Full carbon fiber surfboard glassing but this time I did not use the vacuum technique - I wanted to be able to compare between the two, it worth the time and the effort of the vacuum? and extra cost? let's find out!

Welcome to my channel
My name is Koby and I am a surfboard shaper from Israel
For the last 7 years, I shape and build surfboards in my small workshop here in Israel. I will upload surfboard-building tutorials, shaping tools reviews, and great tips about working with epoxy resin.
All my boards are made from EPS and epoxy resin and I like to go crazy with my resin! I will do swirls using tints and pigments, cloth inlays, weird shapes, and more.
I can talk about surfboards all day, so feel free to ask me any questions you may have and I will do my very best to answer them in the best way possible

Hi Koby, I have seen in other videos that they place the fiberglass over the carbon fiber. Which do you think is the best way, placing the carbon fiber on the fiberglass or the other way around? Thanks

Looks awesome. Why the 4oz and carbon fibre on the deck? More for strength?

Not really for strength- more for the advantages and flex the fiberglass has but more than that- pressure dents protection. I have one i am riding hard for over one year, i just cleaned the old wax of it and it looks like new - absolutely amazing 🤩

No difference other than the fact that lamination is harder, laps and tail area, the final result is perfect 🤩

Well done. 🙏 What kind of resin do you use? I see it has a slight blue tint; is that UV protection or a filler?

I use Kwik Kick by Resin Research, the blue tint is the uv protection and you only see it in the container- once spread on the surface it is clear as glass

@@kobymaymonsurfboards7320 i use it too, very nice to lam with. can be finnicky for coating. i saw you did the final coat with a concrete sealer of some sort. which one? and how durable is something like that?

Did you grind the edges of the lap before laminating the deck?

What did you use to tint the resin? Epoxy tint?

Hi, liquid pigment for epoxy that you can find at any surfboard material supply 🤙🏼 for dark results as this you should use 5% of the total resin for the hot cote for this side 🏄🏻‍♂️
