I've been wanting to make the conversion to QS8 to delete the circuit breaker for a while now. My breaker kept popping on me and it was unpredictable, but I was scared to do the soldering on the battery. After watching a bunch of soldering videos, I decided to take the leap. It wasn't as bad as I thought. There are things you can do to decrease the dangers. So this video is after I finished the soldering and finalize the conversion to QS8.

What a great idea! Plus when it bursts into flames, you can grill your hotdog...

That's a QS8S, anti spark plug. On top of that a smart bms turns the charge and discharge off when connecting the connector. You need to do some digging son.

Ok I bought a ko motor with rush controller. I also have a 72v 52ah custom dual discharge battery. Tried to install it today. We thought that we had to remove the circuit breaker. So after removing and installing everything the bike won’t turn on, light don’t work display nothing. I also could not find my rush controller with Bluetooth on the ko app. Any thoughts what the issue could be?

It’s not because of the circuit breaker delete. Did you attach the ignition cable when you made your positive and negative wires? Make sure all your connections are good and that its in the correct place.

Great video. How were you popping your breaker all the time? is it from too much throttle? And now that you don't have the circut breaker, what is there as a safety net, like the old breaker used to do? For example, isn't it better to have the breaker pop versus something else, like your controller or battery? Just trying to learn more. Thank you!

I still don’t know why it used to pop so much. It was at all different speeds. It was scary while riding in traffic. From what I’ve heard, that breaker is used for connecting/disconnecting the battery to prevent sparking. QS8 is anti spark, so no need for the “breaker”

What’s up Man. I’m doing an upgrade for a custom build I have. Not a Surron, a Honda crf450r. I just got a BAC8000. Used to have a Votol em260. I’m being told a circuit breaker and a pre charge resistor is required. What are your thoughts and how’s it been without the breaker. I’ll be using QS8s but the seller said that doesn’t matter. Appreciate the any info.💯🍻

I too was initially worried about this. After over a year of the removal of the CB and going QS8, it's been perfect. No more cut outs on any of my 4 Surrons. I became friends w/ a well known battery maker (Ron Carroll from NAB batteries) and he told me that a QS8 is all I needed. No need for a pre charge resistor.

If you didn't want to delete the circuit breaker, could you just cut the top off the old connector from the bike and replace it with a QS8 and have no problems?
@DanhRichardson
@DanhRichardson Год назад
Yeah shouldn’t be a problem, but what would the purpose of that be? If you keep the same 8awg and breaker, than you delete the purpose of the qs8.

Remove brake and kickstand sensor if you haven’t already done so. Next you can borrow a working throttle and see if it fixes your problem.

I understand your fear as I had the same fear. I haven’t had a single issue. There’s no overheating. I now don’t have any fear of my breaker popping out of no where, which is scary when I’m traffic.

So I had my bac8000 connected to stock battery until I got my chi 72v battery with qs10. Installed with harness they gave tonight and connected but the lights come on but nothing moved when I hit the throttle. Any idea what it could be? Bike was working perfect. I connected the positive and negative then ran the qs10 harness to qs10 battery and just lights. Anything I could be missing?? Thanks

Did you change the settings for the bac8000 to 72v?
@LosAngelesMade
@LosAngelesMade 10 месяцев назад
@@DanhRichardson yes actually we went into Backdoor changed from 60v to 72v it started working that day. Today I tried to ride but it would turn on for 20seconds then turn off with code flickering E10 R39 on EggRider display. It’s so weird it was working just fine yesterday after we input the 72v in Backdoor. Both the battery and bac8000 are new and I’ve rode it twice in 3 months, bike is driving me crazy at this point.

So does the qs8 take the place of the breaker?
@DanhRichardson
@DanhRichardson Год назад
I’ve been told the circuit breaker is only used for disconnecting/connecting the battery to prevent sparking. It’s really not used as a circuit breaker. The QS8 is an anti-spark connector so you don’t need the circuit breaker.

@@DanhRichardson This not true if you turn the bike off shut the breaker off than turn the bike on still some voltage with the breaker off, the breaker protects the controller and battery

I work with high voltage breakers for a living. Breakers are for overcurrent protection not for arresting sparks. No OC protection and you risk fire when the circuit faults. If I were you I'd at least upsize the breaker not remove it.
