A mild solution is very useful for washing fruit and vegetables. PotPermang and glycerol (glycerine) is also an almost foolproof way of initiating a thermite reaction.
Its a strong fungicide too. It can be used to kill athletes foot and was once commonly used to treat yeast infections. Still used for treating fish tank fungal infestations.
@@derekfaeberwick Glycerin is a heavy liquid compared to dry sugar. You can carry glycerin if you so wish at extra weight. KMnO4 and sugar are low weight. Stating that guys who carry KMnO4 carry glycerin is a choice of the individual not a must or norm. I carry sugar for other reasons as well. What are the other uses for glycerin in the bushveld?
I tried to buy powdered PP from an aquatics store today. They didn't have powdered, only a solution. I did get some on Amazon, and tried it with glycerine. It was very impressive.

seriously? what is your reasoning? I have worked as a survival guide for quite some time and have always loved this. Any tool that is not only light weight, but serves multi purpose is the best you can ask for. I mean fire and water are two of the three biggest things you need in a survival situation. And if its a shit hits the fan type situation, having the abbility to detour fellow humans is a pretty nice plus.
lol no but my dad was a dentist, I remember those little red pills that tasted good, you had to chew them up and they stained the areas where you had not brushed.
Does it freeze? Does temperature affect the reaction? Don't care if it takes longer but would it work, say if you were elevated and the temperature was below freezing or zero?

@@Iridium242 thats good to know! I just watched a blackscoutsurvival video reviewing a usmc survival kit. They omitted the water purifiaction tablets because it does have an ex date. They should substitute those with permanagate! Doesnt expire pluse multiple uses! Should i write the secretary of defense and drop a suggestion? Lol
Dangerous to drink actually. It accumulates in your body. Is much better to keep for antiseptic and use something else for water purification, unless you have a carbon filter to remove it before drinking.
Glad I already know about this shit. Almost wasn't able to view this at all!! This internet stuff is getting way too expensive just to keep it up and running. Not the fault of those posting videos though.....
