I was noodling in open G and found the main riff by accident but couldn't find the minor notes for the chorus till I searched you tube. Thank you kindly for posting a sweet alternative version of this classic tune.
Great lesson, It's one of my favorites in open G. I transition it into "walk a mile in my shoes"- G A C D, same groove, chord shapes, pull offs etc. Thanks!
Also i remember keiths autobio he said elvis guitarrist was one of his favorites and in his words one of the most underrated of all time. Forget his name.
Funny, I was about to comment on the key you started singing in, but you fixed it the second time around. Very nice lesson. Open tunings are the shits! Kieth Richards was a hack back in the day, though. I never want to play like Kieth.
I like the standard tuning version a little better. Just G to C to then C to F... then D to C to F and back again. You're right.. the bass licks set the melody. Keep up the great work.
This is great! Thank you. You sing it nicely too. Lovely style over all. I could work out the minor chords, it was quite fast. Could you say what the fingering was please?
Like others, I came across the verse riff by chance in Open G. So thanks for the rest. Out of interest, Keith Richards first encountered Open G whilst watching Don Everly on the Stones first British tour in 1963. Then later enhance with Cooder & Parson. Did not really use it until 1969 though.
Nice. .id encourage everyone to tune theyre guitars at 432 hz aka the healing frequency. It was the so called nazis in 1940 that made 440 hz the "standard" why? To lower the frequency of the populace and keep down in that place where eventually ya get cancers and buy their drugs. Also in 432 hz my guitar stays in tune like never before and I feel better when playing. Your great man and a great teacher. Love ya man.
