What about a video doing a comparison between the top 12 holes of the 64c and the 48s? Does the slide/tuning arrangement make a difference? Some say the 64 sounds a little fuller than the 48 - can you hear a difference?
Great review Paul. We love this instrument. We sell only the brand new current USA models. Our prices are competitive with the legit dealers that offer the legit instruments. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Hi there Leandro, no they aren't the same. The Sirius is based on the Fabulous which is a considerable step up and there is a difference in reed type also. Take care!
Hi Paul, I value your opinion and would like to ask you. What harmonica would you regard as the best chromatic to buy? Taking into account sound, spare parts, build quality, value for money, other that scx 48 series as their value for money is second to none. I have considered the Seydel Deluxe Steel, and the sirius and the saxony. I bought a Larry Adler 16 Professional, but was not overly happy with it. I have the scx48 C & G, but I would like to buy another, possibly 14 hole but without being able to try before you buy we need to go by other peoples experiences. So your advise would be valued. Cross or straight tuning does not matter. Thank you
Hey there Hanz, that is definitely a loaded question. There are so many great options on the market and each of them have their loyal fans. I can tell you that I own a Saxony, a Sirius, a Symphony by Seydel, a Super 64, a couple SCX models, and various others. Yes, it's pretty sickening and kind of embarrassing but I love the instrument, what can I say?! LOL!!! As far as the best, I do like different things about all of them. Price point is the first consideration, then its a matter of doing your research. Also, be honest about where you are in your skill level. That can have a huge impact on your experience with some of these instruments. I can tell you there are a lot of frustrated guys out there because they approach the instrument like a diatonic. In the case of the Saxony where the tolerances are very small, it doesn't take a lot to get a lot out of them so that's either good or bad depending upon your approach. The honest truth here is that I have a Hohner Super 64 that I go to most of the time. It's clunky and a bit noisy, but I love the tone of that instrument, and it's a work horse. I don't have to baby it. Since you mentioned it, I also have a Seydel Deluxe Steel 12 hole that is orchestra tuned. It's a very nice instrument. You may want to check that option out. You lose some of the top end though, so 14 hole may be good depending upon your preference. One thing's for sure; you will find the instrument that suits you and it will be the one you go to every time regardless of what others think. The people who make these instruments really do a nice job overall. It just takes some trial and error to find out what works for you. Hope this helps at least a little.
Thank you, as always very informative. I am leaning towards the seydel deluxe steel orchestra tuned. I will listen to a few being played. Perhaps you can do a review. Cheers
12:24 This harmonica is DAMN expensive thou, its 600 dollars easy. Althou, its got nothing on the "Fabulous F-64C" which cost over 2000 dollars!!! I mean, if your not a professional working musician - forget it
Ron at Rockinron has gone crazy in the head. Really angry at his customers. After I spent $4,500.00 of harmonicas over the years, he was so angry when he called me, , because I cannot complete a purchase on his new website. He said literally ' if you do not like the way we do business, you go somewhere else" I did . I would recommend alternative places , unfortunately
And🤔? Are you doing the critic column hanging around on RU-vid blatantly & complaining about other's review & presentation? Still Immature & trolling around at your age it seems. 😅 Do you imagine that you're perfect in all aspects of aesthetics? You're a narcissistic loser & you better learn to mind your own concern. I must not give a sermon to a old Moses like yourself about it. Bloody hell! People like you are actually trouble makers & asking for it. While trying to get some attention somehow. But in the reality nothing. Otherwise you wouldn't have incoherently commented about his review. Good, bad or ugly🤣Nobody gives a damn but you.
