Thank you for this video, the task no longer seems so daunting. I have a (used) 2010 GZ250. I'm having trouble getting it into neutral both from first or second gear. It appears that my chain is loose. Do you think this is thee main' only reason, or can it be something else?
Good Video. Very instructive, not a bunch of BS, just what's needed. Where did you get that exhaust and did you have a problem with the large bolt underneath. I can't get mine off...
True! I didn't think of recording a before video though! As I mentioned it had such a big dead zone where it bogged out unless you let off or went wide open. Now the throttle responds evenly and predictably throughout the entire range! Crazy how a little washer can make that much difference!
Thank thousand for the beautiful and helpful video! Since I'm looking for this tiny cruiser, I'm interested in the reliability of the GZ. On some GZ250s I have seen a valve located behind the horn. Somewhere I read that it is the "valve air control", but not all GZ single cylinders have it. What is the function of this valve? Could this valve be critical to reliability? Does your GZ have it? Thanks so much for Your patience!
Greeting from Japan! This video was Great ! I learned a lot of thing from this video! I was amazed by the exhaust sound.Could you tell me what exhaust pipe did you use ?
Excellent video, thumb up 👍, confused watching details about turning Air screw more than 2.5 round Which is recommended by mostly manual book and mechanic....😄 And same as mine, on 13:21 air mix screw on 2.5 cycle can not hold idle speed, spud and stall on dead.....
NOTE ABOUT THE RICHNESS SCREW: I wasn't very clear about the purpose of adjusting that screw. It was not required to fix my bikes performance, but the GZ250 forum listed that from the factory it is too lean and that if you have issues with performance it may be worth trying 2.5 turns out.
For goodness sake! If you have no clue about what to do with the carb adjustment. Two options leave it well alone, to someone who does. Or learn what and how to do it. Carb forum fixed "adjustment". I'm sorry to say, is nothing short of ridiculous. It might not seem at a glance. But it's a really construtive critique. ;-)
It modifies the needle position ever so slightly for the entire throttle travel. This will allow more fuel to flow from the pilot to the main jet than before at any position of the throttle, hence fixing the bikes performance issues mentioned in the video and the description. This video is more informative and explains the needle very well: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7U0Cf15ZbW4.html

@@arlenburroughs Do you really mean the pilot jet? I thought it was connected to the mixture crew and did not connect to the needle/slide area of the carb. I have often found that setting the pilot crew slightly on the rich side helps off the bottom but you may have had a lean spot further up the band.
-- Cant get mine to run. It has spark. Removed the carb, cleaned all the jets. Tested the kickstand circuit, fresh battery (charging system works), good fuel. Problem is the same as before. It'll run for a few seconds with starting fluid, but barely on fuel. Air fuel mixture screw I've set several different ways. Fuel from the tank is getting to the carb, again I cleaned the jets (see right through them and the float bowl) have spark, adjusted idle. Seems to only chance it has to run for a few seconds is on choke. New plug, oil, filter, air filter. Suzuki GZ250, 2002. I'm at the end of my rope. Anyone have any ideas?
@@feralcatify -- Not yet, otherwise I'd share. Adjusting air fuel didn't work, new jets didn't work. Compression is good. I stink with carbs. Been learning since then on little 'throwaway' ones. Still waiting to take the bike to the dealer. 8-9 week wait period. Whatever it is, it's beyond anything I've ever seen no RU-vid university.
@@MarkJacksonGaming have you got the vacuum hose set into the back of the petcock? I had the same problem when I picked mine up last weekend and that fixed it
-- Yeah. I made sure. I never figured out was wrong. Finally just learned how to rebuild it. New floats, jets, adjustment screws, and all the rest. Runs fine now, but what the problem actually was, I'll never know :) @@Crvstylvngs
So I have a 2009 gz250. Stock pipes but the end with the baffle has been removed. Now it’s just a straight pipe. So far seems to run ok but the change was recently. Should I do this prevent the bike from having any issues on the straight pipe? I’ve read it can cause it to run lean but haven’t experienced any problems yet as it’s only had an hour ride time after being made a straight pipe.
Removed my finder on the front of my gz 250. It looked like shit. On that bike Not onley that it. Went with in and inch half from the road they are onley 1 inch clearance from the tire had a stick get lodged it stoped the bike At a dead stop Think goodness I didn’t wreck. It actually looks more sporty. With it off
