We should be thankful to God that pastor’s children are now responsible and taking over the kingdom work from their parents. ln the past most of their parents have no time to train them but were given to the ministry and neglect their families, while the children became bad eggs in the society. We have a change of mind. Please allow the fathers to keep their children in God’s work instead of satan inheriting them.

If the church is your personal business then by all means groom your son to take over from you, but if the church is The Father's business, then The Father/The Holt Spirit should be appointing the next in command. Its as simple as that! The reason their family members are taking over is because it is their own business and not The Father's business!

What oyedepo is saying is that there's nothing wrong handing over to your son if God is the one truly leading it.

Points to note from his submission: 1. There's nothing wrong with a family member stepping into church leadership if it is the will of the Holy Spirit (The Owner of the Church) 2. The Holy Spirit in His wisdom can decide to bypass a family member of the church founder when choosing a successor. 3. Succession plans should be enshrined in the church's constitution - certain standards must be met by whoever will be considered when seeking the direction of the Holy Ghost (He is not the author of confusion). 4. A truly yielded believer will not struggle to appear modest 1 Corin 10:23. 5. As a Christian, you are responsible for being a model to other believers around you, especially if you're a church leader or someone people look up to in church. I Love how you tell the truth undiluted word of truth. It is only God that calls. My Dad as the general overseer when he died though i was a young teenager, I remembered the church prayed, fasted and seeked the face of God , even gave prayer points to other churches to help us to pray and God appointed one of the pastors not even the senior pastor, not even my elder brother or my Mom and we did not argue that because it is God that calls and lead. Although many senior pastors was provoke they even asked my mom to ask her son to take over but my mom stood on her ground and debunked their ideas and said that the church is not her family inheritance and family business, that God did not call my elder brother to be the church leaders despite that my dad is the founder of the church. But today i will boldly tell you that God knows the reasons he chose that young pastor, the church is 25 years now since my Dad passed on the church is growing and doing well. In the church of God you don't nominate or elect or even select when it comes to the things of God, I wonder what is going on in christaindom nowadays. May God help His Children to understand the things of God and grant them wisdom to follow him in truth and in spirit.

I have watched Pastor Afolabi closely on some topical issues in some of his wife’s programs. I am convinced that this guy is genuinely born again. Although I don’t know the church he attends. I share his view on this subject but differ in the area of succeeding a father in the ministry because his father has laboured to build the church. Without sentiment, if God’s face is not sought and those saddled with the responsibility of appointing a successor appoints the son, daughter or wife to take over, that will be completely outside the will of God. As stated by Bishop, there should be policy and process to choosing a successor if as what happened in the case of Pastor Akindayomi and Pastor E A Adeboye is not happening. Otherwise growth and expansion does not mean success or raising soul to inherit the kingdom of God. There are so many churches today that are growing externally but deficient internally. The letter to the 7 churches speaks so loud and clear. My humble advice to the young man should be now that the mantle of leadership has rested on him, he should consider letting go of some things that may derail his focus on his calling. May God help him in Jesus name.

I think we are too bordered about some matters that we do not have full knowledge about because we were never part of the decision making of any Church neither are we there when God called the pastor to ministry and to start a church and what he was told by God about His successor. Bishop Oyedepo said He or the active General Overseer will Nominate three persons and the board will choose one based on the constitution and the leading of the Holy Sprit. Can i tell you that it is most possible that His son may be chosen? That means it is still possible for the son to take over from the father, the matter is that it should not be imposed. In the case of Jimmy it is still like what Bishop Oyedepo said. It is normal for every Pastor or founder of ministry to prepare their children in the ministry for the purpose of if the mantle of leadership of the church falls on any one of them. That was what Jimmy parents did from childhood. Holy Spirit can choose anyone and can use anyone. What Bishop Oyedepo was saying I believe was that you should not just plan to handover to your son as against the boards spiritual leading and in conjunction with the constitution of the ministry. It is never a sin and never wrong for a son or wife to be the successor of the father or husband in the ministry. This is a deep knwledge that Only who knows how God works and uses people can understand. Yes I understood that Jimmy may not look Holy but inside you and I do not know if He is holy and communicate well with the Holy Spirit. I know because of the new responsibility he will adjust a lot from His look. Do not forget that He did not come into ministry because of his parents. In an interview you have showed here he said he was called by God! I love that! Man looks to the face but God looks in to the heart and the intents of the heart - 1 Sam 16:6-7. I have never seen a church where the wife or the son took over that died. God is still working there including that of Mama Idahosa. I think we are discussing what we do not have good knowledge about because we were not there when the pastor was called to ministry and to start a ministry and whom God told him to prepare to take over from him as well as what the Trustees saw before they agreed to install Jimmy as the Senior Pastor. Joel Austin today did better in growing the church than his father. There is not standard rule for church leadership choice than to pray and allow Holy Spirit to choose and Holy spirit can choose anyone who may not even look it . There is no better way to know if they made right decision or not till in the future. Too early to conclude. It may be Holy Spirit at work, we should do the work of evangelism and let administrator manage His church. Nothing is new. We should rather be praying for him to succeed. Is it that God can not tell a man to hand over to his son? Yes He can! You Heard that the church leaders chose by the constitution. Not by what anyone said! And the three jointly voted and chose Jimmy. There must be what they saw in Him. The leadership quality and there must be what they must have told him about some areas he must work on. Pastor and Nollywood what an incongruous connection. How can a pastor's son choose Nollywood over the ministry and turn around to inherent the same ministry that wasn't his first choice?

If a man starts and founds his church then his children should take over there is no argument there. But if God calls a man into ministry then it belongs to Christ not him then he will not choose his own successor unless the Lord specifically shows him. Also being a deputy or a son does not mean you are next in line. Gehazi was there when God called Elisha. So it depends on who owns the ministry, is it the family or Christ. That determines how things go. I prefer Christs way not man's way. The Apostles chose Matthias but God called Paul

KJV Will Jimmy's dreadlocks, tattoos, ear rings wearing as a man allow him to be an example to to his Church members, to both the young, and the old? If he will defend everything from the old testament, he should also remember that we are presently in the New Testament sealed with the precthey of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

I think we glorify what's not necessary in Nigeria perhaps may be because we are too religious to understand that life is a choice otherwise I do not see the reason for this noise about Jimi Odukoya as senior pastor or GO. If someone is not comfortable with the choice especially the church members he or she is free to look for another 'appriopriate' church otherwise he should just accept the decision. For those who are not members I can't see where and how that should be of concern after all if the new GO likes let him put on Sango Apron, weave his head and begin to spit fire as sign of anointing who cares. I trust the Holy Spirit to do His work. God can use anything and anybody to do His work and praise His Holy name.
