Years ago - I had a bolt that was awkward to fit a spanner or a socket to tighten so I ground a slot in it for a screwdriver just enough to get me past the awkward bit - then tighten up with a spanner .

Scratches can often be repaired in powder coating by carefully applying a hot knife to the area. Also for removing where coating is not wanted ,for example on casting joints.

I respect the care you have for your projects.

The adjustment securing chin allways works for me too😂 Bet guy who owns this rm is goin b surprised at finished bike when he see it. Its only frame an engine at min it looks ace.

with that cover vs filler vs paint.... use dust coats of primer... a few dust coats... let it dry... knock it back with some scotch pad... few more dust coats... knock it back with a scotchpad. if it looks crap under just the primer, its gonna look worse under paint... dont waste the paint. the trick is light dust coats, letting it dry, scotching it back etc etc... when finish with the primer is good... only then add paint... again, dust coats. dont do heavy for the first few coats

Being an older gentalman with more issues the the avarage medical Encyclopedia ,I allways try to lift the frame over the engine than lift the engine into the frame .But each to thier own , whatever works the best for you .

For that coil you could have used a socket cap screw/bolt instead of a hex head bolt Craig!

Blue came to kick the pole off the bikes neck

Hi Craig' maybe try swapping the coil bolts for Allen key heads, it might just give ya that bit more room 👍

I was a bit concerned. Painted cover on the bench and working above. One dropped bolt from a why did I do that moment. Yes I've been there.

for the coil bolts i would of just used some stainless Alan bolts mate

They are m6 on the coil, but with a 8mm head

Looks fantastic highly recommend craig has left no bolt unturned and the passion is evident to see what a transformation 😮

Can I humbly suggest you protect the frame with split inner tube off a pushbike? It should be thin enough to allow enough clearance but strong enough to withstand a bump or two. Oh, and a podger spanner for lining up your mount holes.

I love this build. Being a motocross / enduro fan. But I must say I was looking forward to the blue frame. It would have looked fantastic against the yellow. Proper retro. How come you change the colour

Why not to put some dome heads allen bolts for the coil bracket fixing? much easy to screw them in that tigth corner besides the contacts than the exagonal ones i guess. cheers!!

Couldn’t you use ‘cap head’ bolts to secure that coil?

G’day Craig it looks great what you have done, however if the owner treats the bike as it was intended it will bugger up the fancy hours of work you put into it making it look like a “ show bike “ or is he the young owner treating it like a normal road bike? John

For mounting the coil - cap head or button head allen bolts ?

does it have to be hex heads would a domed cap head be better for clearance from the terminals

Looks like you haven't learned your lessons from damaging the RM primary cover. I was holding my breath while you were doing up the engine brackets. You took the cover off and left it right where you were fiddling with lots of nuts & bolts and brackets, all of which you could have easily dropped on it 😬

l appreciate your details but it's a dertbike.

This bike will be too good to get dirty.
