In the US 2020 models can be had in near new condition for thousands off MSRP. I found one at nearly half off, which is incredible value considering what you're getting. I might be taking the plunge.
Nice vid. It's such an underrated bike & the more people hate on it, the more I like it. I also think it looks great too & new pads fix the brakes. Plus you can also add braided lines too. The 12 litre tank is silly but there are plenty of other bikes out there with very similar ranges of about 120 miles despite larger tanks. Nobody really criticises them because the tank capacity is greater but the end result is the same. The MT10 & Ducati V4 Street Fighter to name a couple of examples.
@@stevecade857 Agreed but I guess most bikes in this sector don't have a 160 mile range regardless of unless you ride like a policeman. Lots V4 & MT-10 owners are saying 120 mile tank range is typical. Although it obviously depends how your riding it & they have the potential to have a greater range than the Katana.
@@ragerider6283 That 120 mile range is when you start to think about your next fuel stop. The Katana is going to be 40 miles sooner. 44 mpg on the gen2 MT10 is what I'm getting and I don't ride like a policeman but then I'm not a complete hooligan all the time either.
@@stevecade857 Interesting & yes fair point. Just going by what other owners have said so will differ to your better judgemental of you are one lol! A lot of them consistently reporting 30mpg supposedly? Guess they were more on the hooligan end of the spectrum & it is a fun bike that makes you want to a bit bonkers supposedly. Either way though undoubtedly has a superior range to the Katana for sure.
Superb review, you convey the essence of the bike so well. I'd love to test ride one to compare to my Ninja 1000sx. Your comments about riding in traffic, in town, on country roads, and on the motorway echo my sentiments about the 1000sx exactly. Probably because they are both 1000cc in-line 4s. Mine has a decent size tank at 19l and is more practical for luggage, but is 20kg heavier wet. You certainly fit the Katana very well. You liking this and your Harley shows you are versatile! Thanks for making another interesting and enjoyable video.
Very cool looking bike. My wife said she wants to get rid of her Ducati Monster 821 and get this bike. That's why I'm watching these videos. I had a 1994 katana 750 when I was in college 22 years ago.🤣 I really need to see it in person. Thanks for the video
Good evening Tomboy_a_bit. Well that smile said it all. Someone I knew in the 1980s rode the old 550cc dohc. As expected dependable, reliable and did everything he wanted it to do. Seldom have the Japanese made a duff bike! By the way, nice to see you have more sponcers. About time! Safe happy riding till your next one. Hope tomorrow works out too. Laters 😊👍.
It was the bike I learned on and very forgiving for a beginner. Went to a Hayabusa right after and another Hayabusa and ZX14r. I thank the katana for the weight balance and the powerless 4cyl, (2003). Great starter bike then, looks like a great keeper bike now.
I'm.loving your reviews , you give us good unbiased opinions .and of course I just love your accent .Nice review I'm still considering a bike after many years out of the saddle , I'm only 5ft 4 so my choices are limited,
I've been riding since I was 13 yrs old and now I'm.......let's say 40+ years of riding and, for me, the naked thousands really bring out the essence of riding a motorcycle. Soo much fun. If you like the Katana, unusual looks, stonking engine and great sound you really need to try the MT10. It's like the Katana but just a bit better in every way except maybe looks but that's in the eye of the beholder anyway.
I agree, naked 1000s are ton of fun. MT10 is better, it also sounds even better than this Suzuki. But it is 2.000+ € more expensive at least where I live. Is it 2.000+ € better? Maybe... Or maybe not.
It's greqt you got to feel it before and after a couple of clicks of suspension adjustment to soften it up for you... and that you liked it and could totally feel the difference. Good job. It is always worth doing, keep it up! Good job buddy. Can't wait to see how Simon and you go through Apex's suspension set up when it's ready.
The origami Katana was unusual styling….the seat area looked hmmmm…just I didn’t like the style. This newer one has not hit any buttons in the looks department, but I’m sure it is a great ride. The small fuel tank wouldn’t be a concern, as I am used to stopping for fuel and a stretch every 100-120 miles. Most of the time, a ride will be maximum 60 miles before a stop for me. Glad you loved it….that’s why there are SO many different bikes on the market, something for everyone, or if not…Build a custom!
I always loved the looks of the Katana ❤️, and i think you may have persuaded a few people to buy. I however had one, and sold it, because it was too fast for me, its a vicious bike, but great if you want to go a little bit mental😬😬great review 👍👍👍
Loved the vid, what a great engine sound, low growl and comforting. Thank you for the filtering tip, about watching the cagers' eyes. yes some of them are watching their phones, eating apples etc..
Yes, I need to get away from cars in a traffic jam. Been rear ended twice hence filtering is safer. By the way, where did you get your boots from? I need a new pair.
It looks bad ass bike and you look so cool on it? I would have brought one but the so small petrol tank put me off? But it is so good and 150 hp! Is perfect for the road? Good video xx
We need more girls like you miss....😅😅and yes we will also look cool on this bike...love the videos as usual ...keep grinding..😂😂love from India,punjab....this bike is underated monster that demands respect...one of the coolest and rarest designs in biking world...
I had the original 81 Katana, both the 750 and the 1100. I was disappointed when they announced the pop up headlight model and was even more disappointed when I saw it. I test rode a 2019 Katana when I sold my 2008 GSXR1000, I was getting old couldn't bend like a pretzel to sit on it, so the Katana popped up. I did enjoy the bike at the time but the 13L tank bas the buzz kill as here in Oz servo's can few and far between and the Kat just didn't have the range. Lucky for me my bike shop managed to find the last GSX-S1000F in Oz. Bigger tank, same engine the tried and true can't kill it K5, same brakes, different screen but similar features, ride select, traction control, same adjustable forks and rear suspension and a significantly longer range. Looks are very different, mine is sort of a bug eyed look. Comfort wise I'd reckon they are very similar and they ride very similar. I reckon it's time for you to park the Sportster and make the leap to one litre fun bikes.
I was disappointed when Suzuki didn’t bring them to the US for 2022 🙁, but I’m quite happy with the 1000GT instead 👍. But let’s be honest, your statement at 1:03…..you make any bike look good 😉!
I drove an SV650 for 15 years. In 2019 I saw the new Katana and had to have it. Bought a black 2020 model. Awesome bike. What do you prefer over the new GSX 8S and the new Katana?
That’s a tough one. I fit and felt like home on Speed Tripple, but Katana has that quirky look and it’s Suzuki. Heard it means no troubles for miles and miles.
I think this is the better buy than the street fighter v2. However, where I live in USA this will be a very difficult bike to find in stock at dealers. Shame, because I really want one haha
Young lady you are in England 😎 too bad I wish I was there or you were here 😉😍 I am in the U.S. Riding my 2019 CB1000-R so we could go on long trips to SF or New Orleans. Classy you are you. You add class to any vehicle you hop on 👍 Wish I can have you hop on my 2023 Dodge Challenger R/T ScatPack wide body Swinger so it will look more classy 😎
Well i've watched this video now and OmG, what a bike, and I adore that exhaust note..., but I must admit, I am biased. I've always liked the Suzi models and have owned a few, but the Katana never gets a bad review on YT, so Suzuki must be doing something right. But i'm afraid this bike has come out a little too late. At my age, I would probably do a lot of damage to a lot of things as I have ridden Cruisers for far too long now. I close my eyes and see it in front of me! "Highway- to Hell" blasting out loud in my helmet and the Katana prompting me to take every corner as fast as possible..., no definatly not. Both of us would end up in Hell. Oh well then, 'spose it's time to go look at a Himalayan!!
I have just finished watching a review of the Katana elsewhere, then this pops up on my feed. I hope it's not as positive as the last review or I might find myself looking for a Suzi dealer!! Now, lets watch the video and see what you have to say....
Ive got a 2020 model. Nice bike but wheel paint thin and brackets and abs discs soon tarnish .my 2004 gsxr1000 has been used in all weathers and parts are much better quality.
listen to your gut feel a little nervous ? times its happened to me i have first time crashed and writen off bike when nob end pulled out on me broke my leg chipped my elbow and broke my collar bone .... after that i listened was extra vigilant and so far every time i get that off feeling yep idiot drivers at some point in my ride .... my dad god rest his beutiful soul always told me treat everyone on the road as an idiot
You should try both and go with what is you more. MT is more agressive, Katana has more character to me. Both are incredible bikes. But as a custom bikes builder and lover I’d go with Katana.
Good review 😎👍 you can't go wrong with the engine in that bike, makes you feel young and alive. If you want a cruiser, it's not gonna be that bike. The engine really wants to rev, it's quite naughty in a good way. You should treat yourself and move on from the Harley 😁
