YOU are the winner! Watched several videos to get a proper understanding of the assembly and installation of the bag and ring (I have the same bag and bike as you), and your guidance was the clearest and easiest to follow. Thank you for that! The supplied instructions from SW-Motech were clear as MUD, especially when it comes to installing the tank ring hardware. As your video shows, SW supplies allenhead bolts in THREE different lengths (with a diagram showing them all going into the same holes), but specifically leaves it up to us to choose which is the correct length to use! That's some lazy damn BS! Yes the three lengths relate to four different bikes (BMW, Ducati, KTM, and Triumph) but which bike uses which length SHOULD NOT BE A MYSTERY! SW knows which length applies to which bike (there's no CHOICE involved), so how much trouble would it be for them to share that info with us, the purchaser/consumer who just dropped a bundle on their gear? Well, as you and I found out, of the three lengths, the LONGEST is the correct length for us GS and GSA guys. Other than that, the bags and hardware are top notch (damn well should be at just over $400 for everything involved). Say--that reminds me: Not only do you need a bike specific ring (sold separately) but SW doesn't do much better in HIGHLIGHTING their bike selector "tool" either. For instance, they mention adaptor rings for "six-screw" bikes (referring to the number of stock screws securing the bike's fuel filler cap). Don't pay attention to that--my R 1250GSA has six screws and the ring I ordered (for BMWs) was the wrong ring. Forget the number of screws, use the not-particularly-prominent Bike Selector Tool on the bag's webpage. If you're ordering from Amazon, make sure you know the exact SW part number you need because their listings don't show it in the first-level descriptions (you have to scroll way down the page to find it). And to make the problem even more acute, every ring seems to use the same picture/photograph, and if there are distinctions from one to another, they are SUBTLE if there at all!

Bought the exact same bag last month, except I was just confused between PRO and EVO (I bought the PRO bag and the EVO tank ring) but they swapped it out for the right part without any fuss or messing about.
I like the rachet slide but dont really like tank bags as a rule. I find they get in my way as my reach is small. I do have the BMW small tank bag as they do come in handy on tour. Great review B4R and a little extra pocket where you say is always handy for a bit of change ect for toll's and the like. (didn't know B4R meant "But For Real" as well as Billy4rocks )
Nice one. Got the city pro but haven't fitted it yet. Saw on the likeable rider that there is a waterproof version but it was too late for me. Not sure if the price difference justifies it though 🤔
Job well done Billy all set can you see over it ok ,big bag on a big tank and don't you sit low on the GS like in the bike more than on it but hey what the flip do I know I don't ride one 🤣👍

@@crumblymal8479 yeah had the explorer for 10 years, fantastic bike, but in the end lots of stuff was going wrong, the electrics were beginning to play up (again) the fork stanchions needed replacing, the milage on the clocks was out of sync with mot’s (the clocks were stolen) and a few other things… so i part exchanged it whilst it still had value
Nice, tankbag is so handy to have, unfortunately Triumph has put the ignition key between the handlebar(tiger 800) and the tank so a tankbag(l have a bagster) makes it difficult to get the key in😂. Loong trip ahead?
@@billy4rocks always had for my sportsbikes, and my wife had for her sv650. Afther a few years with a vstrom, where topbox are mandatory, l transfer the thing over to my tiger800...l know l know Ugly as, but its as handy as its ugly😂😂, so the need for a tankbag dissapared
I imagine it probably will eventually, though you can always cover it with a elasticated tank bag cover, i cant actually remember if it came with one….
Good kit and video, in just today about to order one for my GS but the SW websites is beyond crap. I like you thought the ring would be included, but I was doubting my sanity as I couldn’t find anywhere that says the ring is bought separately. Then there’s the clear as mud on which ring to order as I’ve now read if you order the BMW version that’s more than likely wrong. Why do they make things so hard to buy? Who designs their un intuitive or logical website? Anyway thanks for the video, really helped.
No worries molly, yeah its unnecessarily annoying there website, makes me think they do it on purpose, you buy the bag, then have to splash out again for the ring, and you cant have one without the other.
