So here it is! The asked for video of the GSXR! More to come, I've properly laid into this project now and thrown more money in to it(cries in no money) but it'll be worth it when it fires up :)
My k3 has been sitting over 16 months after a back injury. Would I benefit having this cleaned before starting. Not sure if the injectors should be replaced or not
Class job there GB. Brings back haunting memories of doing the carbs on the ZXR, still haven't recovered from that one. Carbs are a dark art. Looking forward to more in this series.
Super props to you for braving the tear down. I’m about to trailer my 96 SRAD 750 to have mine rebuilt. Having odd issues with losing power while riding. Appreciate your video’s 👍
Funnily enough these days I'd have them stripped and back together in no time so it was well worth learning them :) Ah also check your air lines from the air box to the carbs, if they split or pinch they can do that, you'll get a weird power loss around 7-8k rpm.
I think it's great you are prepared to delve into the mysteries of multi cylinder carbs and not simply send them away to be cleaned. I'm thinking don't delete the disassembly footage, just to be safe.👍 Nice to see another RU-vid superstar in the comments section.
It might prove to be a terrible idea in the long run but I always want to learn more about this stuff and this is the best way to do it! Oh I always take photos as I go along with this stuff to be safe :) It's always nice to see Shadetree pop in makes my day 😁
GSXRRRRRRRRRRRRR Gloves are for nerds... Flawless piece of gsxr design I see your 3 in one oil. That I need to get. Why is it always raining when you are in your shed? That was the BEST DAMN VIDEO I ever SAW in my LIFE. (even if i did miss most of the premier) I love your gixxer and I love you for making videos on the gixxer I can't wait to see a motovlog on it. k bye mwah
Gloves are for ... Me apparently 😂 It's true, it's perfect 😍😍 3 in 1 is the bomb. Get some! I dunno? God is crying that I'm not riding my bike 😂😂 Thanks thanks :P It'll hopefully be sooner rather than later 😁😁😁 Byyyyeeee
Haha thanks! I'll.put it to you this way, if I had bought it non running it'd be too much money to put in. Or if I wasn't planning on doing this for the next 20 years 😂😂 not cheap! Thanks!
Thanks for the vid, my srad 97 carbs are sat on the dining room table... Haven't a clue what I'm doing/looking at... Think your carbs are slightly different to mine but still a great walk through!
Not at all thanks for watching! Mine were in a box for 6 months and I didn't either, I've done singles before and such but these were way more of a challenge :) In a good way! Glad you found it some way helpful, I didn't realise there was a difference between 96 and 97 carbs!
Mine, don't seem the have the feul lines ru ni g along the front attached the the float covers... So, I but mine all back together after cleaning... Think it's save to say I need new seals, thing leaked like a sieve!! Fancy another project srad 😂
2024, fixing 2000 GSXR 600, any information if rebuilding carbs would help with idling issues. Blip the throttle, and it revs and stays at 3-4krpms. ONLY happens when the choke is off. Turn choke on, and the problem is much less or doesn't happen. Besides that, their are missing fittings, air/vacuumlines, wiring harness looks like it was messed with. spark plug connector to the coil for 3 was on 4 and 4 on 3. Any info or tips or how to fix? the series has been helpful so far on giving me an idea on what can be repaired. THANKYOU!!
Please could you share where you buy a good quality carb kit, seals gaskets etc. Fantastic video, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Rgds Noel (GSXR 1100 WP)
I got my last few through Freeman motorcycles, but I've also bought all the separate bits from cmsnl.com before. I bought the rebuild kit for this one on ebay from the USA. Thanks! I'm a hobbyist, by no means an expert and I do things wrong all the time :D Oh nice I'd love an 1100 at some point! :)
Awesome vid mate! My 97 SRAD carbs are also spread out on the dining room table! Can you tell me how you removed those pesky needle valve seats??? Mine aren't budging and it's doin my head right in lol oh my days... Any suggestions on persuading them out????
Thanks :) Haha the right place for them during winter :P If you have replacements you just get a pliers and pull them out. Otherwise soak it in kerosene and it should loosen up the o rings. They're probably just after welding themselves to the seat.
Hi man Please Please please tell me you still have the Honda Hornet 600 2007-2009 model i recently bought one here in South Africa and sadly it was droped by the previous owner Would you be able to send my a Photo of the Cluster Plug / wires under the plastic black cover as 3of mine on the 20Pin connector are broken and i need tovtrace them back and try to fix it as I'm driving around without a speedo any help would be amazing!
Apologies amigo I never actually owned that bike it was my friends I just borrowed it for a video or two! I can ask him to try get a photo tho. Left or right side?
@@TheGorillaBiker aa thank you man just a straight up shot frm the top please it would help me out a ton as it's my daily ride to work and back and I'd love to have a working speedo as my Kilos aren't climbing and i want to do a full service on 30000km
It depends really, a lot of different places. I used cmsnl.com, ebay, fuelperformance.co.uk, helperformance.com, My local bike shop. Pretty much whoever could get me the parts I wanted quickly :D For hard to get bits I mainly used cmsnl, it's the most expensive place to go but they generally have everything. Oh nice, I'd love a slingshot! Beautiful bike!
Anything from the UK is as expensive these days for me coming to Ireland! Have to pay customs now either way sadly. You could buy whatever parts you need separately from cmsnl.com either :) De nada señor
Hopefully anyway, I have everything freed up now anyway and new seals on the way! Just want to get fuel in to it and fire it up to check everything else over
Keep an eye on the fuel level in the tank. Every carbed bike ever smells of fuel in my experience. The fuel left sitting in the carb bowls evaporates over time and that's likely what youre smelling. It's an open system really. If you not seeing any leaks I wouldn't worry about it :)
@@PaddyOutback I fully support this idea. It's the only way to learn and you'll love it! Just try control the angry outbursts( they will happen) and don't set a hard timeline it'll just stress you
I bought a cheaper ultrasonic bath to give it a go. Nothing was taking off some of the varnish! Ah I'd need to gaskets anyway at minimum I just got new jets in the set too as these were sitting in fuel for 13 years odd.
Sound job so far. Gloves..... what is it with HSE....... How many years have people been stripping engines. How many of them have life threatening skin diseases? I digress. Never had access to an ultrasonic cleaner. Take the butterflies off the shafts and then see about removing the shafts.... Have done that many moons ago. The secret is to save old tooth brushes from everyone in the family. Never throw them away.....
I'm a nice bit further on now just have to get the videos edited...it's waiting for parts now! No idea, I've never really worn gloves but sure look if it'll keep people happy!! The glasses I'm on board with cus eyes are soft. I ordered a cheap one so we'll see how it works out :) I got them sorted without having to pull the shafts happily!! A good soak in Kerosene and spray the movement while I worked it with the good motul carb cleaner :) Haha absolutely!! They'll be used :D
I've since got them freed up!! I like experimenting and figuring it out anyway part of the fun for me, sadly a few of the mechanics I've spoken to sneer when you mention you do your own work and stuff. Not all, maybe like 20% of them, but that has turned me off asking a lot of questions tbh. I know that's a bit silly but there ya go! :)
@@TheGorillaBiker yeah you get some asholes in this country with opinions.... Unfortunately!!! The world is densely full of them. How did you free the carbs up just wondering. Was it a tight spring or lots of wd 40? Of into another question. I thought if you needed to help a few learners bikers out there you could maybe talk throught the full bike test fir a video or something like that. I'm a bit stressed about passing mine and I don't know many bikers I can ask to explain it to me and the biking instructors are usually booked up months at a time. Sorry about the long message!
@@TheGorillaBiker It’s really cool man. I watch even though I’ll never do anything like this. My wife loves your voice. She often giggles. Thanks brother.
