Class ACT presents: Part II of the La Bayadère (Berlin Staatsballet) rehearsal with: - Vladimir Malakhov, choreography after Marius Petipa - Peter Hartwig, piano
For some reason, I find it more enthralling seeing what goes on backstage at the ballet than anything in front of the audience. The nuts-and-bolts of it all... Them taking class, them rehearsing... That just seems more magical than that show they put on all at the end. Zakharova and Malakhov are two of the best in the lifetime right here and now... But... I guess it's not a secret, is it?
Starting from the premise that every dancer first has to impersonate a "swan", she is perfect! The movements of her body in slow motion technique are impressive. Ukrainian, she perfectly personifies the glory and pride of russian ballet through history, she is unique!
This is the most beautiful version of Bayadere ever! Better than the Makarova version, better than the Nureyev version, it's really the best. The 4th act just as Malakhov conceived it (together with other details) made the story complete and make total sense. And the ballet has a "grand finale" with breathtaking music. It's really superb!
A large ballerina, enormous feet and hands, neck and long arms, extremely slim and technical make a great visual impact on her dance (Zakharova), my heart beats! Semionov is more expressive than Lamtratov, but perhaps a little less refined.
NO!!!! I will NOT stop dancing, no matter what anyone else says! I may not be as good as some, but just because someone else is really amazing doesn't mean everyone else should stop dancing!
I think with her height she had to compensate with her weight, i.e. become thinner, so her partner can lift her. Otherwise, it will be hard to find a good partner.
Since I can only ever find fault with everything… It seems to be my lot in life? I do find one critique as her timing is getting better… When there is a change in the music however there is no change in her temperament or dynamic… this I would change if I were artistic Director or someone over seeing the rehearsal you see the music comes before the dancer… in other words everything that you hear Has to be reflected in what you see when the music becomes dramatic and strong the movements have to become dramatic and strong you cannot have one even temperament or one even dynamic when the music changes the dancing needs to reflect exactly the strength and weakness of the music. I am only seeing one flat dynamic from her this is something I would change. But I have been teaching a very long time perhaps too long. Are they amazing artists and are they technically wonderful yes they are I will never take that away from them but the dancers must look like the music comes from them not something separate.
sunmaidliz do you know how tall she is? Until I took antidepressants(which sadly made me gain tons of weight from the constant sleeping and eating) I was thin and lanky. And I’m taller than her To be picked up and thrown around, I’m sure she has a strict diet she sticks too. If you’ve watched other videos, it’s clear that she eats. There’s one video where she has two pastries and ice cream. In order to dance like that she NEEDS to eat. It’d be impossible for her to dance for as long as she has if she were starving herself.
