You probably love it because it is a natural continuation from the V. What this means is that it gives the song a feeling of "neverending", like a memory that you attach To throughout your life and is always there...many songs work this way (mostly songs from the 70's and 80's which always end with fade-out)

For those wondering, technically, sus-2 and sus-4 are essentially the same only inverted differently. Their construction is also uniquely simple: take a note, add a note a 5th up, add another note another 5th up. Now play with the inversions. They can also disguise modal shifts

Or as I create chords (from the root). Sus2 = 0+2+5 Minor = 0+3+4 Major = 0+4+3 Sus4 = 0+5+2 Power = 0+7

@@arandomsupra No. Power chords only need 2 notes, the root and a fifth above it, in other words, the base note and seven notes up. Power chords can never be neither major or minor, since you need a third note between the other 2 for that to happen.

Great lesson! IMHO it's very good idea that you consequently uses the same key of C in your examples of eg. chords, so it makes very easy to compare the structure of many different chords as far as intervals/notes are concerned.

Here is an interesting fact: sus4 on I is the same chord (or same structure) as sus2 on IV. Try playing it and changing just the bass (root) note (from I to IV)... ;)

Bruce Springsteen's "Brilliant Disguise" is a great example of the full utilization of the sus chords. The verse section is simply a modulation of "Major -> sus2 -> sus4 -> Major". In this instance A maj -> A sus2 -> A sus4 -> A maj

The program you use makes the IV chord sus#4 not 4 that's why it sounds tense since #4 is tritone. It would sound smooth if it had used sus 4 instead of #4.

Do you have to replace the third? Because on guitar, a regular C major chord has two E notes. Would you just make the first E down to a D and then just make the high E a G for a Csus2? Same idea with Csus4? Edit: I assume if you keep the third in the chord, then it's not suspended, and it's just a C2 or C4. Is this correct?

From what I know, if it was an Fsus2 for example, I add the 2nd note and not the 3rd note(giving F-G-C) Whereas in F2, I add both 2nd and 3rd(giving F-G-A-C). I may be wrong so do correct me

looping through all of the triad qualities between sus4 and sus2 in a loop sounds pretty cool Csus4-C-Cm-Csus2 it could also be interpreted as: Fsus2/C-C-Cm-Gsus4/C Also since when did Hookpad have a dark mode?
