In 1973, at the age of 11, I attended my very first live concert in Helsinki. Suzi was my absolute favorite, and my room witnessed my adoration, as its walls were completely adorned with her pictures when listening first album I bought to my c-cassette player.
At that time she was asked by the German Teenager magazine BRAVO, why she was playing bass guitar. Her answer was that the sound and the vibrations were going just where she needed them. Right Between her legs. That nearly blew my head off. I was 9 years old and to me she seemed the hottest woman since Emma Peel and Barbara Eden (genie). :)
This song was a huge hit in Australia in the early 70s! Only found out recently Suzi married Guitarist, the big fella Lenny Tucker! They were an item in this video
@@Jwalkerthestalker I saw her less than 2 weeks ago at Rochford Winery - she's still got it, and she said this is her 39th tour of Australia! They had a kind of mosh pit in front of the stage and she can still captivate you with those eyes! She doesn't wear leather any more though. 😀
When Suzi Quatro came on the scene it was like a whirlwind that blew all the other Artists by the wayside. Suzie was an original, she was raunchy, sexy and had a no nonsense attitude, she was like a breath of fresh air.
She handled that microphone incident like a pro. Was only 13 when this came out and loved it then and still love it at 50 yrs old. What a great mix of music came out in the 70's and 80's and thank God I lived thru it. Any song that came out from them decades can transport me back in time the moment I hear the songs. Dont think you could say that about songs nowadays.
@@cahillgreg every decade lasts 10 years. The thing is, as we get older some of us realize there are things we haven't done and probably never will, which is why time seems to fly faster.
Suzi is my cousin, and her father, Leo, was the one who started her off as a musician. He was her manager, and technical advisor on her albums. At one time, I had the first record, (actual record, not 8 track or cassette), but that disappeared early on.
@@ACDZ123 Not that I know of, just a direct cousin. Only met her once when I was a kid at a family reunion. Had her first album, but of course that disappeared. Apparently, from what Mom told me, she and I could not be broken apart at the reunion, I guess we were having a great time there.
@stevenrussell5340 cool. I met her in a bar i worked at in 1990 in Perth Western Australia..she was with her husband who was in the band I think ...it was closing time on a Monday or Tuesday night around midnight and I let them stay back and have a drink with staff. I wish I had a camera ..
It was the first vinyl record I bought when I was a teenager. The house shook listening to this, to my mother's despair.
I can certainly remember this back in the 70s but I used to get the lyrics completely wrong. I used to think it said "the party ain't bad the party ain't bad and the lights ain't bad and the music ain't bad and the people ain't bad". That's how I used to sing it back then, and you know what's really funny? The way I sang it back then kinda made sense 🤣. But anyway, I'm glad I found out the proper lyrics. Thanks for the upload.
We saw the original Fleetwood Mac at the Birmingham Palladium with Suzi and her sister. They were two sweet looking teenagers and just learning about rock. Good times a long time ago.
She came over Germany like a storm on still land.I was in Army in Münster in 1973 and Suzi had a concert in "Halle Münsterland" She was louder then a jet. And she was the Star of our Generation. But she can make quietly music too ! like Stumblin In( with Chris Norman ) , She`s in love with you, or The Wild One. It was a good time !
It's only Rock and Roll !!!!!!
This is the first song I heard back in the 70s. It was recorded on an x-ray of someone's ribs in a rural "recording studio" and beat off my young brains completely))) It was later, on the waves of the Voice of America, Yuri Osmolovsky said that this was Suzi Quatro, or, as we used to say : Quadro)))
Remember listening to Suzi Quatro album as a kid in Mexico City. I was only 9, my Dad had this vinyl didn't understand jack but i used to love her voice
I never noticed till now and I've watched this video about two dozen times, that the mic falls and she just keeps going and uses the next mic and they lower it for her and she doesn't hesitate a second. She was pure rock and roll. My theory is her hotness melted the microphone
Suzi Quatro has NEVER received the proper amount of credit for her influence on early punk rock. So many of the bands that get tossed into the "glam" or "glitter" category (from Sweet to T. Rex, from Heavy Metal Kids to Sensational Alex Harvey Band) were hugely influential on the '77 punk explosion as well the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. Suzi Quatro ruled and was one badass chick with an infectious and wicked voice whose place in rock history is sadly overlooked....
You left somebody very important out. Iggy Pop. Iggy and Suzi the to quintessential influences on punk rock no doubt. Both from Detroit. They would have made a great couple although deep down she's much more of a regular Country Girl.
Suzi Quatro had huge hits like 48 Crash and Can the Can in countries like Australia and England but the Americans kind of ignored this glam-rock style of music. I think Americans were more into the laid back California sound and rhythm and blues in the early to mid 1970's and found Suzi a bit challenging whereas other countries absolutely loved her. It's a pity that Americans missed out on her talent.
As an American I can verify we never heard of her before the internet, but rythem and blues?? No, not quite, pink Floyd, rolling stones, kiss, led zeppelin, Beatles, Kansas, police, Styx, Doobie brothers, CCR, Steve Miller, Elton John, Ozzy, you know, real rock and roll.
