Surpass Hobby 5 slot 16T crawler motor tested in FTX Outback Fury 

I done a couple of 5 slot videos on my channel as well. With it stalling in the mud, it's due to the grit and sedament from the dirt going into the brush guide and it causes the brushes to sit, so the springs can't push them inwards towards the comm. If it stalls on the field, use a small pointy thing to push the brushes in a bit, and give them a gentle pull in and out to free them up and it'll run again. I tried a few 5 slots myself, but for trailing i still prefer a 3 slot. The 5 slot is smoother, but the drag brake is worse, and they lack punch and raw power. Only beneficial when on rocks for me.

Love the Fury, with this motor is a beast.

Hope they remedied that problem, just picked up one to play around with in the Gen8. Got a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport in 8t coming next week . Will be curious to see how they compare.

Are you using the Supass Crawler ESC too? I bought the 550 10T five slot with the 80A crawler ESC combo for my Element Enduro Kit. I started with a 17T pinion and it was too fast. I have a 13T pinion coming tomorrow though so hoping I can get the speed down

Ok, dont use WD40 or penetrating fluids in your motors, just put it in clean water and turn the wheel while holding down the throttle. As soon as the motor starts turning it will flush out all the dirt by itself as long as the water is clean.

ANY brushed motor will get mud inside it!!! Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out that you're going to have issues when the motor is full of mud!!!!!! Clean water would not be an issue...however it does cause accelerated brush wear.

Good video! I've been using that motor in my FTX Fury Xtreme for some time and I think it's great for general crawling in the woods. Depending on the ESC and the Transmitter you can actually get overtaken by a snail when you go really slow. Love the location you drive at... Not had one of them rebuildable motors that was any good in mud and dirt from the cheapest to the dearest .the silver can types work fine but them rebuildable things are junk only any good in tamiya type buggies doing light off-road stuff but in crawlers .useless
