I’ve got the same bike here in Cali. 2015 drz. Same setup almost. Wolfman paneers, full fmf replacement exhaust, 3x3 mod, bash plate, rad guard, hand bar guard, wider pegs, Corbin seat, fender eliminator, ThumperTalk car guards, batt charge extension, usb charger, led turn signal replacement, Dunlop 606 tires. Instead of the large tank I opted for a 1 gal rotopax tank mounted on the tail. I like being able to leave it home on shorter rides and being able to share fuel if needed.
Very nice set up. I'm looking at buying a DRZ and now that I've seen your kit, I see that there some necessary things that I never thought to carry and should/will carry. Thanks.
Just a little tip just have to do little notches in your fender and it'll stay there man that's what everyone does little naches to little naches it won't fall off !x
they are a neat bike. It would be my choice if I ever buy an offroad bike. Some nice mods there. You might want to think of modding the brake and gear levers. Basically you can attach a wire cable to the front of each lever..with enough slack so the levers can still function. The idea being: to stop any tall brush/plants from getting between the levers and gear casings...which can force the levers out and possiby get snapped off. I first seen this idea on a friend of mines WR450.
They were pretty bright! Unfortunately, through a series of events I no longer have that bike but I miss it all the time. I sold it for a 03 KTM exc400 which I broke my leg riding. I then sold that and didn't have DS for a while.. I now own a used 99 dr200 that I goof around on. Just a skidplate and new handlebars for that one so far.
I miss my subi. Sold it for a down payment to buy a house. I had rebuilt the motor through outfront racing in Buena Park, Ca. Bored .030, the works. I think I had about $7k in the motor. Cobb tuner, invidia cat back exhaust.. JDM head unit conversion kit with a back up camera. She was a sleeper and she was fun.
I sold my KTM because it was getting old 2001. I couldn’t justify paying $11,000 for a new EXC. so I went with a DRZ. I rode an Enduro this past weekend and it performed better than I thought.
You seem set for most every contingent! Curious about the amount of weight you're carrying with all of that gear? You may have already answered this as I didn't read through the entirety of the many responses to your solid production.
Cool bike! I would like to buy one maybe in USA and send it to Costa Rica. How much for and use one kind of stock in US? The idea is start to upgraded it here
Good luck! I really enjoyed my bike the way I had it set up. I wish I never sold it. It could go anywhere and I never had to worry about running out of gas.
Wow you carry a lot of stuff and extra weight! If you're using the bike for adventure bike I can understand it, but for a trail bike it seems like too much. The DRS is already a heavy bike to pick up if you dump it, but now there is even more weight added.
Yeah, I was kind of a boy scout when I put the bike together. I eventually got rid of the tailbag and just kept the rear fender bags and even lightened that up. I eventually sold the bike to get a 2004 EXC400, which I promptly broke my leg on. The KTM was light as a feather compared to the DRZ.
Nice video...Lots of 1st aid stuff...(that is always good to have). Not sure if you carry a tow strap....They come in handy at times... Happy Trails !!
I liked it. It was loud enough to get you noticed while driving in traffic but not too loud that your head would be buzzing from the noise after riding all day.
How easy/difficult was the IMS tank install and what you'd think of the tank overall? I'm considering it but there seems to be a a lot of people who've had bad experiences with them, mainly that the tanks don't install easily and that you have to tip your bike to get that extra fuel.
I bought those lights some 7 years ago. I probably got them from procycle.com or RevZilla or rocky mountain mc/atv. Just drilled a hole in the fairing above the headlight for a switch.. everything else was fine.
The seat cover isn't that big of a deal. You buy the kit and put it on yourself. Easy peasy. The tank i had a mechanic install but it was well with it.
Just bought a new in stock 2015. Like your add ons. I wish the tank looked a bit better though. Thinking on going the rotopax route for extra gas. Nice vids
Camping gear? LOL I stay in hotels. Actually this bike was set up for a ride from San Diego to Vegas through desert and mountain trails and fire roads. We had a chase truck with a trailer and they kept all of our bags. I have since gotten rid of the tail bag, it's too flimsy to stay on securely on many of the trails I rode.
@@JeremyBechtold I am having one hell of a time trying to get the same tank over the Duvall radiator guards, any tips?? it seems like it is hitting the corners of the guards making it hard to install without scratching the inside of the tank. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!
@@camronwolff4247 I had the same issue. I eventually took it to a shop near me and had a mechanic do it. It was worth it to pay someone else with better tools and experience. Sorry I couldn't help you better.
I think I'd get a little over 200 with how my carb is jetted. Never ran it below 1/4 tank. I was the fuel truck for all the Huskies and KTMs on my last desert ride.
Don't be scared, I'm just accident prone. I sold the DRZ for an older KTM EXC400 and wish I kept the Suzi. KTM was a good bike, just didn't have a lot of seat time on it and didn't feel as comfortable with it.
I do, although I don't ride DS right now, just my Harley. I plan on putting up a vid of my GoPro to Vegas but I got into a bad fall in October '17 and it took a while to recover. I never should have sold the drz.. I loved that bike.. it was heavy but I knew how to ride it better than the exc 400 I got afterwards.
Jeremy Bechtold , I like the set up in your DRZ I am torn between the WR250R and the ......DRZ. I want to set it up to travel as well play locally. Plans are to Moto Camp. I have been a long time Harley Rider (15 Ultra Classic currently) for years. I watch all the dual sport videos and realize I am missing out. What do think about the WR250R? Will the DRZ handle the highway for sometimes long distances ?
@@chrisraley4252 if you're used to riding a Harley then the weight difference between the WR and DRZ isn't a big deal. I'd personally go with the DRZ because it can handle the highway with lower RPM, even though it's got a gear less. The Drz is a 5 speed and the WR is a 6. The DrZ is a tractor.. it climbs hills like crazy.. I'd recommend watching EverideADV YT channel. I think he does a review on a WR a few years ago. He owns a DRZ and has a lot of experience with it. I think the trend is going with the 400cc class because Kawasaki is getting rid of the KLR.. not very many 600cc bikes out there.. I think you'd find the WR a little lacking in the power range.. also check out Vegasaromaniac on YT. He does a lot of short reviews as well.
Jeremy Bechtold 10-4 I really appreciate it. I have been looking around , the price is right on the DRZ. WR’s almost twice the price used. Again I appreciate it. I have been watching everide and I will check out the other fella. Thank you !
Bill Buck eh.. I was single at the time.. I’ve since sold it for a ktm exc 400, which is up for sale because I just broke my leg on it and now I’m married and have 5 kids to take care of.
Don't worry mate, when the kids are old enough they'll leave and you can get the brand new KTM 2030 nuclear powered dirtbike. Jokes aside when your kids get older it's a really cool thing to do with them, my dad and I just rode through France on our bikes.
