@@helenogbonna3361 Yes. A lot of daycares hire at 16/17 for assistant to the lead / floaters! As long as you have experience w/ children or a HS diploma or its equivalent you'll most likely get the job.
Watching this was extremely reassuring, some of my coworkers act like this life is easy.. it’s probably one of the most rewarding jobs but it’s still VERY draining!! Thank you for this video ❤️
It’s oddly comforting to know I’m not the only one who thinks working in a daycare is so exhausting, it’s very very tiring for sure. I open at the daycare I work at and get out at like 1-2 and there are days where I’ll take a nap for like 3-4 hours afterwards and my mom always gets mad when I do that 😂 but it’s SO TIRING FOR REAL
Girl you are doing the most!! I have done the exact same for 16 years at my center. I’ve been in childcare for over 25 years now. Please do yourself a ginormous favor and get out while you are young! A childcare businesses will take full advantage of your heart, mind, and health! Don’t fall into the trap. They will take every last beautiful sparkling speck of magic that you have ever possessed into their greedy paws and blow it straight down the drain. That sunshine that is in you right now that makes you glow like warm honey in the summer....they will steal it without you even noticing. If you take my advice now it will save your life! Kids get worse each year bc of the severe lack of parenting. A business is just that a business. Look at all you do each day! By 730am you’ve ran LAPS around most. Please realize that as of right now, fast food service is paying more than a place that is supposed to love, care for, and shape the hearts and minds of our children. That IS SCARY! Much love and luck to you!!
Oh my goodness,I work in a montessori school too and just recently left. I couldn't stand all the brain games you have to play because you have to talk talk talk while children just say NO and laugh smh and these are toddlers!!
I just started working in childcare as in assistant teacher & I love it so far . & weird I feel like you just explain my whole day. It’s a new experience but I’m hoping it bring me to other opportunities
I been working in the Childcare since 2017 (my chosen career thought it is not for everyone), I just left a ChildCare where I was working for 2 years because some of the staffs didn't like me and I one of this staff that didn't like me have a top position and another just plain didn't like me and started saying lies of me. I working in another childcare now and I been there for like 2 weeks actually one week because I got sick this week with a bad cold and I haven't been able to go back
@@tangoingthekitchen you probably caught the flu from children, put a mask on especially in this season there are 200 strains of viruses you can be picking up one each week sadly 😔
Sums up my current situation so much! I only just realised listening to you why I am so tired at the end of the day and never notice until I get home. We are just “on” while we are there 💯
I work at a child care center as well I totally understand the exhaustion thing literally no understands how exhausting it is to work at a childcare center my friends think it’s sunshine and rainbow they give me so much crap for sleep and staying in on Friday nights
Really enjoyed this video. I’m a room leader for a baby room in the UK. interesting to here other pre-school routines. I totally understand your lack of energy after a long shift. Xx
I am so glad I decided to pursue a new career during COVID. The center I was working at, which temporarily shut down last March, emailed all the teachers to see who was planning to return when they reopened in June. I politely declined.
Used to be a daycare teacher. I can’t stand the lack of acknowledgement of kiddos who have developmental delays, the developmentally inappropriate curriculum and the suboptimal management from the places I worked in.
Yes. I just left after a month( taught for 30 yrs). The school age blend is toxic. I had 4-5 five yr olds and two autistic kids and a few quiet girls. The autistic boys were like 3 kids on their own and the 5 yr olds could do anything as my attention was not always on them. The quiet girls were targets and could never enjoy 10 mins of peace. Felt like abuse from the minute I punched in. Left, happy, whole, healing. ❤️🩹
Thank you for sharing how you feel, You are just a normal human being with a stressful job but rewarding at the same time. You’re Real and I appreciate you for it. 👍🏼😊❤️
I work in the 2 year old room too and ratio is 8 to 1 but that's a horrible ratio. Once they hit that age they just test everything. And my bosses don't understand that
Gosh this is emotionally triggering for me, I spent years in this industry as it’s all I knew. It contributed to an eventual mental breakdown. Listening to the lunch and sleep transition made me feel nauseous 😞
He kept swearing and swearing it was actually funny 😂😂😂 girl you’re better than me id probably bust out laughing im boutta start working at a daycare too
This just popped in my recommended all a sudden but damn I know daycare is a hard job but it’s much more labouring than I imagined. Especially during Covid.
Thank you for this video. I just got a job as an infant teacher at a daycare and a birth registrar with a hospital. I wanted to do some research on how the daycare job would be like. THIS really helped!
I took care of 4 and 5 years old kids before. I did an English session, indoor and outdoor games. But I dont know why I felt kinda burned out in just a few hours, perhaps using too much energy. I always look forward to seeing them again the next day.
I have bee doing pre k in day care for about 40 years !!!!!!!!! It is hard work and no one gives ********* ! And it is worse than ever!nParents don't care about their own flesh and blood . Behaviors and kid issues are off the charts and whenever we try to help we get a look like what do you know!!!!! I have raised 2 kids myself and worked when they were small. I love what I do but maybe it is time retire next school year .Peace to all my daycare teacher's freinds. Love have a good long weekend ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I just quit daycare, came to it after 30 yrs of teaching. Huge mistake- I ran into a “management” nightmare…no one showed me anything until I’d fuck up, then presto, “we have a system for that…”. Near dangerous at times. One month. 💀 was enuff.
are you still working here? i’m almost 19 about to be switched to being a teachers assistant & i feel u! i get so exhausted after work. but the kids keep me going!
It's interesting that the look on your face and the faces of my new coworkers at the daycare I just started at is the same. You all look tired, drained and like you hate your job. I'm sure I looked like that too at the end of my first day today! It's hard to smile when you're exhausted. I don't know how long I'll last doing this tbh. I was pretty optimistic before starting but now that I've had an idea of what it's like to work at a daycare, I'm really doubting whether I can handle it. I'll give it a good trial though.
How did you go, did you end up sticking to it? I’m thinking of doing a cert III in Early Childhood Education but as someone who is easily overwhelmed I’m not sure it’s such a good idea 😓
@gardeniaswildatyourfeet I only lasted a couple of weeks. It was so hard, but that's because the daycare I was at was understaffed, and there were just too many kids. I was sometimes put in charge of over 10 school-age kids by myself! I don't know how teachers do it. You don't have to work in a daycare if you get certified. You can work at an elementary school and have aides assigned to you to help, especially if you work at a spec needs preschool. You'll have paras to help you. Spec needs kids are more adorable imo 😊 Also, my friend has the same degree as the one you're thinking of getting, and she works in a preschool where the moms come and stay with their kids the whole time. So yeah, there's options if you're easily overwhelmed. I get easily overwhelmed, too. Have you worked as an aide in a preschool before? If not, try it out. It'll give you a good idea of what to expect.
i work at a daycare with toddlers they are a HANDFUL it is draining. Washing the hands omg 8 little people's hands sometimes i get a charlie horse because of it.
I’m married and I work from 8 to 6:30 sometimes in my class I have 16 to 15 kids alone myself in 24 kids from 1 to 3 I feel so stressed and damage emotionally and with low pay I can’t I don’t even have time for my husband and my boss she is only in her office
Move to Australia our ratios are 1 educator to 4 kids for under 2yrs, 1 to 5 for two to three years and 1 to 10 for over 3 years. If the staff isn’t there children have to be sent home or the centre closes for the day. As educators are so hard to find our wages have increased drastically, I have my diploma which took me 12 months to do part time and I get $40 an hour permanent part time rate. I find it hard with the increase in children on the autism spectrum and parents in denial. Years ago you might have one challenging child in a room now there are many! 😊
Hi i am aeducator in my preschool it cool, I get up at 5:45 am it fine I've been doing this in my hone for 26 years and I really enjoy it . Have a mice one
Great vid!! Would you say it's common to get bruises and scuffs on your legs working with so many toddlers? Thinking about applying for a preschool and want to know what to expect!!
