Did a great job on it getting it running yeah it always seems like when you're wanting to make a surprise that us something that's when sometimes things backfire but yeah you probably just flooded it out but you have good taste the Square bodies are on fire right now I've been restored at 82 Chevy myself that right there looks pretty straight it'll make a nice old truck there's numerous Parts out there for the the numerous sites that you can get aftermarket parts for them all that door needs is a patch panel on it to be welded on but yeah it always makes me happy Lucia square body running again in fact anything old and classic can be given new life again Deshawn just as good as a new vehicle with a little TLC appreciate the video hoping you and your family are in great health
It’s been commented that fluids be checked with both axles and transfer case and a vacuum line to a vacuum modulator , if this transmission has one . Those are good items to check . The fact that transmission fluid level isn’t consistent could possibly be that a seal between the transmission and transfer case is,worn allowing transmission fluid to run out of the transmission to the transfer case . So , the transmission will be low and the transfer case be over full . Hate to wish that on you but if that’s the case , the transfer case will have to be dropped and the transmission rear seal be replaced on the transmission adapter to transfer case .
Sounds like the old carb could be pressed in to service again. Loved watch your Dad assessing the repairs and recalling details of the "Farm Truck" like he parked it there yesterday. Your a good son Wes. It did look quite appropriate broke down by the side of the road though. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
If this transmission has a vacuum modulator , that should absolutely be looked at . If the modulator loses vacuum or just goes bad , there won’t be any shifting , as you’ve stated . Don’t remember what year truck this is or if it’s even got an electronic computer controlled or module overdrive transmission or not but good to look if it’s got a vacuum modulator .
@@gmoney9588 i said same thing and just drop pan replace fluid and get screen type filter not that paper junk and replace modulator and make sure vacuum line is hooked up........assuming its a th400 since its 8 lug probably
With the costs and reliability of new trucks not worth the money or prohibitive . I foresee a new industry of mechanics buying 80s and 90s pickups and refurbing them . I cannot justify the cost of a new F-350 approaching 6 figures. Ford, GM and Dodge have lost loyal customers, just use the KISS method for trucks, we don't need Formula One technology on the farm, work site.
