desktop user who also has a Surface the biggest downside to the Surface and the reason I still have to keep my desktop is that the Surface can only add 2 external monitors. My 7 yr old Dell PC can run 3 very big ones. With the Surface I'd have to use the small Surface monitor as my 3rd monitor which is a significant downgrade to what I've been using for over 10 years.

I thought it was clickbait but it was true. No reviewer talks about using it as a tablet which is what I will mostly use it for

I see the appeal of this device for people that want a laptop that can occasionaly be used as a tablet or need pen input mainly on a tablet. But as a pure laptop or tablet it is a compromised device. If you use a tablet anywhere else than on a table, e.g. standing, this is very heavy, more than previsous Surface pro, let alone iPads. Many buy it more as a very portable laptop, but there are many lighter devices that work better on a lap, which means sitting but without a desk, typical in airports, stations, waiting rooms, taxis (and then you have always that guy that will comment that nobody should use a laptop on their lap, just because he never needs to and never works on the go...). As a very portable device, I hope MS will give more power and premium specs to their surface go, maybe with ARM, which at least is truly portable and would make for an iPad like experience as a tablet, but is underpowered and with very short battery life... (let alone poor in terms of speakers, screen etc...) because for Microsoft small means cheap/budget unfortunately

It's more of a problem than a solution...

I just upgraded from surface pro3 to surface pro 8 . But I still feel surface pro 3 is much better than pro8. The spro3 screen is gorgeous. Pro8 battery sucks. In Windows 11, they removed few use ful features. I really don't know, only an idiot can make those changes. God save microsoft. End of Microsoft is nearing.

8gb ram enough for it? open 15 chrome tabs, open facebook and youtube on firefox at the same time, have the dropbox and afew apps working at the background, then we talk again about 8gb ram, never buy a laptop or desktop with 8gb of ram.

Dude you are nitpicking and complaining about the stupidest things I've ever heard. It is definitely a QUIRK ABOUT YOU, IT IS YOU. If something does not work after an update, it is common knowledge that you have to manually go in and update it, sometimes multiple times until all of the updates are in sync. Holding the device in the air and complaining that the track pad is too loud in a quiet environment is ridiculous. Obviously you are looking for the smallest things to complain about. Just do yourself a favor and return the product and hope and pray that a company will make a product that fits your extremely weird quirky needs. You seriously need some help.
