In Part 5, we travel to Nata, stay at Eselbe Camp, visit the Nata Bird Sanctuary, and explore Goo-Moremi Gorge.
In April 2021 we took our Gen 3 Suzuki Jimny on an epic adventure across Botswana. With our route plan done by Ultimate Routes we spent 30 days exploring the most beautiful and wild places we have ever experienced.

Modular design custom back board, fridge box + slider and double sided removable pigeonhole by John Leyden - DM for details.
Interior & overlanding gear upgrades to Jimnothy were done by African Sky Adventure Company - This includes our battery system, fridge, extra lights, awning, strengthened and serviced our Front Runner Roof Rack, refitted our roof top tent to accommodate two jerrycans and had previously fitted the Front Runner under roof rack table kit, the drop down tailgate prep table, and the African Sky interior roof storage net. www.afriskyadventure.co.za/
Mechanical upgrades to Jimnothy were done in 2020 Zombie Offroad - This includes 50 mm Des Sol 4x4 Adventure Hardware lift kit, supplied with Gabriel HDP Shocks, the Zombie Offroad steering damper, as well as the extended brake lines, EBC Brake pads, and 32 mm wheel spacers. zombieoffroad.co.za/
We also upgraded our tyres to the 215/75 R15 General Grabber AT3 at BestDrive specifically for Botswana

The Guys from Ultimate Routes are fantastic, I used them last year to assist with some bookings as we really struggled with DWNP. And I have now used them again for our next trip Next year 2023. Mabuasehube and Khutse.. However from our own experience we will never use a rooftop tent again with the jimny because the jimny is not built for it, and is just a shlep(something no youtuber or advert ever shows is that your car is basically a mess and you need to packup and re-orgenize verything every time you want to use your car thus no sleeping in a bit. if you want to be at that waterhole at 6am..).. With Ultimate Routes I have explained to them that I will be using a Trailer.. Worked on a 100L of additional fuel required for where we are going.. So the trailer is basically for fuel storage and our Rtt, to setup a base camp.. In the jimny our Kitchen and Fridge will remain. Keep up with the video's it is great..

Thank you! We have a done a few necessary modifications to ensure our Jimny can handle the Rooftop tent and the adventures we go on (we posted a review video where we talk about this). We prefer to travel lean and we have a great modular packing system in the back which helps keep the mess to a minimum, it helps that it's just us two so we could remove the back seats to allow for more packing space. Early mornings take some dedication but we have managed to get our pack-up routine down to about 15min with the two of us so we can still enjoy our coffee at the waterhole at 6am. :) We have considered the trailer as well, but we just love the agility of our compact setup and we love treading light through our beautiful wild spaces. Our base camps are usually pretty sparse. 🤣. Enjoy Mabua! We are heading there next year as well and we are so excited!!!

Nice vid ! I got my Jimny next week :) I would like to buy the Front Runner tent and I have a question : can I fix it on roof rail ? Or roof rack is the only way. Thanks !

We would recommend checking with the manufacturer as we are unsure if the roof rails are suitable. Personally we would recommend putting it on a properly installed roof rack to avoid damaging the roof. Hope this is helpful! :)
