@AtelierSandrineMaugy , hi. If Americans know the word conkers at all, it might just register as the peculiarly British game of conkers. Most Americans would call what you painted a horse chestnut, after the type of tree or, in a few states, "buckeyes." en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conkers
Thank you! This was very helpful-I will certainly try out this palette for my next autumn leaf painting. What surprised me was the Turquoise as it is not alltogether transparent ( but so are many ceruleans s too, a bit ” milky”) Inloke it ehen palettes have a surprise😃👩🎨👍!
Hello, nice to see you!! Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Genuine is semi-transparent, I can cope with semi-transparent :)). And I indeed use it as a replacement for Cerulean, a toxic coulor that is opaque. I do love the sort of cloudy quality to it. Very useful for some subjects. 💜💚
I just got Schmincke's masking fluid, and I think it is great. It can even be mixed with water to make it more precise. Easy to clean from brushes also.
Well I just found your channel and I'm very excited about it! You mentioned in this video that you would Give the names of some books the talk about the different shapes of leaves Etc but since this video is 4 years old, I can't find the video with that information. Could you give me the name of a couple of books thank you again❤
Hi Sandie, ooops I did make that video listing my favourite books, but it's on my Patreon channel, not here... My favourite reference book is The Cambridge Illustrated Glossary of Botanical Terms 📚
The paper in this sketchbook is watercolour paper, 300 gsm, and it worked well. Your choice of paper will depend on which technique you go for: more water requires heavier paper. For the first painting I would normally go for my usual 640 gsm, as I really drenched it.
I took your advice and bought a set of gouache HIMI brand. I actually like the way it goes on the paper and the brighter colour I can achieve. Thank you
Hi Sandrine. Fabulous pieces. Both are lovely but the second one is my favourite. Also meant to comment on an earlier video you did on Princeton Neptune brushes. I bought a few after watching. They arrived yesterday and they are excellent and may just be a new favourite.
I agree the one on the left done with the gouache used as gouache rather than watercolors is more pleasing. I have used them a bit and liking them quite a bit a bit.
Thank you for the video. Schmincke has in their Artist (Horadam) line the best single-pigment greens, Cobalt green dark PG26 and Chrom…green PG17. Love them.
Thanks for the info! Personally I no longer use the Schmincke Horadam range because it contains animal ingredients but a long time ago I used to like their Sap Green :)
Thanks very much Sandrine, I always thought that Gouache was opaque, but those pigments are lovely. It would be nice to see some of your seascapes and landscapes too. Take care, David.
I was surprised too... The gouache paints I had used before were much duller. These are opaque and bright at the same time... I expect they're much more pigment-loaded :)
Dear Sandrine, thank you so much for this lesson. I bought also one of your book. But my english is not so good and I am a litte sorry, that there is nothing in german languege .My husband ( he ist dolmecher english -germain) and we think about translating such nice book also in germain, cause I am sure, many artits have also interesting such a good book in germain languige..
I'm so happy I found your informative video. I'm wild for Quinacridones and the Lilac is the one I am missing. I won't be missing it for long. Thank you so much. I really enjoyed your video. It came to me at the perfect time in my art journey.
Hi David, it's a monthly session with a maximum of 8 people in the group. When you sign up you also get access to a lot of other videos and posts on Mastrius. You can join as long as there's a space left in the group and you can leave any time, there's no obligation to sign up for a specific period of time. I hope this helps, Best wishes, Sandrine
Thanks very much Sandrine for a really great tutorial, the info on the folded petal is a real eye opener and something that I've been doing wrong for age's. Take care, David
Thanks very much, I've just found your channel and subscribed. You have sorted outs a problem that I've had for ages, drawing in the way as the first demo', a real eye opener.
I just wanted to thank you for tempting me across to Daniel Smith paints, and to the Perylene pigments. Sometimes I just mix Perylene Maroon and Nickel Azo Yellow on the paper and just sit back and grin. Random comment - I know. But thank you and 'appy painting. 🎨
Hello, here is a direct link to my mentoring group: www.mastrius.com/sandrine-maugy-mentorship/ Please let me know if it doesn't work and we'll try another way :)
Bonjour Sandrine vos vidéos sont superbes et vos aquarelles tres lumineux ❤ Quelle papier vous utilisez pour cela Cellulose ou cotton ou moitié moitié Merci pour votre réponse
I’ve read your blog post about quinacridone gold PO49. It looked like you had quite a stash. I finally purchased some handmade full pans of PO49. It satisfied my curiosity for this pigment that was discontinued years before I restarted painting again. 😊
@@AtelierSandrineMaugy Guerra Paint & Pigment based in NYC sell dispersions (liquid form) of quinacridone gold. I thought of buying a bottle and making it myself but then decided not to. I purchased my pans from handmade paint maker Prodigal Son (based in the USA) who sells on E*T*S*Y. My pans are still tacky and a little soft. My guess is (though I could be wrong) he bought the Guerra dispersion to make his handmade PO49. There are two European handmade paint makers that I know that sell PO49: Dirty Blue (he also has a YT channel) and Della Magna. ❤️
Hello Sandrine. I bought your ‘Botanical Watercolours’ book. I used your instructions to paint the daffodil on page 36. It turned out well, thank you! For two years I have been trying to paint pansies. I picked up your book today and realised you have instructions on painting a pansy on page 146. 😅
I'm glad you enjoyed the daffodil :) I sometimes demonstrate pansies when I visit art groups because they can be quite good for beginners, as long as we choose the right ones. 🌸 Have you seen the pansy video tutorial I did for Fabriano? It's on their YT channel and it's a full tutorial xx
