I have been following bro Gbile since 1996. Now I'm that I'm close to 50 I"m still following him and I have no regret. I am one open to the truth. The prosperity preaching is not in itself bad, but it has been abused and has caused the faith to be caricatured. I believe the issue with the so called prosperity message is that we spend so much time trying to preach against the errors advanced by “false teachers”. Very little time is spent teaching people on true biblical prosperity. In fact, I consider it an error to fight against the prosperity message because that’s the core message the Bible teaches - 2 Jn. 1:2; Lk. 4:18-21; Deut. 28:1-14; Gen. 12:1-3. We should teach people what true biblical prosperity is and not create the impression through our teachings that the word “prosperity” is a cuss word or a taboo. We do not fight darkness by talking about its woes. Rather we should fight it by simply turning on the light and emphasizing it’s benefits - Jn. 1:4-5. I started listening to Bro Gbile in my early years of christianity as a corp member in Ilorin. Praise God, I'm a member of Living Faith Church under the mentorship of Bishop David Oyedepo. I'm looking forward to seeing both in heaven. I can't join to judge any because I've never heard Bishop Oyedepo talk about anyman of God on the pulpit. He loves the church of Jesus too much for that and he is busy loving Jesus. He is on the streets doing evangelism. Every man to his calling. We need both in the kingdom. Both sold out to God. Locate your place and spend your time loving Jesus and not arguing about who is better between the 2. Don't join the same case of 'I follow Paul or I follow Apollos'. And it works, all we need in the body is a balanced teaching because the Name of God is heavy and we need resources to take it to the nations. Do not condemn a man from afar, living faith church is one church nobody ask you to bring anything even for church projects. No form of donation is announced in church. If you want to give, it's never out of compulsion and almost done in anonymity.

Perhaps many may still not get the gist of what oyedepo said. There are entities like oyedepo which had ^revived^ the age of babylon with the beastly-gold: nebuchadnezzar/belshazzar hunting Saints like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael & Azariah being hunted for persecution. It/oyedepo had never never been called by JESUS CHRIST, so steadfastness couldn't have been its strong-point.

Truth prosperity has taught by the bible is not a problem. God want us to prosper, but so many preachers today preach prosperity messages to siphon money from their congregation. Many preachers even put their congregation under curse because of certain money they are supposed to pay but they don't. As much as know, new testament giving is by willingness and each person has the right to give willingly as God has blessed him. Any preacher who force money from the pocket of the congregation as a way of prosperity is a joker and has missed the true gospel of prosperity.

With due respect to Bro Gbile, I read many of Kenneth Haigen's books and there were great things I learnt from it. Well, we all are mere mortals. There was a time when i was young deeper life didnt use Television, wedding gown, fast forward to the future... Doctrines of men! Smh!! There is nothing strange or 'surprising' in the message of Bishop Oyedepo that you streamed because that is the same message the man has been preaching since his church membership was only thirteen people. It still remains the same message and is not going to change tomorrow. It can only be strange to his detractors and people like yourself who will label him a 'money' preacher or 'prosperity preacher' even when none of you had ever listened to him nor attended his service to know the kind of messages he preaches. And rather than for Gbile Akanni to be criticising the fathers of faith like Kenneth Hagin and others, he would be better off asking his fellow preachers why they have twisted the doctrine Kenneth Hagin preached to suit and satisfy their greed. It is on record that Nigerians are known for bastardizing any good thing that is brought into the country-whether it be the gospel or any new craze. I have read most of Hagin's books and heard his messages and nowhere did the man say that you should abandon your morning devotion for ''success affirmations'' as Gbile tried to say. There is a need for Christians to understand the difference between godly prosperity and worldly prosperity. Pastors should not confuse these two lines. Prosperity, i.e., "GODLY PROSPERITY" is a very significant part of the Gospel. So, when preachers speak against the prosperity gospel, they should be clear on the type of prosperity they are talking about, and I suppose they mean the worldly propserity. Prosperity is a necessity for the advancement of the gospel and reaching out to the lost souls. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Noah, etc. and many men of God were wealthy men, yet they served the Lord. Paul was a tent maker, some of the Jesus disciples were fishermen in their days and they would be considered rich, yet they followed Christ and changed the world. God did not call Christains to be poor and beggars. The preaching that conditions Christians to think that they should be poor to make heaven is not a balanced preaching. What Jesus and the Scriptures prescribed is CONTROL AND DOMINION OVER MONEY, RICHES, WEALTH, OR MAMMON. We are not to be controlled by them 😮and we must channel those resources for the purpose of the Kingdom of God. This is the balanced preaching on prosperity gospel. It should not be lopsided so as to make pastors or preachers who preach on prosperity look like false teachers. It is true theat there are lots of charlatans now of the pulpit also using propserity preaching to entice people. So Christians are to test every Spirit and now which is of God. You also look out for their fruits... their works, if it allaigns with the purposes of the Kingdom When pastors levy their members, entice them to give to receive miracles or blessings so they can make themselves rich, that becomes ungodly propserity. When we acquire riches and wealth through means which are against God's ordinances, stealing or proportion of worldly passions such ad we see in entertainments etc. these are ungodly propserity. The story of Lazarus and the rich man is not to depict that all rich people are sinners and will go to hell, and all poor people are rigtheous and will go to Heaven. Reading carefully we understand that the rich man failed to use his riches for the purpose of God and humanity. Rather, he enjoyed an affluent life and cared less for those in need, suffering and in pain like Lazarus. He worshipped his money, mammon! And cared not for the things of God. Conclusion: 1. Preaching against "Prosperity Gospel" should be done in a balanced way so as not to confuse people into thinking that God prefers to make Christians poor. There is not consistent with the Holy Scriptures. 2. Whether a Christian is poor or rich is entirely up to them. It depends on how they appropriate the covenants of prosperity to their lives. 3. Confessing that you are an overcomer or that you will be rich "- the godly way", with the mind of being diligent with your work, transparent, faithful in dealing and to serve the puposes of promoting God's Kingdom agenda is wonderful for a believer. Or would you rather confess that you want to be poor and wretched? 4. If God our Father God Almighty could design the breathtaking galaxies, the expanse of the universe, create the man in his own image.... how much more will he freely give us all things if we ask... according to his will. He said, seek ye first the Kingdom of God and All these things shall be added unto you. 5. The principle of kingdom prosperity is seeking God first. To God, riches, wealth, and prosperity are mere additions to the believer because he does not put his trust in those riches. Rather, his trust is in God. Stay blessed!
