Man, what a good review. Very few, if any, jarring edits or splices. Right to the point. Talks fast so I get the maximum amount of information for a minimum amount of my precious time. And he covered a comparison of two interesting items. Subscribed!

Great comparison, as im currently saving up for the Raal. For me, the vocals on the LCD 4 are richer and fuller than the Susvara. I even had a chance to A/B the LCD 4 and HE1 and still found the vocals to be better on the LCD 4. I guess i just love the fullness and richness of the vocals on the LCD 4. I think the Raal will give me a completely different experience compared to my LCD 4 & HEKSE and i believe its good to have headphones that compliment each other rather than them all having the same type of sound signiture.

Lack of bass on the Raal, I thought so too. That’s until I bought the new Raal tube amp the VM-1a it is awesome. It still has the treble hotness but I have solved that with the accurate sound convolution filters. All in all it is awesome, tight and accurate bass, lush and musical tube mid range. Oh and the amp has three modes, triode, ultra linear and pentode which have there signatures too.

Due to the great reviews from you, the Susvara sounds very interesting. Bassy headphones? The Meze Empyrean fits perfectly into this category and the Empyrean is on my wish list. I especially like that you test metal with your headphones. 🤘🏻

The Empyrean is certainly very bassy. Nice, thick midrange as well. However, I won’t be able to cover it in my next review since I don’t have it with me at present. But yeah, do give the Susvara a listen! Its lovely ❤️

@@amplifyaudioreviews I've heard the Susvara at shows a few times and found it extremely good. I've also heard the Hifiman Shangri-La and the Sennheiser HE-1 very impressive. I was able to test the Empyrean and yes I had a good time with him, maybe there will be a Black Friday deal for the Empyrean this year. 😎

@@amplifyaudioreviews The T + A Solitaire P should also be on the same level as the Susvara and would be significantly cheaper than the Susvara here in Germany / Austria. Maybe some day you have the opportunity to compare the T + A, would be curious to hear your opinion.

I don't know if you can remember me. I left a message in another video. After trying several integrated amplifiers, I finally chose l509x. I'm very satisfied. I feel that l509x sounds better than e380. If you plan to replace 380, I strongly suggest you try l509x (the amplifiers I've tried include pass int30a, e380, ma352, mark585, l509x)

Good review. If you get a chance, try with a good amp like the SPL S800. Performance is much much better than the Schitt.

Thanks, man. I actually don’t drive the Raal with the Schiit Jot. I have an amp that to my mind outperforms the SPL S800 (altho the SPL S800 isnt bad). I have the Accuphase e380 speaker amp which drives the Raal. This amp is very well-loved and regarded in the two channel world and I have found it to outperform my Pass Labs amp setup! I also have a Primaluna evo 400 and 200, on which the Raal sounds more musical! 🙂 I have also tried the Raal and the Susvara on a variety of top-of-the-line speaker amps - should have mentioned that in my review!

I hesitate between the SR1a, Susvara, SR-X9000 and Shangri-La Jr as my potential "endgame" HP. Do you think the Shangri-La Jr might be a good contender? (resolution, soundstage and natural timbre are my main criteria and of course, I will have to hear them before buying, not just hearing the sound demos available on the internet...) :)

Waiting for Hifiman to lend me the JR, lol. Have to say that as much as I admired the SR1a, I didn't enjoy it as much as my other TOTL HPs.

BTW, I know sound demos offer very limited possibilities but the demos of this guy about the Susvara, SR-X9000, Shangri La Jr and SR1a seem quite revealing of their sound signatures: ru-vid.comvideos. To my ears, the SR-X9000 seems to most convincing sounding (feeling to "be there"). I'm very interested to investigate more about this new flagship from Stax... The Susvara seem to be a little bit softer, with pleasant natural timbre and precision. As well as the Shangri La Jr which seem a little more dry to my ears. And the SR1a seems very resolving but a little "hard" on the ears, with less bass. Of course it's just impression and the demos do not tell everething so I guess I will have to hear all of them for real before making a choice!

@@christianblais3350 Your other impressions match mine, man. I sold my SR1a precisely for this reason. It was dry, cold, analytical and lacked bass. So I admired it but didn't love it. The Susvara is fantastic but it is indeed a tad soft. The JR I haven't had a long enough time with. Really curious about the X9K.

Bass slam is easy to solve for a future Raal SR1b (bass).

Thanks for the organized comparison! I have the TC and had the SR1a, but sold the latter for financial reasons and also the TC bass. Would’ve kept it for its soundstage and resolution thou. I’m tempted by the Susvara too, but we’ll see in the future, lol. Btw, what’s the stand you using for the TC? Also, what would be some good closed back HP upgrades from the 6XX (maybe under 1.5k and at or under $500) to get identical vocals?

Wow tough question closed back with same vocals as 6xx. I could recommend a Neumann ndh20 with eq. Hard to find closed backs with 6xx mids.

Hi Sajid, what is your opinion of the raal's speed compared to properly driven electrostats like sr009s+bhse or kgghsv carbon? Great summitfi comparison btw. Now for the sr009s and... he1, lol.

Hi Elba. I haven’t A/B-ed the SR1a with the 009s, but according to owners and also going by memory, the Raal is faster than the 009s, a tad more detailed, and certainly better sound stage and imaging.

Hi Nice Review!!! Currawong mentioned that the Jot 2 is a good pairing for the Susvara, what's your opinion on that? And would schiit Vidar good for the Susvara? Thank U

The Jot2 is not a good pairing for the Susvara, if you have heard the Susvara on top quality stereo amps, as much as I like and respect Currawong. The Jot 2 just doesn't have the hardware to do what a Pass Labs or Accuphase or McIntosh power amp or integrated amp can do, in terms of driver control, bass,etc. Schiit Vidar on the other hand, I have heard good things about. The best stereo amp that's not as expensive as the Pass or Accu or McIntosh is the Naim Super Nait 3, for the Susvara or for speakers.
