What happened with sikhs in 84 is an indelible blot on the image of India.Despite of being so less in numbers,the sikh brothers have done much more for this country than any other community of India. My Mom always shares some reminiscensces about that time.She told that many of her known 'Punjabi Chachas' had to shear their hair and renounce their most important 'pagdis' so that they can protect themselves and their shops and families from political goons.

i am from punjab and i was discussing these riots with my friend from delhi he said , riots happened because hindus were being killed in punjab but i told him in 10 years time only few hindus were killed by bhindrawale, i am not justifying any death but just stating facts only 200-300 hindus were killed at max during terrorism but in november 1984 alone some say, 17000 some say. 30000 sikhs were brutally murdered, even terrorists in punjab never hurt any woman or kid , but only men but in november 1984 , rioters spared no one ,women , kids, old people , nobody was spared this is height of cruelty shame on people who justify the riots this was the act of devil and cannot be justified may God give strength to every victim

Justice can be only dilivered if : 1)Truth Commission is set-up to investigate the matter under a special jurisdiction and first of all declare this tragedy a genocide. 2) Identify all the victim's family and take account to their testimony and arrest all suspected/accused be charged with murder/crime against humanity and put them on trail. 3) Guiltes should be hanged or imprisonment for lifetime depending upon degree of their involvement. 4) Why police failed to stop the tragic event should be investigated & police collabrating in this event should be punished. 5) Government should pay PENALTY to all the victims in accordance to the losses they suffered.( Lose of family member + difficult situation financially which they faced should all be added) . Since It is the duty of the State to protect it's people but here it's failure. 6) Police and Judiciary reforms should be implemented. It is the need of the hour for the country as Police failed to prevent riots/damage of public property ever since independence(last few days are it's proof & Judiciary reforms as it takes such years & years, tremendous time of one's life to get justice for even in simple cases by current system. Thousands of cases are piled up and stuck since years including this one(anti-sikh riots) *Justice delayed is Justice denied* Although it has been almost 30years now but still i hope goverment takes this steps and delivere justice. *Better late than Never*

My dad told me about this riot. My whole village of 10k people is 92% Muslim dominated with Hindus and Sikh brothers at that time ... MY DAD told me that when this happened, my grandfather,a pathaan, was a powerful person of my village, so he told all the Muslim families to keep all the Sikhs in their homes till situation gets ok, they changed their appearance by cutting hairs, removing pagdi and growing beard to look like Muslim.... My Grandfather saved each and every Sikh, whenever any hindu brother came , he confronted them, .... My dadu also told everyone to Take care of fields of Sikh brothers(at that time, my whole village were involved in agriculture) so that they don't get loss in their crops.....
