Nothing wrong with these bikes, sport bikes are a pain in the real world, sore arms and legs, the gsx f is a bike for a thinking rider, ride to work or take a trip it will do it, if you want a rubbish bike ride a Harley
To sum up. It doesnt't have the power of a liter sport bike. It doesn't have the sound of a 25k (base price) Ducati and it doesn't have the comfort of an ADV bike. And all that you can find with 3k or less. I mean.. come on dude. This bike was made for commuting or being a beginner bike until it gets "boring". Don't compare it with the giants
I've had one for about 5 years now. It's definitely the best looking one in its pricing range (if you like sport bikes). It looks way more modern than it really is (pointy nose, one solid headlight, modern cockpit with gear indicator). That is the main reason why I'm loving it and not letting it go (maybe swap it for the GSX 1250). It's also extremely reliable and fairly powerful. I can't really judge the power since it's the first bike I owned, but even when it was restricted to 35KW it could easily hit 230 kmh (140mph). Now that's gotta say something...
i had one from 2013 till 2018, then bought a 2018 gsxr 1000, which i recently just sold, too. I really regret selling the GSX. The 1000 was amazing, but i wish i would've gotten a 600 instead, or just kept the 650. It's plenty fast enough for public roads, comfy, and sounds great with a yoshimura pipe. I put over 60,000k's on mine. Apart from the front shocks giving up leaking around 40k, i never had to do anything to it. Regular oil and filter changes, brake fluid and brake pads, that's it. though i did the oil every 4000k' or so. I originally bought it when i was still on learners, came from a cb125e lol. Handy tip : If yours is a lams model like mine was, removing a single cable from the fuse box completely un-restricts the bike, and gives it full power, so if you can find a lams bike for cheaper, go for it! The only gripe with it was that it is 240kg and you will feel it. My 1000 came in at 203kg wet, but it felt like a feather in comparison, especially in the twisties. While i could never get a knee down on this bike, i could drag them all day on the 1000.....But wayy different bikes, and i know which one i'd rather pick as a long term option. Now i just wish my 6'4 frame would fit a 600.....cbr, r6, daytona 675, gsxr 600....they all feel horribly small and cramped, with the cbr being the absolute worst...I picked my gsxr 1000 because that was the only one that fit me nicely....I might have to try an 848 next!
I think an excellent compromise would be the Ducati Superport 950, or the 950S. Saw one a few days ago and yep, definitely a goer. The GSXR1000 is the most comfy supersport, no doubt about it.
Great and honest review and totally agree with the points you made 👍🏻 I've owned one of these since 2013, thought about upgrading but the bike a few times but the GSX650F STILL keeps putting a smile on my face 😃 in short a very decent all-rounder 😎
Purchased my GSX650F in 2014 from new, and still have it. Really pleased with it, and its been extremely reliable. Currently on 32k miles. I honestly can't fault it. Brilliant bike!
There are many videos talking about how sporty and “fast” this bike is. I made this video to say that it is neither sporty nor fast. 👍 It’s also, if you pay attention, not a really good sports tourer. So what is this bike? A cheap commuter.
No its not a sporty bike, and was never intended to be one, maybe in look only. The weight, the rider position and the inline engine is for touring. I guess you are into supersports, so your review felt a bit biased. But good vid, you made yr point.
Its a cheap good-looking sport touring bike from Suzuki It's not a Supersport bike It's not a pure cruising bike It's a very good bike in his class My girlfriend has one and she's very happy with that Bike you expecting to much That's why your review deserves one big 👎 dislike Have a nice day
I owned this exact bike, colour n all. I changed out the exhaust and it gave it a real growl, could be heard coming from a fair way. One twist on the throttle and I was away. Everything about this bike was awesome to me, and I rode it pretty hard n fast. Regret selling her :(
Keeps saying agakn & again that it's not a Super Sport.....that's because it's not a Super Sport...but spends 5mins telling us that...it's much more a Standard/Sports Tourer & you could do that in 30sec.
Wouldn’t be much of a video then would it? There’s a lot of people saying this is sporty etc. I wanted to shed light on that. Thanks for watching all the way btw. 😊
@@VroomBroomZoom I use it as a commuter bike here in Los Angeles. We can lane split legally on the freeways so it's a great time saver during heavy traffic hours.
FACTCHECK: The GSX650F does not come from the older Bandit 600's It comes the later 2007 and onwards Bandit 650 which had a completely different engine to the earlier models (Introduction of the water cooled engine with fEFI).and also had a completely different frame, bodywork and geometry to the older Mk 1 Bandit 600's.
Awesome, thx. This is a worrying finding, cos if Suzuki had a chance to change this frame and geometry, they certainly hadn’t brought it into the present, the way this bike rides and brakes was sub par.
@@VroomBroomZoom How many have you ridden- sounds like there was something wrong with your bike? Or more likely you've got no idea what you're talking about.
@@AndyPutt1 I agree with you Andy. As the owner of a 2009 model which I've had since 2014, bought with only 1600 miles on the clock, I've had no problems dealing with the 'twisties' . I guess a lot depends on how well you know the road, the condition of the road, the camber of the road, the make and quality of tyres etc ..etc.
Yeah mine for three months now put 5000 km on top of the 14,000 I got it with, including the entire Great Ocean Road, Mitta Mitta, Swifts Creek, all that sort of stuff, and the bike is designed to go fast and corner fast, the only limitation on it is my skill. But it easily will lean at 40 degrees around a 100km turn. No complaints with in that respect, at all, Nothing weird or worrysome in the corners.. very confidence inspiring actually. Been experimenting with a few windscreen options to try and improve wind noise of the fairing/windscreen at high speed on freeway but apart from that I have absolutley no issues with the bike. I really think this review is click bait, especially when the reviewer doesn't even mention how many k's they've put on the bikes etc. It's just so far off the general concensus..
I owned this bike for over a year and a bit and took it to the Brisbane hinterland many times, also did the Oxley on it. This bike, compared to virtually any other bike I’ve owned, was utter rubbish. Possible that the brakes were bad. This bike “will do the twisties” but ride it back to back with anything newer and you’ll understand. Even against just a SV650, the dynamics screams old heavy design. This is a “good” bike, but by no means is it a great bike.
Worst review i have ever bloody heard !!! This is a sport tourer. Review it for what it is. No it is not a GSXR or any other super sport bike. We bloody know that too.
In all seriousness, the point I was making is that when you read/watch videos about this bike and people say crap like “oh it will keep up with a Gixxerthou in the twisties” take that with a grain of salt.
It is what it is…not too old no, as it has injection, I just find it too heavy for the 650cc, but then it depends what you’re buying it for and what deal you’re getting 😊
This bike is awesome.. but would have been good if they would have based it around the GSXR600 rather than the bandit. So.. they could have put the GSXR600 engine in it.. maybe, Very functional road bike and it looks great though.
The bandit frame lets it down, it is very heavy relatively speaking. I think this was built as a strong commuter, if it was improved with better suspension, lighter, maybe slightly more power, a buyer may decide to settle for this instead of a GSXR600. This bike is what it is...an economic all rounder that doesn't light the world on fire, and it does that exceptionally well for the price.
seems to me you comparing a middleweight OLD bike against whatever is top end in whatever [art of the bike you looking at ( brakes not as good as a Blackbird no sh*t sherlock)
True. What should I compare it to? I guess the motivation was to be realistic when others say things like “this is a great canyon carver” which it is not.
@@VroomBroomZoom which is fair enough but comparing its exhaust note to supersports its obviously not a fair comparison. Would have been a more appropriate comparison if u compared the bike to other 650's which u did when u mentioned hyosung it would have been a more accurate Review thats just my opinion tho. In the process of selling my gt650r to buy one
From what I am gleaning no it's not a Ducati, BMW or any of these other company's Flagship bikes but it is quite the Goldilocks. I am on a cbr250r right now. This sounds like a perfect second bike! From this then I think I would go to a GSXR 750
I would also say, a step up to a GSXR750, skipping this 'in between' bike would also be a good option. And just to confuse you a little more, the SV650 in my opinion is a lot more fun, agile, smile-on-your-face step up to more power. Similar money, more character.
Why are you constantly comparing it to bikes that are 3 times it's price and in totally different categories. It's not a super sport or a Ducati, it's a rub if the mill bike for an average rider who wants bang for the buck.
I have justified my comments numerous time, but let's go again. If you look at the reviews for this bike, A LOT of them say that it's on par with a supersport etc....which it isn't. In this video, I wanted to highlight that it is neither of those things. You know that it isn't Graham, but people considering this bike do not and they deserve to hear the truth. It is, as you say, a run of the mill sort of nothing bike. And it's priced accordingly.
I bought a meh-good condition 2016 GSX650F with 16,000km for 3,800 AUD There's really no difference between the year models besides wear, even if it's restricted you just cut one wire in the ECU with scissors and holy shit im in love with it now
Fuck it shits me that content providers waste my time begging for likes and subscriptions in their videos. Just make great content and viewers will do that without you having to whine at them.
A bike afucking bike . Sick of people's nocking it down .i payed 5.500.second hand .fucking cheap bollicks. Gsxr. Should be on a race track . See a lot of deas boy racers look at me .fucking cant even do a burn out . Gsx650f agood bike .
Exactly. A good bike. And that is what I wanted to get across, that it isn't a racing bike, even though it is kind of looking like one and too many reviews saying that it is.
I managed 29 seconds... Before i reached for the SICK BUCKET and switched off !!!... Who do you think you are ?.. ROLF HARRIS ?.. "Have you guessed what it is yet" possums ✌️
Hmmmmm, I’d say this is a “medium” sized bike. The foot pegs are low, so your legs won’t be bent as much as on other bikes, but in all honesty, throw a leg over one, it’s the only way you’ll know. 👍
The rub is RU-vid doesn't care if you thumbs up or thumbs down on content. They just want to see users are engaging with a video. Best to do nothing other than chew the moron out.
Worst review ever, falling asleep listening to him talk about the mirrors. It's a great bike but he never felt confident on it, i don't feel too confident in his reviews either though so I'm no further 😂
Yeah mate I hear you but you could always be your own abs, like us old farts. These bikes do the bends no dramas at all. Maybe don't buy yourself a real handful before you master this one? Or do a track day with some instruction , how to settle and relax, countersteer trail brake . Unfortunately for me,I didn't to begin with a had some bad wrecks that cost heaps and broke bones. Some of us dumbfux will only learn the hard way aye but take from this old fella, when you know better you do better, easy as. Ride safe mate and be lucky 😜
Blue Sky hey man, thanks for your comments. I actually went backwards in power from having owned three blackbirds and a CBR600RR. Waaaaay back in power. I now have an old SV650 which, for me, inspires way more confidence in the way it carries it’s weight and tips in. As I said, the GSX650F is a great bike, but ridden back to back against other bikes, it becomes apparent very quickly where it’s shortcomings are in cornering and braking. The CBR1100XX was also heavy and had no ABS, but those brakes were twice as effective as the ones on my gsx. It could just have been mine. Anyway, as o said in the video, I loved this bike very much and is a great all rounder. 👍
