The fact that the Jets won 7 games despite only having 11 passing touchdowns all last year is a testament to the team and the defense playing together even with the dismal quarterback play.

I want to see Zack Kuntz after a year of learning and working with Rodgers. I think he will be the Jets #3 TE on the roster.

Agree with all your points Matt. We have solid tight ends right now. Conklin looked good last year and so did Rukert during his opportunities. Safety is solid, I think better than coming into the past few seasons. Not every part of the defense needs to be elite. I think the Jets missed out not taking another WR in the 4th round this past year. There were still some good WR available, but the Jets preferred to trade down instead. Until Mike Williams is healthy, Lazard is WR 2.

Hey Matt! Big props for your incredible Jets content! I'm new to the Jets Content World, and I'd love any tips you can share. Regarding the TE position, although we lack a traditional route-running TE, having Conk and Ruckert works well with the Jets' usage of that role-I'm totally okay with it! I really hope the Jets prioritize strengthening the interior O-line next; it's a critical area of need!

Conklin was good with Wilson and co. lol he will be better with Rodgers, they drafted Ruck in the #rd round, Yboah and Kuntz can be very good if they develop

I don't think it's a weakness. Conklin is good, and Ruckert never had a chance to catch.

I think the assessments about the need for a TE are off. Conklin was 13th in yardage amongst all TEs while playing on a team that ranked 3rd from last in passing yards. He was 2nd in pass catching yardage for the team. TE wasn't the issue last season. QB and play calling were. My guess...if Rodgers stays healthy there is a chance that Conklin's production goes up. Even if it isn't in yardage it could be in TDs.

I think Conklin is a good pass catching tight end.

Jets don't need another TE. Jets could probably use another Olineman. Someone will emerge as another Dlineman. The defensive backfield will be fine also. Jets got a lot of UDFA that look promising. If Jets decide to part ways with Conklin after this season then look to bring in another.

In my opinion, the jets are fine at TE. Conklin was ok with horrible QB play and Ruckert showed flashes with not many snaps. Historically, Rodgers doesn’t throw to tight ends a whole lot. The jets have bigger needs than tight end. People outside of the fan base that say that the jets need a tight end are just holding on to the fact that Bowers was linked to the jets and it didn’t happen. They just think a tight end is needed because the jets were linked to one.

Backup depth at safety, receiver, and line is all the Jets need now to be a SB-caliber team. If it was somehow possible to get all of that and still have the flexibility to make more moves, the next upgrade should be backup linebacker instead of TE

Ruckert has suffered perhaps more than anyone else in this offense under poor coaching and QB play. I want to see a big jump from Ruckert this season.

Why TE? What is wrong with Conklin and Ruckert? Conklin was good last year considering how bad QB plays we had. We need much more from Lazard or one more decent WR this season.

What we need is a real run stopping DT. I wish we could have gotten the best DT in the draft at 10 but Oline was more of a need. Imagine a guy like Aaron Donald next to Quinnen Williams. That would make the NYJ defense the best in the NFL

It doesn't matter who's playing TE if you don't have an actual OC to coach them up and put them in situations and schemes to be successful. Rumor has it they actually TRIED to replace Hackett but failed. ThatBig problem going forward that will cost Saleh and Douglas ther jobs and the Jets, a playoff spot.

Contributing factors for last year should be ranked COACHING, COACHING, COACHING, O-Line, then QB Play. The coaching on the offenseive side has been so piss poor it's really not fair or even reasonable to put QB play anywhere near the top of why the Offense failed.

I like the TE's we have Conklin caught everything thrown to him he made bad throws look easy with horrific QB play his numbers should get better with Rodgers throwing to him Signing OL and a Safety is more a need

Actual needs: safety, interior defensive line, vet receiver. Not a tight end.

Conk will be wat better this year. Ruckert as well. Rodgers will find ways to use both.

My impression of Conklin is that he's been needed so much for protection that they haven't afforded to use him as a catcher.

I think Jets fans overate the current TE room because Ruckert is a local fan favorite. He MIGHT still develop into a good passing threat but not guaranteed to. Kuntz also MIGHT develop into a real pass catching weapon, but will he ever be a good blocker? That said I don't think anyone in the current free agent market is worth picking up. Brock Bowers would have brought this offense to the next level but no backup tackle would have been as good as Fashanu. Would of been like having a Farari that was subject to breaking down, now we have a Mustang(which may be enough with this defense).

Above average play with way below average QB's. We'll be fine at TE with Rodgers under Center.

i’d try to sign simmons and mcgovern. i trust our guys on offense + don’t think there’s much left out there worth bringing in as a fa on the offensive side of the ball

The 1 area that is an absolute necessity. to be upgraded is at Hackett position 😤😠😡 ! Personally I wanted Joe Brady or Kliff Kingsbury 😉💣 ! But instead we got. ( 💩 ) if or when Rodgers goes down !

I love our TE room. We have competent players in that room. The problem is Matt, or OC can't seem to come up with a scheme in the Red Zone to target our TE's. I'm pretty sure that Rogers won't have any problems changing the plays at the line if he see that our TE has the advantage over who is checking them. Hackett has to do a better job scheming our skill players. As far as to adding a players or two. I would like to add another run stopping DT. We did a little better last season in stopping the run. but, we can always improve at that position. I also totally agree with you in bringing bac Connor to back up the Center position. The Safety room is solid as well as WR. But, if we could bring in two Vets to solidify those two positions, our fan base wouldn't compliant at all.

All of you Jets podcasters endlessly chase celebrities in football instead of looking at how great the guys on the roster are and for sure Tyler Conklin is a good QB who deserves better than this post.
