Haha mate, a pebble in your boot is enough to drive you crazy for sure. It's funny how many times I have forgotten something and I remember it only after going back for another reason! Those sea trout are beautiful fish mate, regardless of size. I need to buy one of those little magic hip flasks, but I would have Johnny Walker in mine haha
@@Vincentdonnelly5158thanks, looking forward to the season now! Hopefully Waterville fishes well for ye this season.. looking forward to the videos tight lines🙂
Hi Vincent, Ha Ha. That little flask must be the TARDIS. Bigger on the inside judging by the size of the glassfull you got out of it. You must indeed be a Timelord. Watch now flashing those flies. We don't want you getting into bother. Ha Ha. Cheers, Steve.
Stevie D. HA HA HA LOL. Tardis is correct i hope it never ends. Time lord im not if i was i would go back 45 yeas then go down to the same river to fish it was brilliant back then or even 100 year i just cant imagine oh if i was only a time lord. ( Had to look up the meaning of time lord and tardis ha ha your a smart felo)
nice lad! have had a few good nights fishing the little weir there in the park, interesting the way you fished it lad, must give it a go next time im there, another cool vidjo laad !!
Brilliant video from the mad fisherman! Jameson whiskey will be in contact in due course to provide jameson branded y-fronts. Sponsorship and censorship at the same time!
Haha class video. I was missing you! Nice to see you doing the night time sea trouting. Looks great fun. I was down yesterday on the Tyne and the sea trout and salmon were running hard up the river. They didn't t give me a look in. Not even a pull! I might try the sea trout at night sometime, but with the water is peaty so I'll have to see how it goes! If I drank a 'wee dram' like you drank there, I wouldn't wake up for two days! It was enormous! I'm a big fan of Kamasan hooks by the way. Swear by them. One of the most important things, if not the most!! No point skimping on cheap hooks! Great video!
salmon ninja Hi salmon ninja i know what its like when fish are on the move and wont look anything it would drive you to drink. You never said a truer word always buy the best hook. Myself and my wife were both laughing at your last video great stuff.
Cheers Vincent. I remember me and my mate bought hundreds of dry fly 'geoffrey bucknall' hooks in the early 90's and we tied loads of flies on them. Our boxes looked stunning with rows and rows of beautifully tied flies. It wasn't until we struck into our first fish that it became apparent that they were useless. You could straighten them out with your nail! We threw them all away but every so often a 'geoffrey bucknall' fly turns up in my box! We tied so many I don't think I'll get rid of them all! You'll have to do some more night fishing videos. Really enjoy them. It looked a really nice summer's night you were fishing there. Do you just fish the maggots on your fly gear with a bare hook?
salmon ninja I don't know why but the trout wont take the fly and maggot on that river the bare hook is best. Floating the maggots as near the surface as possible. The best streatch on the river has been ruined they put street lights up on the road and the light shines into the river the fish see the line and wont take. You have to put on a ball of maggots and it has to drift under the fish so they dont see the line before they take. The worm angler dose best in that streatch. The worst bit is nobody walks that road any way.
Have you ever tried a syringe and putting a bit of air in the maggots? I've never tried anything like this on our river. Might give it a go. I'll have to check the dreaded rule book first!!! They were great little sea trout.
Vincent Donnelly Just discovered your channel & glad I have, it's a while since I've been over to the West, last time to play some punk rock in Cork, Skibbereen & a few other places. Cracking place.
Fishing7776 Hi put them in the fridge is best im not allowed do this my marriage would be over. That why i use the bottles of ice. You can put some into the freezer and use them when you want there just the same as using live maggots i dont see any difference. I have no other way of keeping them any longer than that if you have another way let me know. Thanks.
Fishing7776 The best place for me to catch a salmon is the kingsley hotel wier and i havnt gone once this year to fish it. When i lived in ballincollig on my way to work i would give it an hour and on my way home another hour and i was clocking up the salmon then i moved to the other side of the city and i never fish it i must give it a cast before the season ends hopefuly catch a big salmon ive only fished one night this year for the seatrout must get down there to. If i only had more time.
Bill Gordon Hi Bill. There was a club on it many years ago i used pay my fee each year to a very nice man called Bobby Seaward. Then one year i went to pay my fee and i was told by Bobby to keep my money the club had fallen apart. All the land around the river belongs to a felo i used go to school with i only know him as monkey. I called up to monkey a very angry monkey he told me a group of anglers approched him offered him money put signs up calling themselves the glanmire anglers then they didnt stick to thier deal with him. He said vincent fish anywhere you want. That year i was approched by anglers in the club on the river bank looking for the fee i told them what i was told by Bobby and they never approched me again thats about 7 years ago. Hope this information will help. Monkey lives if your by the aib bank dont drive over the bridge but take the road towards Rivers town and up the hill first house on left call into him he will gladly give you his permission to fish on his land and you will have more confidence while fishing.
Many thanks for the info Vincent I'm glad you told me that, it's much appreciated! I know Bobby I used to be in his syndicate on the Blackwater They had loads of water at one time but not so much now. I might give the Glashaboy a try some night this week.
