Mike was always an avid runner. Last year, he collapsed while running on his treadmill. His wife found him and had him rushed to Virtua in South Jersey, where he was diagnosed with a very severe type of stroke. Because his case was so complex, he was airlifted to Penn Medicine, where he was treated by a Penn stroke specialists.
Mike recovered and was almost fully back to normal just six days later. Mike credits the joint efforts of Virtua and Penn for saving his brain and his life.

Surviving a stroke when your younger is easier to recover. Someone in their 80's who hasn't move much in years is likely to go into a nursing. It is cruel to bring a person back to just exist in a diaper with nothing to do but stare and suffer.

I am 20, I was 19 when I had 2 strokes a week apart. I was standing there both times and I had numbness in my legs, wanted to scream but my face was numb, I collapsed into my friends drenched in sweat unable to talk but needing to scream for help. I couldn’t stand up or move my face or arms, they dragged me into the house and that’s all I remember besides them trying to ask me what happened and for hours I would just cry freaking out terrified of what happened. I was trying to enlist in the Air Force so I didn’t want to see a dr. Now a year later I realize how badly it could affect me by now over a year without any medical attention for it whatsoever I’m so scared to see a dr

I've known two people who had strokes that are close to me. My mom lost the majority of the use of her left leg, memory, and behavioral issues. My brother seems perfectly ok on the "surface" of things but has major issues with his short term memory along with some other subtle things. Just because he seems ok here, it's likely he has some sort of injury from the stroke that just isn't showing.

what did the hospital did to make him walk and run right away without theraphy. most of us who had stroke suffer some kind of weekness or paralysis that needs theraphy. i am just amazed.. Maybe its not a severe stroke or maybe my doctor and other doctors are doing it wrong when faced with a stroke patient. Please give more details on the stroke and the procedure done to him.So that we can understand how they did it right. and give hope to the future stroke patients to have the same success he had.

Its been 13 days now and he's able to walk with a walker and speak some words but still can't swallow, I hope your dad is okay too as this whole thing sucks so bad. I hope my dad doesn't have a 3rd stroke, I'll keep your old man in my thoughts.. Everyday is Christmas when I have we have our dads. I'll stay strong if you stay strong..

I ha a major stroke 4 years ago and with the prompt treatment I received at Sir John Radcliffe hospital( a thrombectomy) where they drew out the blood clot from my brain, I have made a fantastic recovery. I had 6 weeks support at home and I walked after 2-3 days in hospital with a stick. My left arm and hand took a while to start working properly and now I can dressmake again and do my ballet classes. This treatment is not available at many hospitals unfortunately. All the images of the brain show the extent of a major stroke. I couldn’t believe it either but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.

you outcome doesn't dictate if is mild or worst stroke, so as his. Better treatment and rapid treatment of severe stroke leads to better outcome. You literally judging other stroke base on your personal experience alone. this ain't a competition on who is more of victims.

@@joaoomega6627 i know every case is different. but if you say severe stroke, expectation dictates that you will atleast undergo a theraphy. but this guy was able to run right after the surgery.. I am just Amazed really. I just want details on his stroke and the procedure done to him so that all other stroke patients dont have to under go months and even years of theraphy. i myself wanted to run just like him

I dont think it's severe. My very kind father have a stroke 4yrs ago. And 'til now he hasnt recover. He has a problem talking, cant feel and move the right side of his body. But still very kind. He is my angel and inspiration that I kept working and as a bread winner of our family. He sometimes pity me for I am working hard through all this years despite my young age. But that doesnt shake me. I don't know why i dont feel bad for myself. I just love them that I don't mind myself. I wish for every stroke patient in this world to be cured right away. I cant stand seeing them struggling.

Mike had a stroke?
@deeb.9250
@deeb.9250 Год назад
All the comments saying this is not a severe stroke because he looks fine speaking and moving... that's incorrect. He had a huge clot that was bad enough to cause immediate symptoms, but his brain was saved from extensive damage because of immediate and drastic medical care. He had surgery to take the clot out within a few hours of the clot forming, that's how his brain survived

Mike is sweet but I don't think he should be classified as a severe stroke. My brother is 39, had a hemorrhagic stroke in March: coma for 10 days, trach, feeding tube, icu for 2 months, left side does not move-cannot walk now and speaks very slowly and sounds like he had a stroke. That is a severe stroke. I would hate for people who really have had severe strokes, to think that this is how they should be....I am glad he is okay but not a severe stroke
