My dad got one of these new when I was little. Still drives it till this day. This morning I bought me one. Runs amazing and needed a little help knowing how to change the oil and found thos video. Very very very helpful!
Hey, I'm glad I found this. Bought my C90 3.5yrs ago and regular maintenance was covered by the warranty for 3 yrs. Now I'm doing my own. It's in good shape and I want to keep it that way. The humor/lightheartedness is appreciated (as I saw someone else mention that).
Thanks for the video buddy. I used to have one of these and then sold it almost 12 years ago. Bought another one last week and needed a refresher course on where everything was located for the oils change. Hope your bike is still on the road. Thanks again.
Just a helpful reminder. always remove the fill nut first just in case somehow you can not get the nut to move you will not be stuck with no gear oil in the final drive. Also I made the mistake of forgetting to change the middle gear of gear oil.
Appreciate the video. Just did an oil change minus the filter after noticing I was a little low and added too much oil when topping off and had to drain a little.
We just bought the Suzuki C90 Boulevard Lehman Jackal Trike- so it the same bike in front. We will do the oil changes after the first 1K check-up by the Dealer. My first Suzuki, her second. I had Triumphs, two Harley's and even a 47 Indian years ago- Now the trike for us older folks. We do love the Suzuki - a lot of motorbickel-! Lol Many Thanks Again.
Thank you just bought a C90t it’s been sitting up for about three years and I was needing to know how to do all this perfect timing to run across you video. You made it look so easy, I think I can handle it now. What kind of pipes do you have they sound great!
Very helpful sir, thank you. I'm about to replace the stator, already checked the rectifier and it's fine, but i gotta' drain the oil to get to the stator Lol. Seen your other video on it too, also very helpful. Appreciate your humor during the maintenance of the job :) Where's the best place to get the stator cover gasket, dealer??? ..or cheaper somewhere else?? Thnx again!!
Hey, Glad if I could help. I got the stator and gasket from a web site called Rick's Motorsports. The dealer was much more expensive, but check one in your area.
Have the same bike same year. First ime it let me down had to take the tank off to find the main 30A fuse. Thought while I have it off might as well try my own oil and filter change. Air filter under there. Your vid was helpful and the bonus rear drive oil bit was sure helpful. PS what pipes are on yours?
I bought a c90 boulevard in Arizona for mother's day and currently I am living in the northeast corner of Oklahoma can you give me recommendations on what do I need to do to tune up and whatnot
I would change the plugs and air filter too along with the oil. That's about it I guess. Here is a video of me changing the spark plugs ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CEMsA6fWCNM.html
@@RickMammana Had a little bit of an issue with the oil levels. Since I changed the filter as well I went with the recommend oil level. Well, it went over so had to siphon out some oil. Other than that it went well. Thanks.
Hey Rick! I just got my 2007 Suzuki Boulevard c90 and was wondering if you knew the if I need a torque wrench for the oil and what kind of torque wrench to get? Loving the videos of your bike!
Thanks Rick I’m ready to change my oil b4 spring and this helped alot. One question, any reason u used the 10w40 racing 4t instead of the 20w50 for v-twin?
20w50 is hard as hell on your bike when first starting and on top of that, these bikes fuel tanks are tiny and that thick oil uses more gas due to the difficulty of Spinning the motor. I use Rotella t4 15w-40 which is perfect for the type of riding I do. Rotella T4 is only $13 for a gallon and it's jaso certified (Japanese motorcycle) so I use this in all my bikes (03 intruder, gsxr 1000, ltz400). Yes it's diesel oil but also great in motorcycles and I ride my bikes hard. 03 intruder I'm constantly going 110mph (top out) and my gsxr1000 I always go 160+ everytime I ride her (not for long periods of time unless I'm on the beltway. I live in DC (no chase law)!
Hey Rick, fun vid, thank you. Question for you. Yesterday I went on my first full ride on my 2018 C90T to Kansas, from OKC and back, when I got home, I was in my drive way waiting for the garage to open and then tried shifting into 1st gear to move forward, I was stuck in Neutral and couldn't get out of it, had to push the bike into the garage. Not sure what it was, after the bike sat and cooled down I went back out and tried shifting into 1st and it worked, played around with the shifter and all the gears work, have you experienced this before? I put 400 miles on my bike yesterday and had one hec of a ride, just don't understand why it did this... Thanks in advance for your kind wisdom
Hi, Once I had a problem where it wouldn't shift into first from neutral. Inside attached to the shifter there is a star gear with 5 pins on it. One for each gear. One of the pins was sticking out farther than the others. That was making it hard to shift. I had to take it apart and remove that star wheel gear. Put green loctite on the loose pin and hammer it flush again. I let the loctite dry overnight, put it back together and it never happened again. I know it's a big job but I did it. I found the instructions online somewhere. I hope that helps. Good luck with it!
@@RickMammana thank you Rick, appreciate the help. Looking forward to more videos, I don't know where you are, but if you are ever near OK give a shout out so we can ride. 😉
What do I do when the clutch overheats from stopping heavy traffic and now the F1 displays on my C90 Boulevard. 2005 just like yours...oh, it cooled down and I was able to drive it home. But now the oil, in the reservoir looks burnt.
I'm not really sure. First I would change the motor oil and the filter and see how it is then. The oil lubricates the clutch on these bikes. If it's bad that might happen. Good Luck with it.
"I can't read this Chinese shit... America... right? America... oh, I'm working on a Japanese bike, sorry. Forget I said that." ha. I love that you also called out Harley guys immediately after that. My old neighbor has two Harleys. When I first moved in, he came over to come check out my Harley. To his surprise, it was a Boulevard C50. Fraction of the price and runs great!
Metric Bikes ... M109 VZR's are Harley Eaters and probably have more American parts than a Harley fraction of the price to ride and maintain, So stay in your lane HD Bro's
How long did you run the bike to get the oil warm? I've attempted to change the oil but the bike gets so hot very quickly. Afraid of the top layer of skin melting to the pipes.
Hi, I'm not sure what you mean about cool liquid. There is no coolant. The oil cools the motor on this bike. If that's what you meant. Thanks for watching. :)
Before you open your plastic bottle of oil, stand it in a pot of very hot water first ( about 5 minutes or more). This will warm the oil up and thin it down a little and make it easier to pour.
Hi Rick! Very good video! Can you tell me how much oil my vl1500lc Suzuki intruder 2004 need engine oil please? Also can you point in mml please cause I'm in Europe.... lol thank you very much
+Andrew Rush Hi, I guess I would use what I used here in the video. It's way hot here too over 100 this week and humid. Not complaining though, I'd rather have this weather than cold and snow. Thanks for watching!
Awesome thanks for the reply ! I've been bad and let my oil go a little longer than I should and I was stuck in 1st gear walking my bike traffic near Dallas for 45 minutes, bike got so hot it formed air bubbles in my clutch line. I have inline bleeders installed so it was an easy fix once the bike cooled off - thanks again, I'm off to do my oil - Ride On -
+Andrew Rush Ok. Yeah I hate those traffic jams like that. The heat that way isn't good for the bikes. Cool for the inline bleeders. OK, Yeah Ride On! Have fun.
@@RickMammana I love the C90/ 1500 Intruder. You are an amazing mechanic and your light hearted videos are very entertaining! You are talented and a naturally funny guy.
Eric 710 K&N filter has a socket fastener on the end of the filter so you can use a socket wrench to remove and tighten. Fram filters don't have that. Thanks for the final drive oil change tutorial - I need to do this on my 2008 C50T.
I’m not a big fan of the low sound exhaust pipes on the stock bikes, I changed mine out with van Hines which are pretty loud. Also on the gear oil you’re supposed to change it once a year not every two years. At least that’s what it says for mine.
+Rick Mammana I was just curious and thought you might know. I think I remember you saying you worked on cars or trucks and I thought you may have heard something about such stuff. Just a thought.
