Do you ever wonder what it takes to survive in a van? Winter? Cold? Snow? Rain? In this in-depth van tour of my 1991 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia that I am living in. Jaden Awesome job behind the camera, and for coming up with the idea for the video! Looks like a chip off the old block! Hopefully you'll be grinding some gears and spitting up some gravel like the old man!! My Westy got passed down to both my boys at different times and ended up back with me full circle. A- Where do you go to the bathroom to 1 and 2? B- Where do you store goods, like propane and food? C- You removed the fridge, so what do you do with stuff that goes there? D- What about fermentation and canned stuff, you could really use that a lot

That’s it! I’m completely sold on the Volkswagen Westfalia Vanagon! It literally has everything you would need to live comfortably while living a transient lifestyle! The thing that surprises me the most is how nothing seems cluttered or out of place in the cab. Volkswagen did an excellent job in keeping plenty of sufficient room inside the van and the pop top camper adds an extra level of comfort and functionality. I also really like how simple it is to turn the backseat couch into a complete bed with such ease. Adding a light bar for extra light for off-road visibility and a retractable awning for camping are both great touches as well! The other thing that I really like about these Vanagon’s is that they are pretty compact in size without sacrificing functionality and comfort. The one thing you didn’t explain during the tour was what you use for cold food storage since you removed the onboard refrigerator? I’ve seen several of your videos and I know that you love to eat and cook so I’m just curious as to what you use to keep your food cold without a fridge? Overall this has been a really awesome video and I’m super impressed with your vehicle and that you’ve given me the extra inspiration on making the jump to van life! Now I just have to find a 90’s era Volkswagen Westfalia Vanagon for myself! Keep the adventures rolling and I’m looking forward to seeing your next video! Cheers!

I'm 59 and have owned 6 Westfalias over the years. My favorite was Alice a 1973. She took me everywhere, back in the day. Never let me down. I know the feeling you have living in the confines of a VW. It's like being held by a nurturing mother. More power to you. Take care.

Hey bro. Live south of you just outside of Marysville WA. Love the vids man. Just a FYI. A lot of back country wheeler guys don’t like mounting the high lift jack on the front bumper. If you go nose first into a ditch, you won’t be able to access it without a lot of digging. Just a tip.

Cool video Jaden, thank you. Cool van Chad cool to see all the little details grown over time it looks like all makes sense together, not too much stuff but enough. A bit jealous about the things allowed in the US, for example I dont think they would allow having a Subaru enginge in a VW here in Germany - at least it would be a hard fight to get the mandatory vehicle inspection sticker. Things are WAAAAAY lax in most states here. Each state has its own emission laws. California is the hardest state. Other than that, it’s mostly anything goes. Especially in older vehicles.

wow, what an amazing job you have done in your van, something like that would be a dream of mine, i find the best campers are the ones that seem bigger on the inside, yours does that, the space is superb and for a small camper to carry and sleep four people is awesome!!! even the bed looks proper comfy!!! its a very well thought out and brilliantly designed camper, alot better than most ive seen, just wish i could experience the same thing going out into the wilderness during snow storms and having cosy nights in the van!! quality work! new subscriber from the uk here!
