Ok Patreon here I come. You are teasing us with a cookie on RU-vid and I want a piece of your homemade cake on Patreons. There are so many goodies that come with your tutorials on Patreons.
Hi David, You mentioned in another comment that you were going to have a look at my Patreon site... I am doing a whole series on the biased colour wheel over there, with the first video explaining the principle and the following episodes going round the wheel one colour at a time. 🎨
In the same way you select all the colours in your painting: observe your subject and choose the closest as a base colour. Painting your own colour charts from the colours in your palette is a very useful tool for this. As a general rule, I try to use as few pigments as possible in any painting. So if I am painting a red rose with Carmine as the main colour, I will use Carmine as the red to modify my green.
Opera Rose does fade... I visited the chemistry lab at the factory and had a long conversation with the head chemist and he showed me the tests. It is a tempting colour because it is so bright but it does fade. Resist temptation! :D
Yes, Winsor & Newton and all the other brands. The brand doesn't matter because it is the pigment that fades, not the paint itself. The manufacturer can do nothing to stop the pigment fading. If you dig deeper into W&N's literature, you can see that they describe it as "moderately durable". In other words, not permanent... I did my own test too, the results are shocking . The chemist at the factory joked that Opera Rose faded in the tray as he carried it to the testing oven and didn't even make it inside before it disappeared. :D It was very funny...
@@ilknurakbay I don't but it's a great suggestion :) I know you subscribe to my Patreon site, have a look at the Autumn palette PDF tutorial there, these are all good colours. I will work on a limited palette video and PDF soon :)
