Our industrial park refuses to let us use our gray water for flushing water. It's ridiculous, we are using pure drinking grade water for flushing our poops. It's nuts.

It just shows that the only thing preventing these types of communities on a global scale is governments.

When I see something like this in one of the oil rich countries, I just want to cry. They "get it" and realize that we need to be moving to a sustainable energy system and doing what is right for the ecology. Not like the idiots in office here now who want to drill and burn their way through as much fossil fuel as they can. I'm trying to do my little part. My solar panels are now generating slightly more than I use and my Tesla Powerwall is in the pipeline to be installed in a month or so. When that happens, I will be 98% electricity self-sufficient. I'm not one of privileged rich so I have to stage things as my meager budget allows. In the long run it will be cheaper than continuing to use electricity from our local coal fired plant.

The domes use the technology called 'swamp coolers' to condition the air, but of course in the USA homes the water is not recycled gray. I like that they are trying... aim high and keep reaching.

Solar makes so much sense in the middle east, - it's free, it's everywhere, and the supply is not limited, or corporate controlled! Speechless. Amazing city. This is one where people dream to live peacefully instead city surrounded by CO2 only. Renewable energy is the only solution for better future.

This is not a sustainable city, this is an elite neighborhood. Cut of from work/shop areas, with from what I heard no possibility to get there without using a car. They have some cool things for sure, but it isn't a city and not really usable for the masses.

A very nice part of town. People will want to live there, when they see that their contacts live in such a nice place. Looks like the middle area is the playground area and park. Great space that ads to the quality of life.

Brilliant! What is so important is we seperate cars further from our living spaces. Encourage community working together. I wish my children could grow up in a place like this. the uk need to do something similair but i think the cars should be underground as we dont have as much space and more/bigger green areas. Then it just a case of making room for people to be creative and community run schools etc. Public transport links are vital too

They should rebuild homes and communities like that everywhere !! That is awesome. We'd probably save alot of money and contribute to the health of the environment, rather than destroying it slowly with coal, etc.

People can say what they want that they can do it just because they are rich But the thing is they at least do it In my area, villages are way cleaner than the next city. Even though they are poorer Why? Because clean energy is cheap on long term I personally do not accept these excuses by people who didn't even try or did their research What Dubai is doing here is amazing. They are investing in the future. Although it's expensive to set this up, they've probably saved more money on the long term than they spent

We just need to apply it to the next generation. Give them the mindset now and they will think more like this.

i almost cried to be honest. why can't America just change to renewable energy, it will help climate change,create more jobs,save money,infrastructure.

To be honest every building company should be looking at this and trying to now achieve this in this day and age, especially with the climate situation and people DESPERATELY trying to save money, it is a win in EVERY SINGLE SCENARIO.

This is absolutely impressive!!! I'm so glad that they showed most of the sustainable features, not just solar panels. Because solar panels are just only part of the equation.

I truly, truly hope that in my lifetime that this will be a norm for all cities! Beautiful and super efficient and, most importantly, completely run on renewable!

These are great ideas... but you need to adopt vertical growing for your food. It takes 1/4th as much land space and it's very economical. There is no need for soil or pesticides/herbicides if you combine the Kratke/hydroponic/vertical systems together. It also needs very little attention or maintenance from planting to harvest. All I do is add liquid fertilizer twice a year to my automatic watering system. I grow enough food in 2 huge greenhouses using this method to feed my family, friends, neighborhood and sell vegetables and microgreens to high end restaurants. Also the cost-to-production ratio is the best I've ever seen in ANY farming operation.

Very impressive indeed. Looks rather like a university campus, pretty futuristics and so clean, no litter as far as can tell! In an oil rich country too, it just goes to show there are people with the imagination and expertise (and the opportunity) to create something like this. I love the circular recycling of the water and waste too, excellent for self-supporting

This is the future I want my family and children to live in. I really hope the whole world adopts this kind of enthusiasm towards sustainability and the use of solar (or wind) technology, so we can really get on with saving the planet we live on.

What I like the most about this, is that the cars are in the shade, so they wont heat up so horribly, also the PV panels will (most likely) get better cooling.

Another good one Robert. I'm surprised at the number of negative comments on this video. I think people should keep in the back of their minds we've grown used to squandering incredibly energy dense fuels like oil, coal and gas, using them to power horribly inefficient systems. Any move away from reliance on these sources is bound to involve great effort and sacrifices. The UK has more than our fair share of above-ground car parks and I'm amazed these aren't covered in solar PV. We just don't seem to 'get it'. As for the comments about slave labour, any of us Americans or Europeans would do well to check their history books first since, ironically, the industrial revolution was pretty much built on it, not to mention explaining why that thing you bought online was surprisingly cheap.
