Id rather it take the hunting scope, they could just make it rarer or spawn in higher tier. So disappointed in it and tbh ill still take the tundra over it because of the scope

Honestly should have had its own optic and its own rare suppressor to truly make it unique. It would have been fun questing about for all the pieces. Could have had each one spawn in different areas such as gas/tier 3/5 and dynamic

This is what I thought they were going to do. Kinda like the r700 on PC need the stock and barrel to make the gun. Then get a speical scope or supressor. I'm good with the ammo choice. It could even stay weak damage wise just for balance. But it's weak, no speical attachments teir 3, major missed opportunity.

They were never gonna do that, especially with this gun, because for one: it's a pic rail gun, even irl. It's "special scope" would have to be pic rail, leading to reason 2, meaning if it's more than 6x it'd be a huge DMR buff. The special suppressor is technically possible, but I don't think it's anything you're gonna see from vanilla dayz

I would have just made the scope for the SV and blocked it being used on other nato weapon rails. If they say “oh but that’s unrealistic” the counter would be “so is not letting me put a suppressor on when the thread is right there under the muzzle protector”

So it's a... heavier gun, longer gun, less versatile gun, has longer range damage but no access to (good) long range optics. It's rather rare, there's no actual suppressor (even though it's a suppressible gun - while the VSD, a semi auto in the same calibre, is?) Am I the only one who feels like it is stupid to release a powerful sniper and not make it powerful?

Everything I'm seeing, this gun was not well received by the community. The only thing that I can see it doing well at is nighttime sniping. It's really not worth the effort of setting up with it. Very disappointing.

Good amount with Sniper rifles now. Should any firearm be added in the future, I hope it'll be more civilian Law inforcement "mid-tier" guns like the M12 tactical shotgun, the Mini-UZI that was announced back in the days or a civilian semi-auto carbine such as a Mini-14, it would make a good .223 (5.56x45) counterpart to the SKS.

I really wish the devs made a unique optic for the sv98, or at least gave it the Russian optics to make it differant. Also if it is the longest guy it does not make any sense as to why the damage is worse than others? It should at LEAST have the highest velocity out of all the weapons.

the barrel length seems to be about the same, the chamber is only about halfway on the gun, everything behind that is the receiver, bolt and stock

@@Sh4quille0atmeal The barrel length does not make any difference in DayZ. Damage per weapon is purely made up statistic and its fictional, for balance purposes I guess.

POS weighs 7kgs! A tundra and a dmr weigh 7kgs COMBINED! SV98 cannot even drop an elk with a 50 meter shot to the neck. Found 3 of them so far and all of them were thrown into bushes and ponds.

Don't forget the 6x ACOG has ranging built right into the reticle. So the fact it can't use a plain cross optic isn't a negative.

You're going to be disappointed lol it doesn't do shit for damage. I don't care what wobo says, this gun is trash. It does not one tap uncon people lol just wait until you finally uncon someone and it still takes at least 2 to 3 more shots to kill them. Either the gun is trash or it's bugged.

So far I've found 2 at Bash, and 3 at Tisy. The mags are quite common at Tisy too, hardly any at airfield.

i still believe they should of added a pks-07 scope for it.. since you know, that is the scope it comes standard with irl, and that scope is compatible with the svd and ak rifles... the hunting scope would of been a lazy option but better than american scope on a russian rifle.

I think the ability to suppress it could be enough to make it truly exotic. It would sit between a suppressable SVD and the higher damage Mosin.

Everyone is saying it’s bad but for someone who has a very hard time with sniping past 400 meters (mainly due to having a hard time judging actual distance without a range finder and judging velocity and bullet drop) I love this gun. I used to use a blaze most of the time but this is my new go to sniper.

They should at least allow an east suppressor on it. That way it will have an edge over mosin/tundra meta and will challenge an SVD in terms of the best suppressed sniper rifle.

its a mag fed mosin with nato optics. this is better than you think. granted you need to find that long rage acog now for it to be efficient. so do we need a newer long range nato scope now? maybe. it does need a unique suppressor.

Yes indeed a very sleek weapon, but (and it’s a very big BUT) the lack of the normalized suppressor attachment is a letdown. Hopefully it’s an oversight being that the SVD can take this suppressor. Keep up the amazing work WOBO cheers

The rarity balance is really off with the guns . I mean why even try to use sv when I could spend the same time looking for a tundra or mosin. They need to balance the guns cause there are a lot of guns that you don't need to use simply because you can find better ones in the same time

I got 2 kills with this gun, I got it from a raided base and godamn does it hit hard, one kill was alright with a damaged ACOG in Tisy (Around 200m) but the other one was with a damaged ACOG too but it was a 400m shot and he got domed with it. Such a good gun but I wish more scopes would fit in it

The latest patch has bugged respawn items that I think you can reproduce. I cleared out some military tents and when I went back there were at least 5 field jackets. I did it again and the next time there were 4 tactical belts. The randominess of items seems bugged.

I've done a fair amount of testing in PS5 with the SV98 and as it currently stands the rifle completely ignores plate carriers. At 100m or less it 1-shot kills. At 100-150 to 200m. It 1 shot uncons. Usually ruining your clothing but leaves you plate carrier untouched.

A lot of players avoid castles and summer camps and just run milli’s so I can see it being a useful option. At the very least a nice touch to go with the rifles already in game

@@jerseydakota7722 7.62x54mmR is pretty powerful mate. And having an OP ammo like 338 doesn't really fit the vibe of dayz. If you want OP guns go play Titan or some shit with your 300% contrast, 4:3 stretched to 16:9 res, and spamming the lean buttons when in pvp

@@Sh4quille0atmealnot compared to 338 or .50 it's not and if they want to stay at .308 and 7.62 then add the M 24 If they wanted something exotic to add they should have added a tokarev or Nagant M1985 for pistols and a exotic rifle would be a AVT 40 or even a normal SVT 40 a Garand sniper a m14 even a BAR is more exotic theres plenty of guns they could add the point is the Sv 98 is literally the least exotic thing ever I see why a .50 or .338 shouldnt be added no matter how much it pains me to say the massive anti tank 14.5×114mm PTRD will never be here even though I think it would be relatively balanced considering its complete lack of optics and having to lay down while you use it making it completely useless to sit in a window with not to mention its heavy and its bullets would be exceedingly rare the gun too not to mention one shot in the chamber and it being 8 miles long yes I rant

Hi. I am almost sure the Buckshot bug is back again. Only one of the pelets hit. I shot a freshspawn twice with a double barrel and he only got two bleeds. Have you had the same experience with buckshots recently after the update?

Was hoping for this rifle for years man. What a let down. A proprietary 1P69 3-10X or even a PKS 07 Scope would have been great... The 6X Acog is just ass for sniping. Reticle is massive. This rifle is built to take a Suppressor, why not have a Suppressor for it?!?!? The M14 launched just broken OP and still is busted. While the 98 is just useless compared to its counterparts. Would spend 3 hours finding parts and mags for this just to end up dropping it for a Tundra.

When will they add the ppsh. It could be tier two and in civilian houses and military. Chamber it in 9mm or 380 and make it not able to take a scope. Have 30 round or the drum mags available as well as being able to take eastern suppressors. It would fit so well in the game

I use VPP admin tools. You can create dummies by setting up parents and childs for items. There is a guide somewhere for it

Having a new gun is always fun. But we didn't really need this. It's just more of the same. It's very much like the other guns. Time and money would be better spend creating more survival and base building stuff. There is not enough to do late game other than killing people for no good reason. It's slowly moving away from a survival game and turning into a shooter.

6x is chunky and looks awful while aiming at longer ranges, like the pso scope it suffers from clutter within the sight, atleast with the Pu you can see what you're shooting

I come with a question that is not related to the vid (so sorry for that) But who else would I go to for help, advice or detailed information & top shelf data & stats 😘 (I know you have spreadsheets, am I right lol) On chernarus, console dayz, there's a town just inland on South Coast. It has high rise apartments, 3 blocks, plus assorted shops, garages & other buildings. I've looted it 3 times on official & community (I only have abt 20 hours on game) & despite searching every room on every floor I've not found any loot at all in them. Am I safe to assume they don't spawn loot or have I just been unlucky? I saw someone else run through them in a vid & asked same question & they said they'd not found loot either, but were new so could not answer for sure. Do you know? And do you get fed up of people coming to you for answers, lol, like dayz wobo/wiki 'hey google' 😘 With great power comes great responsibility lol

The devs claimed an "Exotic" rifle to be coming to the game. If they wanted to make this rifle "Exotic", they should've made it unique in some way, instead of just generic. Like, have a bipod attachment that makes the reticle still while prone. Or let it be able to equip the hunting scope attachment along with the other optics. Instead, we just have a pretty mediocre bolt action rifle.

i dont understand the spawn thing like "3 per server" does that mean if someone got it and never logged in the server again there will be only 2 left?

im pretty sure what it means is there are 3 on the ground on every server. so if you pick one up, at some point another will spawn so there are 3 on the map. putting the gun in storage also doesnt count so you really could get as many as you want, but can only find 3 at a time.

the vsd is my baby, i wouldnt take any sniper over the vsd. because for stealth it is unmatched

I like it for medium distance only. It does sound nice and especially with a bottle suppressor. I'd rather take a 308 rifle with a hunting scope.

it should do a little more damage and or reduce the weight of the gun. With a weight over 7 kilos its just too damn heavyh. i can have a tundra and an Ar for the same amount of weight.

Not what I was expecting. I got lucky and found it at a helicopter drop early on Livonia. I would have thought it would have ranked higher. I've been really happy with it so far. But I trust your math because literally noone else even attempts to do it and if they say anything I just assume they are going off of what your videos provide. But I will say that I did attempt a 700 meter shot a few days ago and couldn't quite hit it. I assumed it was bullet drop even zeroing in on the range

They need to rework how the gunplay and damage models work, in no world should a sv-98 be doing less damage than a mosin while not being able to take any long range or PSO optic, its a joke of a weapon and shows the devs dont know what they’re doing when it comes to weapons

I think the devs shit themselves back in the alpha and are afraid of people sniping in this game from distances above 800m, ever since they added the ugly fog around the coast, removed the hunting scope from the mosin and removed loot from the apartments above cherno.

They do the same damage. Tundra has only 5 shots before reloading (Savanna has 10), but Savanna has bad recoil + you need to find a mag. If i can find a mag, i prefer the Savanna as i think its sound is very cool. They´re really not that different

If they just allowed the Russian suppressor to attach this weapon would be decent. It's a shame especially considering the pioneer gets a sup and this doesn't.
