Just came home from sauna. But as it’s public sauna so it’s not as „hard core“. the automatic „Aufguss“ is just not the same as if a master does it. - jumping into the snow afterwards is awesome. I actually preferre it or ice water to the shower as it’s a fast cold rush.

The camera does not work due to temperature differences. Water condenses on a cold lens. It is best to let the temperature of the camera adjust to the surrounding environment. This is practically impossible in a hot sauna, unless you want to destroy your camera.

A few years ago I was at a lake in Себеж. There was a banya there! But it was in summer! There were several runs lasting about 4 to .5 minutes. After every trip to the banya we ate heartily and drank vodka! That was very unusual for me as a German...but I had a lot of fun 😋

Way back when, I went to massage school. On Friday afternoons, we got to use the sauna for free, so we did. We would put towels down on the seats and sit on the top row, after rigging a drip onto the thermostat. That way, it would get up over 200 F. Aftter awhile, your would need to go outside and turn on the cold shower. SO strange to feel the water flowing over you, but no sense of temperature. Once the water starts to feel cool, time to go back inside.

i would like to try a sauna someday. i dont know how you guys can go from hot to cold like its nothing. i would personally break, or rather my lungs would. as for the herb ritual it reminded me of what so shamans and spiritists do in parts of ...ahem....latin america. they do the same exact thing to drive away the bad vibes. i wonder if hole thing came from baba yaga's influence in rus culture. just guessing here. anyhow, love your videos agent nesty because of the humor and because to put it honestly you are HOT! will look forward to your next video

Such traditions of sauna or similar to sauna exist all over the world, Vikings, Finnish, Native Americans.
@IzzySpeaks
@IzzySpeaks 4 месяца назад
A lot of similarities to a Lakota/Dakota sweat lodge. Pre lodge many fast. Meal is afterwards in which we make a spirit plate which is served first before any else eats. To get yours like a Native lodge you would need singing, a drum, and absolute darkness. And rather than leave the sauna/lodge at will there is usually 4 "doors" for the 4 directions in which the next bucket of water is introduced for the next round. This is the time that some may use to step out and come back and is usually no more than a few minutes. Last lodge I did was so hot I was almost ready to peek my head out to the cold air under the lodge tarp. I like them crazy hot. This time is meant for reflection and prayer.

That seems crazy, but since everyone who does it survives and says it's great, there must be something to it. I've sat in hot saunas and steam rooms, but the closest I've gotten to this is sitting in an outdoor hot tub in falling snow, which is actually pretty nice (except for when you have to leave the building and get into it). I don't know why it would have therapeutic value. First you cook yourselves so you get slow vasodilation with consequent blood pressure drop, then you jump in the snow which causes instant vasoconstriction and increase in blood pressure. I wonder if any Russian have suffered a heart attack after hitting the snow? Usually that is not thought of as desirable, but you are the expert Nesty, so I'll defer to you. At least it's something the whole family can do together, which is a very good thing. Thanks for taking us all along with you!

Russian banya, done properly, has excellent detoxicating effect. Where it can remove even fat-toxins and dangerous proteine-toxins. Sad thing is that modern russians mostly do not know that they are not doing it properly, thus detoxicating effect is very weak and small. Worst thing you can do is to drink bear or another alcohol during procedure. There is detoxicating effect almost zero. Like common sweating. You get out of body only salts, but no fat-toxins or proteine-toxins. Interesting is, that finish sauna or turkey sauna does not have this detoxicating effect.
