About 2 lbs lighter for the Yoshimura @ $799 WTF 😂 why waste $$$ I bought a aluminum billet performance exhaust tip off ebay for $15 it replaced the OEM muffler cap & spark arrestor and opened the exhaust from a tiny approx. 3/4 inch (don't have the OEM tip/spark arrestor to accurately measure) but the new exhaust tip is a massive 2" exit with spark arrestor. I've had many motorcycles , street and dirt with many different header /muffler combos like DG/FMF/Yoshimura/Vance& Hines /White Brothers including a couple Supertrapps (IDS & External disc) with the fundamental goal of a header being get air out quicker after ideally adding more fuel by re-jetting and adding a better air filter to add a few HP and get a more pleasing brapp brapp sound or whatever word suits you lol currently riding a DRZ 400 with 3x3 mod , re-jetted carb added a K&N and opened up the exhaust, installed a Renthal aluminum rear sprocket saved almost 1 pound at the wheel which makes a real difference and added 4 teeth which makes a real difference and still have about $600 in my pocket by not buying a Yoshi/DG/FMF ..wanna save 2 pounds go on a diet

Well... That's not really an accurate representation of the situation. It's $799 for the carbon fiber version of the RS2, and I have no idea how much that version weighs. This video was about the aluminum version which currently comes in at $675. I will admit this does nothing to change the principle expressed in your statement. It's a borderline egregious monetary figure for the proclaimed "benefits." I've heard many positive remarks regarding the aftermarket end caps for the factory system like you have, and it's easy to make a strong argument against the purchase of a full system particularly when such options exits. Plus I believe most of us could benefit from a diet adjustment! 🤣

Interesting information, thanks for sharing. I'd just like to add a few things as well that can be done to reduce the weight of the S/SM models. You can swap out the huge OEM headlight, turn signals and the tail light assemblies for much smaller and lighter LED units. The passenger footpegs and hardware are quite heavy, and can be removed if you wont be using them. There are small aluminum plates w/aluminum hardware you can purchase off ebay, Amazon etc that are used as an exhaust support mount on the rear right side, since the right side passenger footpeg doubles as an exhaust mount. Another thing I did on my bike (since I do no street riding in heavy traffic) was remove the cooling fan. The fan only ever kicked on for me in a couple extreme situations that I'm not likely to find myself in often, if at all. Those times it did turn on I was following a buddy through the woods at very low speeds, and even allowing the bike to idle for unnecessarily long periods of time. It also didn't help that I was running slicks on sumo wheels constantly spinning the rear tire due to low traction.

A very well written and informative comment. Thanks for sharing! I never thought about removing the fan. Most dirt bikes don’t have fans and I’ve never had mine come on. While I don’t ride technical off road trails due to their non existence here in central FL, I have been stuck in a lot of mid summer central Florida traffic. Still no fan engagement. Seems like a fair bet to remove for many people - particularly if you threw on a water temp gauge. I suppose the horn could be tossed as well if you were not worried about the downsides of that. Good stuff bud!

Hey Cody, just came across your zx6r videos. I brought one recently (thinking guy sold me a lemon) and it wont start. Got fuel pump but wont prime. Blew fuses. Got new ones and not when I press start button wont even crank. Any tips?

Hope you fixed it already, but it sounds like a bad starter Relay, or a kill switch malfunction.

Hey Cody, nice info, I have the std MRD, so a little interpolating for me but certainly helps! Was wondering if you feel like if your carb jetting is good for both the MRD and the Yoshimura? My thinking is the MRD is way more open than even the Yoshimura, starting to think the JD Jetting recommendations don’t really cover the MRD very well.🤔

Put a full yoshimura on my 2008 almost 2 years ago. Followed the jetting directions with the extended fuel screw. It was way to rich.last weekend I put the stock pilot jet back in and went from the 170 main jet to the 160 main. Night and day difference. It takes longer to warm up but it rips now. Alot more power.

Hey JAS! Yeah for the std I think it’s what, two inches longer? Little guesstimating there as it relates to the info in the video. Ironically I’ve always had slightly rich vibes similar to Kev E and have been wanting to swap the main jet down to a 160 just to see. I felt that way with the MRD and as you mentioned the Yoshimura flows less than the MRD. Smaller diameter pipe, larger muffler, more restrictive baffle etc. With less flow I’m even more curious about dropping to the 160. Or at least play with clip positions. Anyway, if you feel like your machine is lean, pull the plug and check the color. That’ll give you an idea of where you’re at. You could try a different clip position assuming you’re on the largest jet in the kit already. Can I ask what’s making you feel like it’s lean?

Wait a minute, you clearly looked at my work before commenting, you can’t claim you knew the math! lol This excel sheet is something I used in a previous video to collect information on noise level. This video is an extension of the other. So, I wanted to put the info on the same sheet. It kinda ties the two videos together, and keeps my info in one place. Who knows, I may add more to it later. People can certainly do math.
