I do think Dom played a slightly better overall game, it certainly was flashier. But Wendell is a very worthy winner, they played similar games but Wendell was a little more subtle. Him saving Laurel turned out to be a million dollar move!
Nathan Perree he didn’t really save Laurel, he knew Laurel was safe and gave her the idol for show. I was frustrated that no one pointed that out. He didn’t save her, she wasn’t being voted out.
Wendell definitely had a bad tribal but he still deserved the win. One of the reasons the game went so well for Dom & Wendell was because of Laurel. She always gave them the heads up. I think her loyalty was based on the relationship with Wendell.
I think Jeff revealed what the tie breaker was at the Game Changers finale not because of this tie (cuz obviously Ghost Island hadn't been filmed) but because they planned to use the Game Changers urn for the Ghost Island theme in this season and they had to prove that Brad made a bad decision in taking Sarah over Tai by showing he would have won through this tie breaker had he taken Tai.
I think Wendell played an excellent game. Every move he made was calculated right down to his choices to share rewards. I definitely believe he allowed Laurel to win in that challenge. No way he did not know to tell Jeff he was done. I think he got flustered in front of the jury and Dom was better. But he deserved the win.
Dom was a better strategic player, but Wendell was the better social player. And when are ppl gonna realise that the social aspect of Survivor is still the most important? Dom kinda lost me with his antics when he pulled the idol out. It felt like he was pandering too much to the jury and for what? Having an idol and using it on himself? Woah chill out Dom. And even though Wendell did the same (saving Laurel was mainly to earn jury points), there was authenticity behind it because he was repaying the faith for all the times Laurel stuck by him. Lmao look back at nearly every Survivor winner and they were all mostly better at the social side of the game than the strategic side of the game.
Wendell wasn't the better social player.. Everyone said that Dom interacted with everyone while Wendell went off and built stuff.. Wendell scrambling saying he talked about rap with Des wasnt fooling anyone..
I wept when I realized it was a tie, realized it as soon as Jeff said "I'll read the votes" and involuntary tears 😭 been watching since the beginning. I loved Dom and Wendell for the win so much and has these moments of "I just wish they both could win", in a way, they did. They couldn't have necessarily prepared for the tie breaker being Laurel, since it's never happened.
I dont think either one was exceptionally likeable to be honest. I think Dom played the much better game, made more power moves, etc. Even the jury was split down the middle with the smarter more savvy players voting for Dom and the dumber, more passive players voting for Wendell. Nonetheless, Wendell is a deserving player. I also thought that Laurel deserved some votes.
Wendell was my pick to win and I’m happy for him, BUT if we’re being real Dom was kinda robbed... him and Wendell were neck and neck for a while but then Dom pulled ahead and outplayed him IMO. Jury got it wrong but congrats 🎶🎶 Mr Wendell 🎶🎶
Honestly loved this season, not for the episodes, but the story that was told. From Chris v. Dom to dom and wendell dominating i just was amazed that they pulled it off getting to the end
I find it interesting that Sophie would compare Laurel to Albert. I thought about Albert as well, when Laurel would consider another player's ideas pretty much the same way Albert did. Also, Laurel's situation was similar to Sophie's. Sophie was able to eliminate Ozzy with a final immunity challenge win, and defeat Coach in the end. Laurel would have had to win the final immunity challenge, if she wanted to potentially eliminate either Wendell or Dom.
Why do they even bring the whole cast on the stage if they never ask them any questions?? Whether it’s the stupid tv show plugs, talking to random kids in the audience, SIA gifting charity money to her favorite gay player of the moment etc, it’s just a waste of time that they could’ve spent talking to the rest of the cast more in depth about the game. What a disappointment these reunions are now!!
Sophie might be a brat, but she is really smart. Pretty good insight on the game. And while I don't think Wendell's FTC performance was special or anything, he got the job done and got his point across that he played the strategic game well, and was still a good social player and didn't come across as brash or aggressive as Dom.
Weirdly poetic finale, because Dom and Wendell has always been "tied" and Laurel always had a chance to choose between them and finally takes her chance.
I was 100% Dom would win and this was such a pleasant surprise. In my opinion strategically Dom and Wendell were equal but Wendell had the bond with Laurel. He totally desrved it i just wished the edit was more balanced since Dom had like 20 more confessionals and way more screen time
I repeatedly feel bummed when I see Sophie on the podcast... and the more I listen the more I realise I actually really like her haha. really smart and I loved how politically incorrect (calling the players a bunch of idiots:)) she can be - Rob can be a bit of a worrywort sometimes.
For a middle to lower tier season it has a lot of potential returnees imo. Wendell, Dom, maybe Donathan, Kellyn, Michael, Chris, maybe Bradley, maybe even Jacob as well
Sophie makes a good point every 5 minutes and then just spews incoherent gibberish the rest of the time. I’m glad Gambino won, although, Dom deserved it as well.
This season had way too many idols/advantages. And can SURVIVOR go back to having 2 in the Finals... that tie was so bogus. I realize after 36 seasons, you have to switch it up - but sometimes less is more.
Fish - Do you lose drama with the advantages? We all know that their are advantages. And if you aren't finding one, it means someone has one. You gotta flush it out if you don't know where it is and if you do know who has it you gotta flush it out so they are vulnerable.
Think the votes were locked in before going into FTC. The jurors probably had a good idea already that they were going to tie the votes between Dom and Wendell. I have an inkling they found it tough to choose between Dom and Wendell, hence the decision to split the votes!!
1) Dom was robbed. 2) The fire making challenge was SOOO much better this season than last season. It just felt right. 3) I honestly don’t believe Laurel would’ve made it to the F3 if she voted out Dom and/or Wendell anywhere from the F9 to F7. I think she would’ve rather gotten 3rd place than 6th place or 5th place, so that’s why I think she didn’t flip on them.
I agree about Laurel's strategy. She probably placed her "1% chance" of winning at the final immunity challenge. Had she won, she could have had Dom and Wendell face off in the fire making challenge.
Jerome Lange I'm not quite sure what the "official" definition of a mark is. I do only watch WWE, but that's only because thats all I have time for and I can't get NJPW or ROH on TV. I watch podcasts from WrestleTalk and shit
In the end, I think it was a disappointing season. I'm happy with the winner, but it's almost like Dom and Wendell's game was so intertwined that neither of them could win, you know? I'll have trouble deciphering who did what when I remember this season. And Laurel, I didn't even feel bad for her at the end. She kept saying the same things over and over and never acted on them. Girl if you don't like it, do something about it!
I disagree even without the twist in place and it was a regular final two Wendell still would have won. It’s a social experiment at its core and Wendell built better and stronger connections with the players than dom did! You can’t make moves without the social currency to implement them and wendell has all of that
Maxim cote but this isn’t 95% of ‘seasons’ juries operate differently every year colpepper won final four immunity and lost so did Chrissy and then there’s Skupin and Jaclyn and then there’s kass.. the list goes on
Very dissapointed seeing Kellyn's bitterness towards dom, defntly uncalled for, doesn't really surprise me tho from her, she was awful, immature and extremly bad at reading situations wich showed when she said she tought wendall was the mastermind.. poor player.
Agreed 100% she was very grating to me and her gameplay was a disgrace she would of flipped a coin on all her decsions/read/moves/strategies she would of done wayyy better
Agreed, it pissed me off listening to Rob everyyyyyyy week talking about Kellyn's gameplay when her gameplay, and decisions sucked.. not surprised at all about her bitterness
Couldn't agree more. She was terrible. Just an immature and entitled brat. She had such a "I deserve this" attitude for reasons still unknown to me. She was an awful, awful person and that was highlighted with the bitter way she shut down any talks of Malolo joining her early in the season. Just terrible.
12from121 She was still the deciding vote though. She was the one who determined the winner. She's already getting enough hate. I think it's unnecessary. I just want to give her a big hug.
HaleyVic17 Exactly. So she played a game that was way too safe and conservative, oh well, that was her call to make (it was *her* game, not ours!) She seems like such a sweet girl with a huge heart. People need to stop with their bitter assholery against her.
Wow i am shocked to hear how unpleasant and negative this podcast was to listen to. Anyway I am very glad Wendell won. I feel confident he would have had my vote if I was out there too.
I think Wendell and Domenick are a great pair. But a great finale doesn't make up for a rather boring season. I mean this had no Brandon Hantz meltdown, grindgate, Zeke outing Varner or some other dark things that have plagued seasons so that's a plus. But this season just felt so dry once Chris left. Once he left a lot of the entertainment and momentum really just died out. Any Survivor is better than no Survivor but when seasons are boring it just does nothing for me either way imo. It oddly reminds me of One World, just with 2 Kim Spradlin duking it out which only rates a season so high.
fun season to watch with all the Survivor artifacts.. Jacob should have won... lmao... and Sophie is not a "Know it All". Love the show, but it was the hardest one to watch.
wendell wasn't nice he was just as mean as dom he just was quiet about it. he was very fake. in confessionals he shit on people and he would join in on dom's little outbursts. he was a follower in a sense. he felt like such a follower that he needed to give laurel an idol just to feel like he was finally doing something against dom.
I dont think no one was ever robbed. I stopped watching after Michael was voted thought this season was overall a Ghost! It does not exist! A season full of weak players! Top 6 where 4 of them where stupid goat players.
One of the biggest non shocker votes,Everyone knew she would vote wendell, she did, liked Wendell alot, but,Dom was the better player, another survivor bummer!!
