Watch as we replace the lock set on our 2007 Suzuki GSX-R1000. In the video, John shows you how to replace the lock set at the triple tree, the gas tank, and the seat. During the process, John will also show you how to remove the fuel tank and the airbox on the GSXR. This will give us a chance to change the spark plug on the GSXR.

You make it look so easy, great work. Can you tell me how long it took to replace the ignition lock, I am paying a pro to do it and I want to know how many hours labor I'm in for. Also, can be done just as easily while the ignition lock is in locked position? A would be thief damaged my ignition lock and I can't unlock it.

Hello, I have a problem with my GSXR 600 K7. Getting c42 error, checked wires, cleaned everything, still no start. Had a accident with the bike, the cover of key contact has a little crack. Started fuel pump a couple of times then stopped.

Google the error code. Could be many things. Spark plugs. Ignition. Make sure the fuel pump and fuel pump filter are in good condition. I had similar issue a yr ago, my fuel pump and filter were going bad. replaced both, she started up like new.

@@NightWear21 Thank you for your information. All that is good, my GSXR is a U2 model, has 4 cables at they comtact starter. Two of them are for reading key chip, apparently it can be by passed from ECU.

Hi, jhon I have a Suzuki 1000 k7 that i changed the gasoline filter and when I tried to run the tank it refused to work and after research I found the electricity does not reach the pump and the fuse is good.

Trace the wires back to see where you're losing power. Could be a short or damaged wire.

If you want to replace a lock set do you need to do anything in regards to the immobiliser, or isn’t it an issue? The key ID agreeing with the ECU, is that not an issue? How does it all work? I’m worried my bike isn’t going to start once I change the lock set.

I change out the ignition switch, the bike turn on. I dont hear the fuel priming, it cranks. It just stay cranking but wont fully stay on and idle. It some weird buzz sound i hear instead of the sound of the fuel priming. Could someone give me advice on what could it possibly be? 2007 gsxr600

I just replaced my ignition. Is there a way of replacing my gsxr 1000 gas cap without removing tank? Those 2 screws on the underside...are they absolutely required to remove in order to do so?

@@user-dc4nq6bl4pin the video his gas cap was locked. If you still have the key and are just rekeying your bike, you can just unlock the latch and not have to remove the tank at all.

one is air and the other is overflow. the one with the clip goes to the pump and will not leak out except maybe a drop or 2 if theres any on the downside of the tube

Take ur feul tank off and drain all the ⛽ out,then take it to a lock Smith and the will make a key 🔑 for,it happened to me ,and that's what I did👍🏽

Changed the igniton on my 2015 gsxr 600 and now it wont start everything works but hit the switch headlight go dim and nothing happens. It starts when I jump the relay

Bah.. my ignition bolts are on so damn tight from the installation using locktite.. I'm having problems loosening the bolts with the correct bit. I'm doing more stripping than loosening. there's got to be another way. :( I don't see why these bolts need to be SOO tight.. srsly. wtf..

Hi, I have an 08 Suzuki gsxr 1000, no keys, before I order the lock set from your site, do these bikes have transponders or is that only for UK bikes? Mine is US. Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure with that year. Typically, if they have the newer wing keys they have a transponder.

@@PartzillaParts thank you for the reply, I figured out that the oem ignition has a resistor to the ecu signal wire which acts as an anti theft, by the way, all your videos are very helpful and they teach me new things everytime I watch, thank you

@@gsxryxzaddict the factory ignition comes with a 100ohm resistor, I took it off and put it on the new aftermarket ignition that doesnt come with it, I then soldered one end to the 12V ignition wire, then soldered the other end to the ecu signal wire, heat shrunk and loomed everything up to protect it, starts right up

I was thinking the same. My old k6 600 was fairly straightforward. Remove old assembly from top of tank install new one. No fiddling with the fuel pump and removing gas at all.

Yeah I was wondering why he had to pull the tank and go in through the bottom, isn't is just 4 or 5 hex bolts holding the cap in place? I had a SV650 and currently have a VZ800 Marauder which use similar caps Some thieves stole my SV650 but hacked into my Marauder and stole the ignition key switch and seat lock when they tried to hot wire it.
