Funny you got it this early, unbound by NDAs and release schedules. I think it is a cool addition to that particular lineup of small Moogs, and a rather bold one at that. Looking forward to get mine to play with them all!
It will take a little getting used to, I think. Like the Subharmonicon, or a Buchla Easel, it's not something you can sit down and wrap your mind around in an hour or two. (Or at least I can't). I hope the vendor doesn't get penalized for jumping the gun. I wonder if it was an honest gaffe. or an insider with an axe to grind.
Such a nice story, you took a chance and it paid off, we get to enjoy your good fortune, I'm glad someone that understands this got one to show us. No doubt the usual YT'ers will be demo'ing this in the coming future
Not sure if you getting this is a mistake or a cunning marketing gimmick but congrats, looks interesting. I feel someone at Moog has been paddling in the Eurorack pool😁
@@dankeplace Quiet bleeps, ‘bug zapper’ with ocassional ‘ring mod’, then crackles and pops. Nothing to the Labyrinth worthy of the Moog name, nor of its price tag. Robert must be spinning in his grave …
Thanks for the video but that was so slow I tried speeding it up but then it sounded weird. Needed some edits maybe. Cool you got a vid out before everyone.
Thanks for the video. Based on the labels, bit flip should toggle all the LEDs in the sequencer, and bit shift should move them all one step--either left or right. There's probably a button combo that lets you make the shift go the opposite of the default. It looks like you were supposed to change the length of the bottom sequence to five steps. Constructive criticism: If you make more videos you might want to try practicing your script. I was able to speed up your intro by 1.5x to 2x and it was still completely understandable. I'd love to hear one of the melodic patches.
I played around with the sequencer buttons last night. Pressing the Bit flip button when a step is played changes the state of that step. I didn't try it, but I guess if you hold down the bit flip button, each step will change as it's played. You're right about bit shift. It shifts the sequence one step to the right when pressed. As far as my presentation goes, I appreciate your input. I would have put more time and effort into a script, but it's hard for me to muster up the discipline. That's why I rarely do dialog (in fact, this maybe the first time I provided commentary).
Im still trying to understand where this differs from a DFAM… they sound almost exactly the same… I still use my DFAM but I’m not messing with this. Rather by pre-buy out Moog stuff going forward.
The Labyrinth can sound a lot like the DFAM. The Labyrinth has a 2 pole state-variable LP/BP filter, the DFAM has a 4 pole low pass filter. The Labyrinth has wavefolding, the DFAM doesn't. The Labyrinth has a built in ring modulator, the DFAM doesn't. The Labyrinth has MIDI in (clock and note), the DFAM doesn't. The Labyrinth's 2 sequencers don't have programmable steps. They do have selectable scales that generate the notes (I guess that's the "Generative" part in "Parallel Generative Analog Synthesizer"). The DFAM has its single programmable sequencer. The DFAM's 2 oscillators have square and triangle waveforms available, and can be hard synced. The Labyrinth's 2 oscillators are different from each other. The audio oscillator has a sine wave output, and goes up to 5kHz. The modulation oscillator has a triangle output, and goes to 1.3kHz. The Labyrinth has a 32 point patchbay, the DFAM's is 24 patch points. I'm sure there's more, but this is enough for now.
The price for what you get seems not that bad. At the same time it seems really aimed at the modular crowd many of which will find it at least partly redundant. If just starting down that path this to me seems not the greatest trail head...
Nice, waiting the rest demos. In firts moments it's seems nothing special and too many key combos not easy to memorise in this impression. Thanks for share!!!
Congrats on your acquisition, doesn't matter how you got it, just that you have one. Be interesting what manufacture number you have, if it's stamped or not. Sounds like a rabbit hole sound machine, thank you for doing it justice sound wise, some of the other uploads are bad by comparison.
The serial number is some long-ass, mega-conglomerate type number, as opposed the the usual Moog style 4 or 5 digit number. It's definitely a rabbit hole synth. A slight turn of the right knob can give you a whole different sound.
sweetwater says "no earlier than the tenth" whatever that means, why are MOOG being so weird about this? don't they want money. just bizarre how this is being handled.
Just letting you know that someone who is using your footage, they've accused you of working for Moog. So they bottom feed your upload then think they can disparage you in the process.
@@dougllewellyn4620 Good, I think it's unfair they use your works, only to discredit or accuse/ make false claims when they have no proof and are only trying to get traction off your works. Personally I think it's great you got this and are willing to share your journey.
Somebody will have a visit from the police over this. 🕵️♂️ imho it’s probably stolen goods. If so, you should not have bought it - never mind showed it off.
@@dankeplace where the hell is all this hate coming from? lol. iI didn't get any of that out of this video, maybe I missed something. This was not stolen, there was a mix up with retailers, sweetwater sold a few as well, they will be available after the tenth is what i have heard.
@@Post-destination just an observation. Suspicious the so-called retailer (who exactly??) sent it out and didn’t contact the buyer about it being a mistake. I’ve seen this happen in other hobbies. I’m sure it’s getting looked into. I certainly wouldn’t be on RU-vid showing off a product I know damn well isn’t released, from a brand I allegedly support, without their permission. That for me is a red flag. 🚩
@@jasonchristian8362 Idk, I think Debbie thinks that Sting's group The Police wanted to buy some? Anyways I think it's a cool little unit and people will be able to go much further with the other offerings, I think it's up to 5 now in that group? Mother 32 DFAM Subharmonicon Spectravox Labyrinth
